Abstract

Midnight’s Children merupakan sebuah novel realistis magis yang menjadi salah satu karya terabik dari salman rushdie yang terbit pada 1981. Novel ini berkisah tentang anak-anak yang lahir tengah malam di tanggal 15 agutsus 1947 yang bertepatan dengan hari kemerdekaan Negara India. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk menggambarkan kehidupan di India setelah poklamasi kemerdekaan yang digambarkan oleh Salman Rushdie melalui kehidupan anak-anak tengah malam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatip desriptif dengan metode analisis konten. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra dalam memahami hubungan karya sastra dengan fenomena sosial yang terjadi di India pada awal kemerdekaan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Obsesi Tokoh Theodore Finch Dalam Novel All the Bright Places Karya Jennifer Niven. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gambaran karakter tokoh dan obsesi tokoh Theodore Finch dalam Novel All the Bright Places karya Jennifer Niven. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dan pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan psikologi sastra. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik baca dan catat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa Tokoh Theodore Finch memiliki karakter yang menyenangkan, rendah diri, freak (aneh), senang menutupi kesedihan/ kesakitannya, orang yang selalu mencari masalah, mudah putus asa, dan senang berhalusinasi. Gambaran obsesi tokoh Theodore Finch terjadi karena adanya ketakutan adaptif dan maladaptif, faktor sosial, psikologi, dan biologi.

Abstract

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) merupakan Perguruan tinggi yang terbilang masih muda dengan jumlah mahasiswa yang cukup banyak. UMMI senantiasa berupaya untuk terus meningkatkan kualitas penyelenggaraannya melalui implementasi program-program prioritas berdasarkan hasil evaluasi diri khususnya dalam hal peningkatan kompetensi dosen dan kualitas pelayanannya. Namun masih terdapat permasalahan pada kepuasan mahasiswa yakni pada dimensi kesesuaian harapan yaitu mahasiswa belum merasa puas dengan layanan akademik Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur pengaruh kualitas pelayanan akademik dan kompetensi dosen  bidang akademik terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dan metode asosiatif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan data yang penelti gunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi. Penarikan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampling probability sampling dengan jenis proportionate stratified random sampling. Jumlah sampel yang diambil harus sama porsinya dengan jumlah mahasiswa sesuai dengan fakultasnya masing-masing, dengan jumlah keseluruhan 100 mahasiswa.  Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis regresi linear berganda, termasuk uji koefisien determinasi, koefisien kolerasi ganda, uji secara simultan (uji F) dan uji secara parsial (uji T). Hasil penelitian menunjukan variabel kepuasan mahasiswa dengan persentase 84% dapat dijelaskan oleh kedua  variabel independen yaitu kualitas pelayanan dan kompetensi dosen. Sementara 16% berasal dari faktor  yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian.Kata kunci: Kepuasan Mahasiswa;Kompetensi Dosen; Kualitas Pelayanan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Refleksi Sosial dalam Novel Down and Out in Paris and London Karya George Orwell: Kajian Sastra Marxisme. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kesan sosial yang terkandung dalam novel Down and Out in Paris and London Karya George Orwell melalui kajian sastra marxisme. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian kali ini merupakan kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dan pendekatan sastra marxis sosiologis. Secara umum, penelitian ini mengumpulkan data dengan menggunakan teknik baca dan catat.Secara khusus, data dalam penelitian ini menyajikan data yang berkaitan dengan kontruksi sosial dan materialisme historis berdasarkan kajian sastra marxisme melalui aspek sosial, latar sosial, dan alur yang terdapat dalam novel Turun dan Keluar di Paris dan London Karya George Orwell.

Abstract

Moral education in an era full of technological sophistication is needed so that life is not arbitrary. If the morals of youth, especially ummi students, do not have good morals, it is difficult for lecturers to create the next generation of Islamic culture. Religion and culture influence each other. Religion affects cultures, groups, communities, and ethnic groups. Culture tends to change which has implications for the authenticity of religion. The methodology of this research uses the distribution of questionnaires and filling out questionnaires aimed at students who have followed the Aqidah Morals course using a quantitative approach. The method used is descriptive associative method. This research uses descriptive because it is described based on the results of facts in the field. There are three variables, namely Y Islamic culture, XI course values, and X2 understanding. The Regression Model/Equation Y -2.404 + 1.005x₁ + 0964x₂ Y Culture X₁ Value X₂ Understanding With the regression model above, it is known if the value and understanding are constant (zero ) then the Islamic culture of students at UMMI will have a negative value, so that it can be concluded "Students' values and understanding of Aqidah Akhlak courses play an important role in building Islamic culture of students at UMMI." become a person's culture and habits. So that the culture of having good morals becomes a good culture, both for individuals as servants of God, or as social beings. Research can be a tip to build and create students to become students who have Islamic culture and have good morals.

Abstract

The title of this research is the fulfillment of Need Main Character Lina in the Novel Between Shades of gray by Ruta Sepetys. Lina is the main character in the novel who tries to fulfilled her needs when she and her family were deported by the Soviet red army. This research aims to find out how Lina fulfilled her needs through the theory of the hierarchy of needs fulfillment by Maslow. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, in which the researcher presented the data in a descriptive form or the data itself is not presented in the form of numbers. The approach used is a literary psychology approach while researchers use reading and note-taking techniques as data collection techniques. The final results of this study show that Lina has succeeded to fulfilling her needs according to hierarchy of needs fulfillment theory. Abstract

The title of this research is the Friendship Values ​​of Anna in the Novel When Marnie Was There by Joan G Robinson. This study aims to find out how the two main characters, namely Anna and Marnie, live their friendship. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to describe Anna and Marnie's friendship values, the approach used in this study is an objective approach. The results of this study show that the friendship of the two characters, namely Anna and Marnie, has friendship values ​​of self-disclosure, intimacy, self-esteem support, loyalty, prosaically behavior. Abstract

This research is entitled "The misery of an alcoholic's life portrayed in Paula Hawkins' the Girl on the Train.". The purpose of this study is to describe the background of the misery experienced by Rachel's character. A poor woman who has an unlucky fate and her life is full of sadness. The approach used in this research is a psychoanalytic approach. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study indicate that one of the causes of Rachel's misery is the effect of alcohol. Rachel is an alcoholic, so it's hard to control herself. Throughout the story in this novel, alcohol is one of the most dominating and has an impact on Rachel. Rachel has an internal conflict. She experienced conflict with herself, on the one hand she tried to stop being an alcoholic but her intentions always failed because she was an alcoholic who was classified as acute. Some serious problems appear from this alcohol addiction. From the results of the analysis, it was found that alcohol was behind Rachel's misery, including divorce, job loss and depression. Keywords: Misery, Paula Hawkins, The Effect of Alcohol, Alcoholic, internal conflict, psychoanalytic approach

Abstract

This study examines the social life of the character Anne in the novel Persuasion, a classic novel written by Jane Austen. There are two formulations of the problem. The first issue is about how Anne Elliot's character is described in Persuasion. The second problem is about how gender and social class issues are related to Anne's life. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Anne Elliot is a wonderful person, charming, friendly, intelligent, open-minded, multi-talented and helpful. In the Middle Ages, women were considered powerless to make decisions and had to obey the rules of family and society, not preventing Anne from fighting for what she really wanted. Anne, who came from a prominent family where her father was in a high position at work, was willing and able to break the rules against relations of different social status and class. His awareness and power to make decisions eventually lead him to true love and true happiness, without interference, coercion, and persuasion from others.

Abstract

Salah satu cara mencintai kebudayaan Indonesia adalah dengan mengenalkan bentuk kebudayaan itu sendiri kepada masyarakat dan sekitarnya. Agar bangsa Indonesia mengenal kebudayaannya sendiri, pemerintah telah membuat peraturan berupa Undang-Undang No 5 tahun 2017 tentang Pemajuan Kebudayaan. Pelatihan gerak dan tari tradisonal, khususnya Jaipong, merupakan salah satu upaya dari Program Studi Sastra Inggris kepada ibu-ibu Darma Wanita Dinas Sosial Kabupaten Sukabumi untuk mengenalkan bentuk kebudayaan seni Sunda. Adapun tujuan dari pelatihan ini adalah (1) mengingatkan kembali bahwa seni Tari Jaipong adalah seni Sunda yang pernah berjaya pada masanya; (2) lewat tari tradisional Jaipong yang energik, bisa menggantikan gerakan olah raga, karena dengan latihan melalui gerakan tari tersebut mampu mengeluarkan keringat. Hasil kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dari pelatihan ini menunjukkan bahwa tari tradisional memiliki banyak manfaat, tidak hanya dalam pengembangan kebudayaan, namun juga dapat menjadi sarana masyarakat dalam bersosialisasi. Pelatihan tari tradisional juga memiliki banyak manfaat baik untuk tubuh, sama halnya seperti gerakan senam atau olahraga.
