Abstract

Schizophrenia is one of the chronic mental disorders. Patients of schizophrenia cannotcommunicate with others properly. Also, they cannot produce good utterances syntactically andsemantically. This is caused by their language dysfunction. In this research, I am interested inanalyzing language dysfunction in schizophrenia. I choose Toni Blank‟s utterances in “ToniBlank Show Session One” as the object of my research. I focus on how schizophrenic‟s languagedysfunctions are classified and how these dysfunctions are being analyzed using linguisticframework. To analyze the data, I used Thought, Language, and Communication (TLC) scaleand cohesion coherence frameworks. The purpose of this study is to give linguistic analysisabout phenomena of language dysfunctions uttered by Toni Blank in “Toni Blank Show SessionOne”. The data used in this research are utterances which contain language dysfunctions fromthree episodes in “Toni Blank Show Session One”, entitled “Valentine Day”, “Teroris”, and“Sehat Ala Mas Toni”. I used purposive sampling to collect the data. In analyzing the data, I usedPadan and Agih methods by Sudaryanto (1993). To interpret the data, I used cohesion andcoherence framework. In 26 utterances which contain schizophrenic‟s language dysfunctions in“Toni Blank Show Session One”, I find that the language dysfunctions which are uttered by Toniare poverty of content, tangentiality, loss of goal, circumstantiality, illogicality, incoherence(word salad), neologism, clanging, echolalia, and self-reference. Poverty of speech, pressure ofspeech, distractibility, derailment, stilted speech, perseveration, and blocking are not found in thedata.

Abstract

In PasarJohar Semarang, it is found a lot of sellers selling their goods or their services to domestics or even foreign purchasers, but especially society in Semarang. PasarJohar is a place for those who like shopping, especially for searching batik or other clothes. In this final project, the writer tries to conduct research with a different subject of research that is variety of language used by sellers and purchasers. It is expected to find out the characteristics of language used by some sellers and purchasers in PasarJohar Semarang.

Abstract

Penggunaan alih kode dan campur kode dalam bahasa penulisan kini kian marak di masyarakat Indonesia terutama pada penulisan artikel di majalah.Majalah Cosmopolitan Indonesia merupakan salah satu majalah yang banyak memuat alih kode dan campur kode pada artikelnya.Adanya variasi bahasa dalam penulisan artikel menggunakan alih kode dan campur kode mempermudah penulis menyampaikan pesan dan juga pembaca untuk mengerti isi pesan. Selain itu penggunaan alih kode dan campur kode dengan bahasa asing menjadikan suatu gaya hidup atau tren baru dalam masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kegunaan dan faktor adanya alih kode dan campur kode yang terjadi di majalah Cosmopolitan Indonesia.Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan final project ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang sistematis, nyata, dan akurat. Dalam pengumpulan data, penulis melakukan note taking dalam artikel di majalah Cosmopolitan Indonesia, kemudian meneliti pada setiap kalimat dan tuturan yang ada dalam artikel.Hasil penelitian final project ini ialah penggunaan alih kode dan campur kode dengan bahasa asing di majalah Cosmopolitan terjadi karena penulis ingin membuat pembaca lebih mudah menerima pesan yang disampaikan, bahasa yang digunakan sesuai dengan tren masa kini dan penggunaan bahasa yang lebih tepat dalam menyampaikan sesuatu.

Abstract

This research deals with the situations and conditions happened in England at the end of the seventeenth century especially about domination the man over the woman who was reflected in William Blake’s poem Earth’s Answer. Based on the fact that there are relations between history and literary, this thesis analyzes the domination the man over the woman who was reflected in William Blake’s poem Earth’s Answer. The aim of this research is to understand the poem of William Blake. Besides understanding the poem, this thesis also tries to analyze social problem about domination the man over the woman reflected in William Blake poem. The writer not only uses the library research methode but also structural approach. By using the library research method, the writer gets much information as the reference of writing this thesis. Whereas, by using structural approach the writer could understand the poem supported by history of England at the end of the seventeenth century. The result of this analysis is that focussed on the domination the man over the woman that happened in England as the result of the revolution of industry. This condition became more serious as the result of the slavery and prostitution of the woman.

Abstract

This book review is written to find the strength and the weakness in Angela’s Ashes which iswritten by Frank Mc Court. “The Book Review of Angela’s Ashes” is focusing on the content ofthe novel finding the strength and the weakness. The strengths are theme, character setting, and moral value, the weakness is the end of the story. The plot conveys how the author describes allsituations in this novel clearly and the main character shares readers about how to face the worldand he shares lot of values in his life as poor boy. The weakness is the end of the story. Mc Courtdoes not give explanation about how is the novel continuity. This novel conveys about how to bea person that always keeping strong for this life and there are so many moral values in this novel.

Abstract

Every human being has a certain way in communication. One of them is to communicate using another language to facilitate the listener to understand the message that is delivered. Code mixing is a phenomenon that often occurs in bilingual conversation, one of the examples of code mixing phenomenon can be found in sports program, especially in a football match program on television. This study is intended to determine and to explain the types and forms of code mixing that is often used by the presenters in presenting a program. The result of this study shows that the form of code mixing that is often used is the word insertion of outer code mixing, that is a mixing of a language with a foreign language because the football terms in English are more popular than the football terms in Indonesian.

Abstract

This book review is arranged with the purpose to show the strengths and weaknesses of a novel entitled Skipping Christmas, authored by an American author, John Grisham. This novel tells a story of the Kranks couple who wanted to skip Christmas to go on a cruise instead. This novel is the only comedy novel that is written by John Grisham who is a well-known thriller author.                                                                                                                        The strengths of the novels are the moral value of the novel, the cover design, and the greatness of the author’s name. This novel tells what Christmas is about. The greatness of the author’s name and the cover design are very powerful to attract people to buy and read the novel. The weaknesses of the novels are the dictions and the naratology of the novel that is too detailed. The author tends to use difficult words to tell the story. There are too many details in the novel to bore the readers. The main aim of this book review is to give a picture about the novel and a reference for the readers before reading the whole novel.

Abstract

Android is an operating system for mobile device, such as smartphones and tablet computers that was developed by Google. In this era, android is a popular operating system that is searched by people because of necessary of information. The process and structure of android application names are interesting to be analyzed since they have different structure of words in general. The purpose research is to describe and explain which word formation processes and phrase structure that are commonly used in Android Application Names. In this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method. The technique to process the data is Teknik Bagi Unsur Langsung. The writer found 100 android application names in android phone with 10 word formation processes that form those; they are 39 words compounding, 21 words multiple processes, 9 words which was formed acronym and initialization, 9 words back formation, 7 words conversion, 5 words clipping, 3 words blending, 3 words borrowing, 3 words inflection, and also 1 word which was formed derivation. Based on the phrase structure, the writer 84 words noun phrase, 15 words verb phrase, and 1 word infinitival phrase. The result shows that noun phrase is frequent phrases that can be found in the android phone.

Abstract

In this thesis, the writer analyzes a poem entitled Ad by Kenneth Flexner Fearing. The poem tells about World War II that contents satire. The writer uses satire as a theme because satire is element of art that uses to criticize or to show a stupidity or corruption of an individual or group toward other people that is illustrated with humor, mock and exaggerated statement and a ridiculous thing that make the other people laugh. The writer uses the satire in this poem because it can change or improve people’s behavior into better quality. The writer analyzes satire in intrinsic element of Ad such as satire in the diction, symbol and imagery. The writer also analyzes satire in the extrinsic element and condition of society in the poem through the sociology approach. For the method of analysis, the writer uses library research which is the writer takes many resources from library such as journals, book etc that can be used as the main information. The writer also uses internet resources to provide more information that is needed. The result of the thesis shows that the poem satirizes the society that lives in the World War II era.
