<![CDATA[This research is entitled “Kehidupan Sosial Tiga Tokoh Korban Pembunuhan Berantai dalam Novel The ABC Murders karya Agatha Christie”. It aims at finding out the description of the social life background of the three serial murder victims in this novel. It is also aims at finding out the influence of the social life of the three characters on the serial murder case. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive with sociological literature approach. This research used the theory of the characters by Abrams and Harpham (2009), character and plot relations theory by Nurgiyantoro (2015) and sociological dimension theory by Waluyo (in Wicaksono, 2017). The result found in this research is the description of the social life background from the three serial murder victims character they are occupation, family relations, age, nationality, wealth background, living condition, relations with the community, hobby or habits and social stratification. Then, the influence of the social life of the three characters on the serial murder case that contained in this novel is occupation aspects of Mrs. Alice Ascher and Elizabeth Barnard character, as well as family relations and welath background aspects of Sir Carmichael Clarke character. ]]>

<![CDATA[Living in a country where the majority of the population has conflicting beliefs of course has a lot of influence. Starting from lifestyle, culture, education and others. This study examines the development and growth of Syrian Muslims in America, comparing the lifestyle and cultural differences between Syrian and American Muslims. The purpose of this study is to provide information to students who are interested in studying how Muslims live in countries where the majority have different beliefs. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a comparative type. The approach used in this research is an ethical-objective approach. The results of this study are that there are many lifestyle and cultural differences between Syrian Muslims and Americans, such as how to dress, discriminate, promiscuity, being alone with the opposite sex, non-halal food and the prohibition of using tampons. Hopefully this research can help students provide information about Muslim life in America and its impact. ]]>

<![CDATA[Physical disability can lead to discrimination in the life of a boy who first set an informal school when he was about to start his first class in grade 5 (five), his name is August Pullman in the novel Wonder by R. J. Palacio. This study aims to analyze the depiction of Auggie's character and the interaction of Auggie's character with other supporting characters by using the theory of character according to Abrams and the theory of Alur according to Nurgiyantoro. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method. Researchers use a social approach to describe the conditions or social interactions contained in the novel. This study describes the description of Auggie's character and the relationship of Auggie's character with other supporting characters and there is a problem with Treacher Collins syndrome, which causes a series of events, conflicts, or climaxes so that the researcher analyzes based on the plot structure. ]]>

<![CDATA[The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks tell about the love story of Dawson Cole and Amanda Collier as teenager. Their love story didn’t smoothly because Amanda Collier’s parents already knew Dawson family background and her parents didn’t give permission to them. Aside from that this book tell about parental behavior and how to educating children. Some forms of affection shown by Amanda's and Dawson’s parents are converted in some of their actions towards Amanda and Dawson. In general cases that often occured expecially in the wider community or society, parental education certainly greatly affects to the psychological condition of the child itself. Some examples of educational actions taken by Amanda's and Dawson’s parents are reflected in some of their characteristics which are then analyzed in this analysis. Communication also plays a very big role in the children's behavior alternation. Good communication will two certainly produce a good relationship between the two sides, whether it could be in the child's side or the parents itself. The purpose of the research is to analyze this novel by Nicholas Sparks based on parental behavior. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is Nicholas Sparks’ novel, The Best of Me, published in 2012. The data collecting method used is library technique where the documents used in this study are books, transcripts, magazines and notes that are not numbers.]]>

<![CDATA[Novel The Last Song merupakan karya penulis Amerika bernama Nicholas Sparks. Novel ini menceritakan tentang seorang tokoh perempuan bernama Ronnie yang dalam perjalanannya melalui berbagai perubahan yang signifikan yang diantaranya disebabkan oleh kedua orangtuanya yang bercerai. Perceraian yang terjadi pada orangtua Ronnie sangat memperngaruhi dirinya bahkn hingga mengubahnya menjadi pribadi yang berbeda. Perbedaan ini terjadi baik dari perilaku maupun dari segi fisik Ronnie sendiri. Dalam beberapa kasus umum yang terjadi, perceraian seringkali menjadi faktor utama terhadap tumbuh kembang pribadi anak itu sendiri termasuk Ronnie. Ronnie yang saat itu masih berada di usia belasan tahun yang masih cenderung dalam fase pencarian jati diri menjadi pribadi yang pemberontak. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk meneliti dampak dari perceraian orangtua pada novel The Last Song karya Nicholas Sparks. Metode penelitian ini merupakan metode kualitatif deksriptif dan menggunakan pendekatan mimetik. Dalam meneliti novel The Last Song ini peneliti menggunakan teori Hurlock (2012) Ketika orang tua dan anak memiliki hubungan yang positif dan adiptif maka akan membantu remaja dalam pencapaian tugas perkembangan yang optimal. Sebaliknya, hubungan yang tidak harmonis antara anak dengan orang tua dapat berpengaruh negatif dapat berasal dari perceraian yang terjadi dalam sebuah keluarga. Dengan berlandaskan teori Hurlock (2012) tersebut maka dampak dari perceraian yang terjadi pada anak yang tergambar dari novel The Last Song ini meliputi berbagai hal, diantaranya yaitu perubahan perilaku apatis, berubahnya hubungan antara anak dan orang tua menjadi tidak harmonis dan munculnya sifat pemberontak dalam pada anak. ]]>

<![CDATA[English has become an international language where everyone can communicate in one language. Along with the development of the times and today's technology makes it easier for people to access anything and anywhere. This phenomenon has an impact on the economic sector, especially in the culinary business, not a few culinarybusinessman use English and Indonesian in their menus to make it easier for local and foreign customers. It is undeniable that translating food menus is not an easy task where the target language must deliverd information well from the source language. the translation process is not easy, frequent errors such as omission or addition of words make the information not deliverd well, making researchers find two problem formulations, namely how to omit and add translation techniques in menu restaurant on the Traveloka site. This study aims to identify and classify omission and addition translation techniques. This study used descriptive qualitative method. the results of this study there are 4 types of omission and addition, namely the omission of nouns (9), omission of noun phrases (3), omission of adjectives (9), omission of adverbs (3), addition of nouns (11), addition of noun phrases (6), addition of adjectives (18) and addition of conjunctions (9). ]]>

<![CDATA[Nemesis is a crime-fiction novel that was written by the queen of crime story, Agatha Christie, which published for the first time in Britain in 1971. Implicitly, this novel shows the Englishness that represented by the characters in the novel. The study tried to describe the characteristics and customs of English society through the characters in Agatha Christie’s Nemesis according to Fox (2014). The research method used is qualitative-descriptive. Content analysis is used to analyse the data. This study uses literary sociology approach in understanding the relationship between the social phenomena contained in the novel with the facts or realities that exist in society. The result of this study shows that most of the characters in the researched novel represent the characteristics and customs of English society, those are courteous; hypocritical; moderate; reserved; empirical; gardener; saying sorry, please, thank you; drinking tea; drinking alcohol, weather-talking; and reading newspaper. ]]>

<![CDATA[This research is entitled "Social Status of Women in the Georgian Era in Jane Austen's EMMA Novel". This study aims to describe women’s life and the social status of women in the Georgian Era of England in the 18th century. This research uses the theory of social background according to Warren and Wellek (2013) and the theory of social status according to Teeuw (2010). This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods and uses a literary approach to describe the women’s life and the social status of women in England in Georgian Era. This study also uses data collection, reading, listening, and taking notes. The results of this study are a description of women’s life and the social status of women in England in Georgian Era through the main character Emma Woodhouse and other female characters based on their social background.Based on the analysis that the author conducted on the description of women's lives in the Georgian Era in Jane Austen's novel EMMA, namely the female characters in this Era enjoy visiting, they also like to play music and attend a party or dinner invitation which aims to attract men's attention. They love to show off their skills. Women in this era if other skills such as painting or painting are good at playing music, it means they get from the upper class because they get a good education. ]]>

<![CDATA[This research is entitled Social Reflection in the novel Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell: Study of Marxism Literature. The purpose of this research is reflect social impression to found in the novel Down and Out in Paris and London By George Orwell trough Study of Marxism Literature. Descriptive qualitative is the method which applied in this research, and trough sociology approach of marxism literature. In generally, this research discusses what it was like to live poor, he himself was never really poor, considering that after all he came from a fairly well-off family that could be the last resort in the worst case. The novel Down and Out in Paris and London tells the story of Orwell's experience of living in poverty while in Paris and then in London. While in Paris this is the beginning of the story begins, Orwell began to be forced to live in poverty. Then, feeling unable to work as a dishwasher in Paris, he moved to London, and in that city his story of poverty continued with new friends, with new miseries. This research collected data by using the technique of read and record. While specifically, the data in this research present data related to social construction and historis materialism based on study of marxism literature trough social aspect, background social, and plot contained in the novel Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell. ]]>
