Abstract

The existence of the Semarang State University College in Gunungpati District can attract residents to come and have activities in the educational area. This condition causes an increase in population and expansion of residential areas in Gunungpati District. It is feared that the phenomenon of the expansion of uncontrolled residential areas could lead to environmental degradation. This study aims to assess the carrying capacity of residential land in Gunungpati District based on an analysis of land suitability and land capability referring to the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 20 of 2007. Using a spatial approach method with weighting and scoring analysis techniques. The results showed that the carrying capacity of residential land in Gunungpati District varied from low to high carrying capacity. Most of the Gunungpati area has a low land carrying capacity, but it can still be developed for settlements if improvements are made to infrastructure and water availability, while the Sekaran Village area is the best location for residential areas because it has high land carrying capacity based on various aspects of consideration.

Abstract

The square is known as a landmark for a city. The square also functions as a place for people to socialize and do activities both individually and in groups. Semarang City Square underwent a change in land use in 1969 to become a trading area and losing its function as a public open space. In 2015 after the burning of Johar Market, the Semarang City Government is carrying out a revitalization project to restore Semarang City Square to its original state. Revitalization is an effort to increase the value of land through rebuilding in an area that can improve the function of the previous area. The purpose of this research is to examine the public perception of the revitalization of Semarang City Square as a public open space. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with the analysis technique of presenting data in the form of descriptive. In exploring people's perceptions, it uses aspects of community comfort when doing activities in public spaces, namely comfort, activity, accessibility, and sociability. Based on the findings, Semarang City Square before it became a trading area and after revitalization had fundamental differences in the provision of physical facilities to support the comfort of the community when doing activities in the square. The revitalization of Semarang City Square has a positive impact on society. Apart from being able to restore the cultural heritage that has been lost, the government has also succeeded in restoring the function of the Semarang City Square as a public open space.

Abstract

Proper practice of operations and maintenance of water supply system is necessary to ensure the fulfillment of community’s water need while maintaining the continuity of functionality of the water facility. This study aims to explore the practice of operations and maintenance of water facilities in Citalang Village. Data collection is done through deep interviews with operator and beneficiaries of four water facilities in Citalang Village and field observation. This study uses qualitative approach with inductive analysis, referring to the analysis of Miles and Huberman model and Spradley model. Result of the finding shows a degree of how operations and maintenance of water facility conducted in four different locations. The implementation of technical procedures is important to achieve the proper practice of water facility operations, while maintenance need to be carried out through routine and periodic inspection and restoration. Evidence also suggests several factors that hamper the potential sustainability of the water supply system, namely the absence of routine maintenance mechanism and the absence of tariff structure supporting it, the absence of operator rotation, the absence of collective agreement on efficient water consumption, and finally financial limitations of beneficiaries.

Abstract

The Center for Milkfish Processed Food Industry are scattered in several areas, three of which are located in Semarang Barat, Gayamsari, and Semarang Utara districts which has the largest milkfish production and investment value in Semarang City. Inside, there are Home-based Enterprises (HBE) for milkfish processing with various characteristics. There are 3 main points indicated that the existence of HBE for milkfish processing is a potential that can be developed, including SMEs, culinary tourism, and thematic villages. To develop that, it is necessary to identify the character of each HBE unit in the three districts. This study aims to identify the typology of HBE at the Center for Milkfish Processed Food Industry in Semarang City to identify the characters and prerequisites for the development of HBE types by using 3 sustainable livelihood asets as the determinant of research variables. The results showed that there were 3 types of HBE which formed by 51 units. Small HBEs is a group that tends to have lower capabilities in natural, human, and financial capital than other types. Middle profile HBEs is a group identified with abilities in a higher educational background and broader marketing. High profile HBEs is a group with higher capabilities in natural, human and financial capital than other types, so that it is possible to have a more stable and sustainable livelihood.

Abstract

Pariaman City is one of the cities in the western part of Sumatra Island which is prone to disasters because there are two tectonic plates meeting, namely the Indo-Australian and Eurasian at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. So that in the event of a disaster the area most at risk of being affected is the coastal residential area of Pariaman City which includes fourteen villages. This study aims to assess the level of vulnerability and resilience of coastal communities in Pariaman City to disasters. The method used in determining the level of vulnerability is the overlay method on indicators of physical, social and economic vulnerability. The results of study showed a high level of vulnerability to disasters includes Karan Aur, Pasir, Lohong and Naras 1, the medium vulnerability level includes Marunggi, Ampalu, Manggung, Pasir Sunur, Naras Hilir, and Taluk, and the low vulnerability level includes Pauh Barat Village, Balai Naras, Apar, Padang Birik-Birik). The method used in determining community resilience is CCR (Coastal Community Resilience). The results showed that three of the eight elements of resilience is below standard, such us society and economic (Manggung), land use and structural design (Lohong, Manggung, and Balai Naras), warning and evacuation (Kelurahan Pasir , West Pauh Village, Amaplu Village and Marunggi Village). It can be concluded that the coastal communities of Pariaman City have a high tendency of vulnerability to disasters but also have a high tendency of resilience in dealing with these disasters. So to reduce the risk, it is necessary to regulate land use and recommendations to increase the element of resilience according to standards.

Abstract

Migrants are a person or group of people who carry out migration activities. The definition of migration itself is the movement of population from one region to another for the purpose of settling. Movement and the need for space for migrants have had many impacts on land use, particularly on green space conversion.. The city of Semarang as a center of activity has experienced rapid development, this development has spread to areas that are located on the edge, one of which is Bandungrejo Village. Migrant movement is a routine phenomenon that occurs from time to time. This migration is also motivated by many factors ranging from internal to external. Meanwhile, changes in land use that occur in an area do not occur without causes and factors. Through this research, it is hoped that a relation and correlation can be found between the presence of migrants and their activities on land use changes that occur in Bandungrejo Village, Mranggen District, Demak Regency.

Abstract

Green open space in residential areas is one of the facilities that must be provided as a space for community activities and has an ecological function for the environment. Perumnas Pucang Gading is a settlement that has existed since the 1990s and there is green open space in each hamlet as a space for residents' activities. However, in its utilization, green open space is not widely used and instead is used for personal interests, one of which is for parking lots. This study aims to evaluate the level of green open space services at Perumnas Pucang Gading based on the needs of the community. The research approach was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner using spatial analysis techniques, scoring, and frequency distribution. The results of the study show that in terms of quantity, the availability of green space services has been 75% fulfilled, namely based on the distribution, range, and area needed. Then in terms of quality, green open space obtained a sufficient/average score from the functional, technical, and behavioral aspects with a score of 3.1 out of 5.0. However, it turns out that the availability of green open space is not in accordance with the criteria needed by the community, namely a sports field with social space and is fulfilled by vegetation elements which are not in accordance with the current existing conditions.

Abstract

Koridor I Pemalang – Tegal timur , Koridor II Tegal Timur- Losari.
