Abstract

The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh has a dual function as a center of worship and a religious tourism destination, which poses its own challenges in maintaining the solemnity of congregational prayer. This study aims to examine the communication strategy of the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque Youth (RMRB) in disciplining the congregation during prayer amidst the socio-cultural diversity of local and tourist congregations. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that RMRB applies a structured communication strategy of da’wah through four main approaches: (1) organizational communication based on the principles of tanzhīm and syūrā, which ensures coordination and effectiveness of task division; (2) da’wah communication bil hal, with examples of polite and friendly non-verbal behavior; (3) persuasive communication, which combines religious arguments and a humanist approach according to the theory of interpersonal communication and Islamic public relations; and (4) adaptive communication, which adapts messages to the cultural diversity of the congregation, including foreign tourists. Supporting factors for success include legitimacy from the Mosque Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD), a clear organizational structure, polite communication skills, and members’ commitment to prioritizing the interests of the congregation. Thus, RMRB’s da’wah communication strategy is not merely technical but also represents contemporary da’wah that is humanistic, dialogical, and relevant to the challenges of modern mosque management. Abstract

Violence in Islamic boarding schools has become a worrying problem, with such practices seeminglytolerated because they are considered part of character building. This study uses a qualitative approach withinterview techniques, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using QDA Minersoftware. The study found three main findings. First, institutionalized violence continues to be practiced andlegitimized as a means of discipline. Second, there are differences in the interpretation of parenting patterns inpesantren culture. Third, restructuring parenting patterns is an important strategy for mitigating violence. These findings show the need for a renewal between old traditions that legitimize violence and moderndemands for child-friendly education. Redefining parenting is not only a matter of technical change, but alsoa transformation of values that affirms Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions oriented towardsmercy, protection, and the development of students’ potential. Thus, this study can broaden the view thata humanistic-integrative parenting model is an effective strategy in mitigating violence and is relevant fordeveloping Islamic boarding schools that are in harmony with the values of rahmatan lil-‘alamin. Abstract

This study investigates the impact of disinformation on social media on adolescents’ mental healthby analyzing the documentary film The Social Dilemma as a case study. A qualitative descriptive approachwas employed, focusing on the interpretation of scenes that reflect adolescents’ psychological dynamics inresponding to disinformation. The findings reveal four major themes: (1) anxiety triggered by the need forsocial validation, (2) social comparison leading to feelings of inferiority, (3) pressure to construct a “perfect”self-image aligned with unrealistic media standards, and (4) emotional instability caused by exposure to falseinformation. These findings align with the Halo Effect theory, which explains how negative perceptions of a single aspect of the self can expand into negative overall self-assessment, thereby reinforcing anxiety anddissatisfaction. From the perspective of Islamic communication, the results highlight the relevance of theprinciple of tabayyun (verification of information) as stated in Qur’an Surah Al-Hujurat: 6, along with thevalues of qana‘ah (contentment), muraqabah (self-awareness before God), and ihsan (striving for excellencewith sincerity) in maintaining adolescents’ psychological balance in the digital era. Theoretically, this researchintegrates social psychology with Islamic communication ethics, while practically, it provides insights fordesigning Islamic-based digital literacy strategies to protect youth mental health from the negative impactsof disinformation. Abstract

Bottled Drinking Water (BDW) has become a basic necessity in modern society, particularly in urban areas and regions with limited access to clean water. The intense competition within this industry requires every producer to build strong brand awareness among consumers. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) strategies by Amidas Gontor in increasing sales and strengthening brand positioning amid competition from major brands such as Aqua and Le Minerale. Amidas Gontor is a business unit owned by Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, operating in the bottled water industry. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis focuses on the implementation of seven main elements of IMC: advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, personal selling, interactive marketing, public relations, and word-of-mouth marketing. The findings indicate that the integrated marketing communication strategy applied by Amidas Gontor has been effective in enhancing brand awareness and increasing sales. However, the study also reveals weaknesses in the utilization of digital marketing, which remains suboptimal. From the perspective of Islamic Communication, the business strategy implemented by Amidas Gontor reflects Islamic principles as outlined in the Qur’an and Hadith, emphasizing honesty, trustworthiness, and a focus on communal benefit. This study recommends strengthening communication strategies through social media and improving the integration among IMC elements to achieve sustainable marketing effectiveness in accordance with Islamic values. Abstract

This study aims to describe the concept of food security through the empowerment of Jamaah Tani Muhammadiyah (JaTaM) as a productive da’wah model that integrates religious, social, and economic values. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The informants include the Head of JaTaM, active farmer members, representatives from the Muhammadiyah Community Empowerment Council (MPM), agricultural officials, and local community members involved in JaTaM activities. The findings show that JaTaM’s concept of food security is built on three main pillars: production, distribution, and consumption, which are collectively managed through a community-based cooperative. The farmer empowerment programs include organic farming training, collective land management, a community food savings system, and the “Joint Harvest” event that strengthens member solidarity. The implementation of these programs has led to increased economic independence, stronger social bonds, and enhanced spiritual awareness that farming is a form of worship and economic jihad. Furthermore, JaTaM has become a strategic partner of local governments in promoting community-based food security and expanding its impact to the village level. The study concludes that JaTaM empowerment model successfully achieves sustainable food security through the synergy of Islamic values, mutual cooperation, and local economic independence.
