Abstract

Damage to building structures is a common problem in the construction industry and has the potential to significantly impact the safety of building users. One of the main factors causing structural damage is loads exceeding the building's design capacity. These overloads can arise from changes in building function, the addition of structural elements, and the building owner's lack of understanding of the structure's capacity limits. This study aims to analyze the forms of damage to building structures due to overloading and their causal factors through a qualitative approach. The methods used include literature review, indirect observation through case documentation, and descriptive analysis of the phenomenon of building structural damage. The study results indicate that overloading can cause various types of damage, including structural cracks, excessive deflection, foundation settlement, and structural failure. Therefore, careful structural evaluation and supervision are necessary to prevent building damage due to overloading.

Abstract

Static equilibrium analysis is a fundamental topic in physics that plays an important role in understanding the behavior of objects at rest under the influence of forces. One of the most commonly discussed cases in statics is a beam subjected to various forces. This study aims to analyze the force equilibrium of a static beam using basic mathematical concepts, including algebraic equations and moment calculations. The analysis is based on the conditions of static equilibrium, namely that the sum of forces acting on the beam and the sum of moments about any point are equal to zero. The research method employed is a descriptive-analytical approach, in which force diagrams and mathematical formulations are used to describe and solve equilibrium problems on a static beam. The results show that the application of basic mathematical concepts can effectively determine reaction forces and internal force conditions on the beam accurately and systematically. This study demonstrates that a clear understanding of mathematical fundamentals significantly supports the comprehension of physical concepts in statics, particularly in analyzing force balance on static structures.

Abstract

Reinforced concrete is a construction material widely used in infrastructure development due to its ability to withstand both compressive and tensile loads. The mechanical performance of reinforced concrete is strongly influenced by the concrete mix composition, particularly the water-cement ratio (w/c). This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the water-cement ratio on the mechanical performance of reinforced concrete at curing ages of 7, 14, and 28 days. The water-cement ratios used in this study were 0.40, 0.45, 0.50, and 0.55. An experimental laboratory method was employed by producing reinforced concrete specimens and testing their mechanical performance using a compression testing machine. The results indicate that concrete with lower water-cement ratios exhibits higher mechanical performance compared to concrete with higher water-ccement ratios at all testing ages. Furthermore, the mechanical performance of concrete increases with curing age, with the highest values observed at 28 days. This study demonstrates that selecting an appropriate water-cement ratio plays a crucial role in improving the quality and mechanical performance of reinforced concrete, particularly for structural applications requiring high strength.

Abstract

Basic mathematics is a fundamental foundation in the field of Civil Engineering, especially in structural analysis. One of the most frequently analyzed structural elements is the simple beam, as it is widely used in buildings, bridges, and other civil structures. A simple beam functions to resist applied loads and safely transfer them to the supports.This paper aims to explain in a more detailed and easy-to-understand manner the application of basic mathematics in simple beam analysis. The mathematical concepts discussed include arithmetic, algebra, and trigonometry, which are applied in static equilibrium analysis, support reaction calculations, shear force determination, and bending moment analysis. The discussion is systematically arranged using original wording to help students understand the relationship between mathematical calculations and the physical behavior of beams under loading conditions.The method used in this paper is a literature study based on engineering textbooks and relevant standards, combined with conceptual analysis grounded in basic engineering mechanics principles. The results show that mastery of basic mathematics greatly influences the accuracy of structural analysis and serves as an essential foundation for Civil Engineering students in learning more advanced structural systems. With proper understanding, students are expected not only to perform calculations correctly but also to comprehend the engineering meaning behind the analysis results.

Abstract

Paving stability is the main indicator in determining the ability of flexible pavement to withstand repeated traffic loads and environmental influences during the design life of the road. This study aims to analyze the role of mathematical approaches in evaluating the stability of Asphalt Concrete–Binder Course (AC-BC) mixtures through Marshall tests and simple numerical modeling. The research method was carried out experimentally in the laboratory with variations in asphalt content of 5–7% and variations in soaking time of 30 minutes, 6 hours, and 9 hours. Asphalt content is a parameter that determines the stability and durability of flexible pavements on highways. Operational temperature is a dominant factor that influences the stability and resistance of flexible pavement to permanent deformation (rutting). The relationship between temperature and stability can be modeled mathematically with a high degree of correlation. The rutting prediction model developed is able to explain the tendency of pavement conditions in the field, thus indicating that a mathematical approach plays an important role in designing flexible pavements that are adaptive to tropical climate conditions. Water is also one of the environmental factors that most influence the decline in the quality of flexible pavement performance, especially in tropical climates with high rainfall that cause damage to flexible pavements such as decreased stability and permanent deformation (rutting) to become major problems on highways, which makes asphalt stability an essential parameter in the design and maintenance of flexible pavements, which is directly related to the ability of the pavement structure to withstand traffic loads and environmental conditions throughout the design period. Test data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, linear regression analysis, and correlation to identify quantitative relationships between mixture variables and stability and flow values. The results of the study indicate that the relationship between asphalt content and stability forms a parabolic curve pattern, where maximum stability is achieved at a certain asphalt content. Statistical analysis shows a strong negative correlation between soaking time and stability, indicating a decrease in the durability of the mixture due to the influence of water, which makes the study show that the mathematical model is able to describe the complex relationship between water factors, traffic loads, and structural responses of the pavement.

Abstract

Urban flooding is a frequent problem caused by increasing rainfall intensity, the growth of built-up areas, and the limited capacity of drainage systems. This study aims to develop an effective and sustainable urban drainage system plan to reduce flood risk. The methods used include the collection of hydrological and hydraulic data, analysis of design rainfall, evaluation of the capacity of existing drainage channels, and the formulation of alternative drainage management solutions. The results indicate that increasing channel capacity, implementing environmentally friendly drainage systems, and improving operational management can significantly reduce the potential for inundation and flooding. This study is expected to serve as a reference for urban drainage planning that is adaptive to climate change.Rapid urban development has led to changes in land use from infiltration areas to built-up areas. This condition results in increased surface runoff that is not balanced by adequate drainage system capacity. Consequently, inundation and flooding frequently occur, causing economic, social, and environmental losses. Therefore, integrated and sustainable urban drainage system planning is required to reduce flood risk.

Abstract

Islamic education has an important role in shaping citizens who are aware of their rights and obligations in social, national, and religious life. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in instilling awareness of the rights and obligations of citizens and to identify factors that support the implementation of these values in everyday life. This research uses a qualitative approach through literature study by examining books, journals, and relevant scientific articles related to Islamic education and civic awareness. The results show that Islamic education contributes significantly in developing attitudes of responsibility, justice, discipline, tolerance, and obedience to the law. Islamic educational values also encourage individuals to understand the balance between rights and obligations as part of moral and social responsibility. In addition, teachers, family, and educational environments have an important role in strengthening civic awareness among students. Therefore, Islamic education can become a strategic means in forming citizens who are responsible, ethical, and have a strong national spirit.

Abstract

Gamification and game-based learning (GBL) have emerged as innovative approaches in Arabic language education. However, comprehensive reviews mapping trends, platforms, and research outcomes in this field remain limited. This scoping review aims to map and analyze the literature addressing the use of gamification and GBL in Arabic language learning contexts. Searches were conducted across four databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ERIC) using structured search queries with keywords including gamification, game-based learning, serious game, educational game, and digital game, combined with Arabic language, teaching Arabic, Arabic learning, and Arabic literacy. The PRISMA-ScR framework was used as a reporting guideline. Of 247 articles initially identified, 20 studies met the inclusion criteria after screening. The review findings indicate that the most widely used gamification platforms are Kahoot!, Quizizz, Wordwall, and Duolingo. The majority of studies reported positive impacts on learners' motivation, engagement, and academic achievement, particularly in Arabic vocabulary and grammar acquisition. Studies were conducted across various educational levels, from primary school to higher education, with geographic contexts dominated by Malaysia and Indonesia. Nevertheless, research gaps remain regarding productive skills (speaking and writing), long-term effects of gamification, and the limited use of rigorous experimental designs. This scoping review provides a useful research map for researchers, educators, and educational technology developers in Arabic language instruction.

Abstract

Civic Education has an important role in shaping the character of the younger generation to develop national awareness and responsibility as citizens. In the era of globalization, young people face various challenges such as declining nationalism, the influence of foreign cultures, and a lack of concern for democratic and social values. This paper aims to explain the importance of Civic Education for the younger generation in building patriotism, social responsibility, and active participation in social and national life. The method used in writing this paper is a literature study method by collecting various sources such as books, journals, and scientific articles relevant to the topic discussed. The discussion results show that Civic Education can serve as a means of character building, instilling moral values, and increasing legal and democratic awareness among the younger generation so that they can become intelligent, active, and responsible citizens.

Abstract

National identity is a crucial element in social, national, and state life. In the era of rapidly developing globalization, Indonesia's young generation faces various challenges that can influence their sense of nationalism and love for their homeland. This paper aims to discuss the importance of strengthening national identity as an educational effort to shape the character of the younger generation, who have a spirit of patriotism and a sense of responsibility for national unity. Using a literature review method, this research examines the elements of national identity, the various challenges that arise, and steps that can be implemented through education, the family environment, and society. The results of the discussion indicate that strengthening national identity requires good cooperation between schools, the government, families, and society so that national values can be optimally instilled.
