Abstract

This study examines the role of gender mainstreaming in the implementation of entrepreneurship training programs conducted by the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office in Tanjungpinang City. The program aims to empower women, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds, by enhancing their skills, fostering self-confidence, and promoting gender equality. This qualitative study utilizes interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques, with training participants and program facilitators serving as primary informants. The findings reveal that the program integrates gender mainstreaming principles by providing practical skill training, such as sewing and baking, alongside knowledge in digital marketing, financial management, and risk management. The initiative has been effective in equipping participants to manage micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while also enhancing their economic independence and family welfare. However, the study also identifies challenges, such as participants’ entrenched patriarchal mindsets and limited support from families or communities. To address these barriers, the program emphasizes community-based approaches and includes follow-up mentoring to ensure sustainability. Overall, this study highlights the significant positive impact of entrepreneurship training on women’s empowerment and underscores its strategic role in advancing gender equality and local economic development.

Abstract

This article discusses the transmedia storytelling process of Mili Kecil character in 2 (two) children's illustrated books. In this case, the transmedia approach is used to analyze the expansion of the character, from previously being a child in the real world to becoming a fictional character. The theoretical framework focuses on transmedia storytelling in the scope of character studies. The methodological approach is based on the transmedia character analysis model developed by Kunz and Wilde (2023). The research findings show that the transmedia strategy is seen in the character Mili Kecil, who in this case always appears and becomes the central point in the narration of the story in the two children's illustrated books. Furthermore, Mili Kecil's characteristic as a cheerful girl with curly hair and sunflowers, which is a marker of transmedial identity, always consistently appears in every story. On the other hand, instead of just following the storyline in this case, readers are also invited to take part in Mili's adventures through narratives presented as part of the subjective representation of Mili Kecil's character, although the limited target readership in author's opinion influences the expansion of Mili Kecil's emotional stance as a transmedial character.

Abstract

The land conflict between the residents of Pengudang Village and PT Buana Megawisatama (BMW) in Bintan Regency dates back to 1993, whenthe company offered compensation to local residents to relinquish their land at disproportionately low prices, accompanied by promises ofresidential plots and housing, most of which were never fulfilled. This imbalance triggered mounting tensions and protests from the community, culminating in demonstrations involving university students and resulting in repressive actions by security forces. This study aims to examine the root causes of the conflict in depth and to evaluate the effectiveness of various resolution efforts undertaken, including mediation and directinterventions by relevant stakeholders. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with informants selected via snowball sampling. The findings reveal that this conflict reflects structural tensions between local communities and corporate interests over access to and control of land, with significant social, economic, and environmental repercussions for the affected population. Despite the local government’s mediation efforts and land retribution initiatives.

Abstract

Abstract

This research analyzes the role of anonymity as a major catalyst in the transformation of social interaction in digital society, with a case study on social media. Using a descriptive-analytical desk research method, this study examines current scientific literature to reveal the positive and negative impacts of anonymity on the dynamics of online communication. The results show that anonymity facilitates freedom of expression and the formation of inclusive virtual communities, and supports whistleblowing. However, its negative impact is more dominant, triggering online disinhibition that leads to anti-social behaviors such as cyberbullying, hate speech, and identity manipulation. Anonymity is also a key factor in the spread of disinformation/hoaxes, exacerbating opinion polarization through echo chambers, and contributing to mental health problems due to online harassment. The long-term implications include the erosion of trust and the loosening of online social norms. In conclusion, anonymity is transforming social interactions in digital society as a double-edged sword. While it offers the potential for freedom of expression and unique communities, the risks to accountability, security and digital well-being are immense. Therefore, this study emphasizes the urgency of finding a balance between facilitating the freedom of anonymity and building a healthier and more responsible online interaction environment.

Abstract

This article examines the process of religious identity negotiation undertaken by Salafi women in relation to their need for public space at the Abu Bakar Shiddiq Mosque in Deli Serdang. It highlights how religious groups known for their strict understanding of women's roles in the domestic sphere often face social challenges due to their presence in public spaces. Their involvement in public spaces continues through study groups, children's education, and social activities. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, collecting data through participatory observation, field notes, literature review, and interviews. The findings show that Salafi women negotiate their identity by adhering to the principles of manhaj, such as wearing sharia-compliant clothing, regulating the timing of activities, and limiting interaction with non-mahram men. This study emphasizes that the mosque not only functions as a center of worship but also as a social arena that allows Salafi women to maintain their religious identity, thereby contributing to the study of the sociology of religion by highlighting that Salafi women are not only passive but also actively negotiate to bridge religious values and social space needs.

Abstract

This study employs an integrative literature review approach to examine how the spirituality and local wisdom of the Dayak community in Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan shape patterns of social governance and support broader processes of social transformation. Unlike empirical studies that rely on interviews, surveys, or field observations, this research synthesizes multidisciplinary findings drawn from anthropology, the sociology of religion, public administration, environmental governance, and customary law. The reviewed literature consistently illustrates that Dayak spirituality embodied in ritual practices, moral teachings, and adat-based norms operates as a comprehensive normative system that guides everyday social conduct, regulates relationships within the community, and structures mechanisms of conflict resolution and social protection. Furthermore, the synthesis demonstrates that this spiritual foundation plays a crucial role in shaping community-based environmental management, emphasizing harmony with nature, collective stewardship, and intergenerational responsibility. Building on these insights, the study proposes a conceptual model of spiritual governance, which highlights the integration of cosmological values, collective obligations, relational accountability, and adaptive decision-making processes within Dayak communal life. The findings enrich theoretical discussions on culturally rooted governance by illustrating how spiritual–ethical frameworks can function as legitimate sources of authority and organizational coherence. This study also offers new perspectives for public administration, particularly regarding the relevance of indigenous spiritual ethics in advancing inclusive, context-sensitive, and sustainable governance practices.
