JePKM (Journal of Community Service) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Institut Agama Islam Insan Prima Misbahul Ulum (IAI-IPMU) Gumawang. The journal focuses on the dissemination of community engagement activities that apply science, technology, and Islamic values to support sustainable community empowerment. The scope of the journal includes community empowerment based on education, social, economic, and religious approaches; the implementation of academic research and expertise in community service programs; participatory and collaborative community development; and the integration of Islamic values in community engagement activities. The journal welcomes manuscripts covering, but not limited to, educational and learning-based community service, creative economy and SME empowerment, social, cultural, and religious community development, public health improvement and environmental sustainability, appropriate technology application, digital literacy and religious literacy enhancement, as well as community service in educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools, and social communities. All submitted manuscripts must be original, practice-based, and demonstrate measurable impact on community development.

Abstract

Siger avocado cultivation is an alternative horticultural commodity development that has the potential to increase the income of rural communities. Karang Binangun 2 Village has agro-climatic conditions that support the development of Siger avocados, such as land availability, sufficient rainfall, and soil characteristics suitable for avocado growth. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and potential of Siger avocado cultivation in Karang Binangun 2 Village as an effort to improve the community's economy. The methods used include field observations, interviews with farmers, and literature studies related to Siger avocado cultivation techniques. The results of the study indicate that Siger avocados have advantages in terms of high productivity, a relatively fast fruiting period, and increasing market demand. However, there are several obstacles faced, including limited farmer knowledge regarding appropriate cultivation techniques and post-harvest management. Therefore, technical assistance, strengthening farmer group institutions, and an integrated marketing strategy are needed so that Siger avocado cultivation can develop sustainably and become a superior village commodity.

Abstract

Women's empowerment is an effort to increase family income, leading to an improvement in the quality of life and independence for women. One of the empowerment efforts for women is carried out through the agricultural sector, such as the "Melati" Women Farmer Group (KWT) in Karang Binangun Village, Belitang Madang Raya District, East OKU Regency. The purpose of this community service activity is to analyze the empowerment model and identify the women's empowerment strategies implemented by KWT Melati. This empowerment activity is analyzed using Jim Ife's empowerment strategy. The implementation method used in this community service includes a descriptive approach through socialization, agricultural skills training, group mentoring, and field program evaluation. The results of the activity show that KWT Melati applies a bottom-up empowerment model, which originates from the community, is managed by the community, and returns benefits to the community. The strategies implemented include: (1) policy and planning achieved through intensive socialization, (2) social action manifested through various productive agricultural activities on the group's land, and (3) awareness-raising and education provided through crop processing training. This activity has significant meaning in enhancing skills, economic income, and social independence for women in rural areas.

Abstract

The Hajj ritual practice is a form of Islamic religious education learning that aims to provide students with an understanding of the procedures for implementing the Hajj pilgrimage in both theory and practice. This community service initiative aims to describe the implementation of Hajj ritual mentoring at SDIT Al-Hikam Purwodadi. The results of the activity show that Hajj mentoring can improve students' understanding of the pillars and mandatory requirements of Hajj, instill values of discipline, togetherness, and responsibility, and foster a spirit of worship from an early age. The program was carried out through simulations of Hajj rituals such as ihram, tawaf, sa'i, wuquf, throwing pebbles (jamarat), and tahallul using learning media that mimic real conditions. This activity also received strong support from teachers and students' parents, making the learning process more effective and meaningful.

Abstract

The utilization of traditional musical instruments in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) often faces challenges such as limited instructors, stagnation in innovation, and poor rhythmic tempo stability in students' musical performance. This community service program aims to optimize the function of gamelan instruments through a clinical mentoring method acculturated with Islamic percussion instruments (hadroh) as a medium for cultural dawah. The partner for this program is the Darul Wangi Islamic Boarding School, Bedilan, East Ogan Komering Ulu. The implementation method was based on a participatory approach that included physical observation, collaborative arrangement formulation, and focused training using the isolated group practicing technique to separate the focus of male and female students based on group gender comfort. The psychomotor evaluation results showed a 100% success rate, with the students successfully mastering four collaborative sholawat arrangements with smooth tempo transitions. Affectively, this program successfully internalized core character values of discipline, reduction of sectoral ego in teamwork, and boosted students' self-confidence through an evaluation staging performance. Furthermore, this cross-cultural integration provides a tactical contribution to strengthening religious moderation and providing an emotional catharsis space for students. The program sustainability strategy has also been institutionalized through the establishment of an independent musical group management to ensure the continuity of inclusive cultural dawah in the modern era.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and social media exerts a major influence on adolescent behavior. On one hand, it provides easy access to information, but on the other hand, it causes negative impacts such as hoaxes, cyberbullying, hate speech, and low digital communication ethics. This condition also occurs in adolescents in Karang Kemiri Village, Belitang District, who are active on social media but lack an understanding of cyber ethics. This community service activity aims to increase adolescents' understanding and awareness of social media ethics based on Islamic values. The service partners in this activity are the local village youth community consisting of junior high, senior high school students, and youth organizations. The method used is participatory training which includes the stages of initial observation, program socialization, material delivery, case simulation, and evaluation-reflection procedures. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results show a significant increase in participants' understanding of digital ethics and a commitment to implementing Islamic values such as tabayyun, honesty, politeness, and responsibility in cyberspace. This activity is meaningful as a preventive step in shaping the character of village youth to be digitally smart and noble.

Abstract

Graphic design training is an important strategy to enhance student learning competencies, particularly for students of SMK Al Muttaqin OKU Timur. This study aims to provide foundational understanding and advanced skills in using the Canva application as an effective learning medium. The training was attended by SMK students from SMK Al Muttaqin OKU Timur with an interactive learning method and hands-on practice. The evaluation results showed significant improvement in creativity, the ability to utilize design features, and students' confidence in developing independent works. The majority of participants stated that the training material was relevant to their needs, and the instructor's delivery was easy to understand, as reflected in the average evaluation score of 86.67%. Although there were some suggestions regarding the training duration being too short, overall, the activity successfully enhanced student learning competencies. This training is expected to serve as a competency development model that is beneficial for both the education and professional sectors, providing skills that can be directly applied in the field of graphic design

Abstract

Strengthening religious moderation values in early childhood is essential for developing tolerant, inclusive, and harmonious character in a plural society. This community service study aims to describe the implementation of religious moderation values through environmental education based on Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in Margokoyo Village, Belitang Jaya District, OKU Timur Regency, targeting local early childhood children as partners. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through the stages of preparation, training and guidance in planting, evaluation, and final reinforcement. Data were collected through observation and documentation at each stage of the program. The results indicate that TOGA activities not only enhance knowledge about medicinal plants but also internalize religious moderation values, including cooperation, tolerance, mutual respect, and environmental care. Children demonstrated high enthusiasm and positive interactions without distinguishing religious or cultural backgrounds. Environmental education based on TOGA proves to be a contextual, enjoyable, and effective learning medium for instilling religious moderation values from an early age, while also equipping children to live harmoniously in a diverse society.
