Abstract

Workload and stress for nurses in hospitals, especially in operating rooms, are conditions that require special attention. This is important because nurses working in operating rooms face high work demands, which can cause stress. If not managed properly, this stress can have a negative impact on nurses' performance and work-life balance. Objective: This study aims to analysis the relationship between workloads and work-related stress with the quality of work-life balance among perioperative nurses at Lavalette Hospital in Malang. Methodology: This study employs a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consists of all perioperative nurses at Lavalette Hospital in Malang, using total sampling involving 34 respondents. Data analysis used the Spearman's rank correlation test. Research results: There was a significant relationship between workload and work-life balance with a p-value of 0.001 (< 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of r = -0.535 (strong relationship). Similarly, there was a significant relationship between work stress and work-life balance with a p-value of 0.002 (< 0.05) and r = -0.514 (strong relationship). The negative correlation indicates that the higher the workload and work stress experienced, the lower the level of work-life balance among perioperative nurses. Conclusions and Recommendations: Ongoing efforts are needed from nurses to enhance their competencies, implement effective time management, and optimize work stress management. For healthcare institutions, it is recommended to regularly enhance nurses' capacity through training, provide performance- based rewards, and establish effective communication regarding career progression

Abstract

The elderly represent the final stage in the human life cycle, marked by a natural aging process. This process leads to various physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial changes that affect the independence and health of the elderly. A decline in their independence is a critical indicator of health problems in the elderly, particularly in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), such as eating, bathing, walking, using the toilet, and dressing. The family plays a crucial role in developing, preventing, adapting to, and addressing health and independence issues in the elderly. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach and an accidental sampling technique, involving 61 respondents. The research instruments included questionnaires to measure family roles and the Barthel Index. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square correlation test with SPSS IBM version 25. The results showed that 36.10% of the elderly with good family support were in the independent ADL category, 1.6% had mild independence, and none were in the moderate category. The chi-square statistical test revealed a p-value = 0.000, indicating a significant relationship between family roles and the independence of ADL in the elderly in Sumberagung Village, Selorejo District, Blitar Regency. Family roles are one of the key factor influencing the quality of life of the elderly by maintaining their independence and improving their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Active family involvement is essential in maintaining elderly independence. Programs such as family training can be implemented to enhance the role of families in sustainably supporting elderly ADL independence.

Abstract

Impaired blood glucose regulation is frequently observed in older adults and contributes to an increased risk of metabolic complications. Ling Tien Kung is a form of low-intensity physical exercise that has potential benefits in supporting glycemic control among the elderly. This study aimed to examine blood glucose levels in elderly individuals who regularly participate in Ling Tien Kung exercise and to assess their deviation from established standard values. A quantitative observational analytic design with a single-group approach was employed. Twenty-four elderly participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Blood glucose measurements were obtained using a calibrated glucometer. Data analysis was conducted using the One-Sample Wilcoxon test. The mean blood glucose level was 112.08 mg/dL. The results demonstrated a statistically significant difference between the observed blood glucose levels and the standard reference value (p = 0.008). These findings suggest that blood glucose levels among elderly individuals practicing Ling Tien Kung differ significantly from standard values. Ling Tien Kung exercise may play a role in blood glucose regulation in older adults. Further research with controlled designs is recommended

Abstract

Abstract: Introduction: Self-efficacy plays a crucial role in the success of therapy because it is related to patients’ confidence in adhering to treatment. Consequently, low self-efficacy may result in suboptimal treatment adherence. During the initial phase of hemodialysis, patients commonly experience difficulties in adapting, but this adaptive ability tends to improve as they gain more experience and understanding of the therapy. Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between the duration of hemodialysis treatment and self-efficacy among hemodialysis patients. Methods: A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study sample consisted of 100 hemodialysis patients selected through purposive sampling. The independent variable was the duration of hemodialysis, while the dependent variable was self-efficacy. Self-efficacy was measured using the General Perceived Self-Efficacy questionnaire, and patient medical records were used to determine the duration of hemodialysis. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Result: The results indicated a significant relationship with moderate strenght between the duration of hemodialysis and self-efficacy, with a p-value of 0.000 and a correlation coefficient of 0.448. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the longer patients undergo hemodialysis, the higher their self-efficacy levels. A longer duration of hemodialysis allows for the accumulation of experience and information from healthcare professionals and fellow patients, which contributes to enhanced cognitive functioning. This cognitive improvement supports patients’ understanding, adaptation, and coping abilities, thereby increasing their confidence in managing therapy as reflected in improved self-efficacy.

Abstract

Nutrient deficiency was one of the nutritional problems that could hinder the growth and development process of children. Around the world, many children aged zero to five experienced malnutrition, including a significant number who had low body weight. Insufficient intake of fruits and vegetables caused the body to lack essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which potentially led to various illnesses. This research aimed to produce educational media in the form of a healthy human silhouette magnetic board about healthy lifestyles for preschool children. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method. The research procedure followed the ADDIE model, which consisted of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study was implemented at TK PKK Gandekan from March to April 2025. The expert validation results showed a very feasible category, and the participant trial results also indicated a very feasible category. The products developed, such as boards with pictures of children’s human organs and magnets with images of fruits and vegetables, were attractive and could be understood by preschool children. Subsequent researchers could test the media on more diverse samples and explore additional health aspects, while educational institutions could adopt it as an interactive learning tool with teacher training support.

Abstract

Postoperative shivering is a common complication in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia and may increase oxygen consumption, cardiac workload, and delay recovery. Intraoperative bleeding is considered one contributing factor, as blood loss can reduce core body temperature. This quantitative correlational study used a cross-sectional approach involving 76 patients selected through purposive sampling. Intraoperative bleeding was assessed using observation sheets, while shivering was measured using a standardized shivering scale. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. Most respondents experienced mild shivering (57.9%) and Class 1 intraoperative bleeding (78.9%). Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 and an r-value of 0.440, indicating a significant moderate positive correlation. Higher degrees of intraoperative bleeding are associated with an increased risk of postoperative shivering in spinal anesthesia patients.
