Abstract

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are associated with various negative impacts on the mental health of emerging adults. Previous studies have shown that post-traumatic personal growth after a particularly challenging event can be facilitated by the adoption of emotional coping strategies, such as forgiveness. This study examines the relationship between forgiveness and post-traumatic growth among emerging adults with ACEs in Indonesia. The sample consisted of 152 emerging adults, aged 18-25 years (M = 21.53; SD = 1.919), mostly female (92.1%), and reported at least one ACEs during their childhood. The instruments in this study were the WHO ACE-International Questionnaire, Post-traumatic Growth Inventory (21 items, α= 0.922) and the Forgiveness Scale (34 items, α = 0.935). Analysis was performed using Spearman's rho. The results of the study revealed that forgiveness was positively and significantly correlated with post-traumatic growth (rxy .471, p= .000). The originality of this study revealed that the three dimensions of forgiveness are strongly related to post-traumatic personal growth in ACEs survivors. This article expands the discussion on the inconsistency of the role of the forgiveness dimension towards others. Based on these results, the development of a forgiveness-based intervention to enhance post-traumatic personal growth for ACE survivors is proposed

Abstract

Low peer attachment to adolescents in Indonesia can have an impact on emotional behavior such as low emotional regulation. This study aims to determine the relationship between peer attachment and emotion regulation in adolescents . Amount participants on study this as much 152 adolescent girls and boys aged 13-18 years. This research uses the method quantitative. The scales used in this study were the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) and the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment -Revisited (IPPA-R) . The results of the study explain that there are connection positive which significant Among peer attachment and regulation of adolescent emotions with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.278 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the higher the level of peer attachment, the higher the ability to regulate emotions, the opposite applies. Based on those results could concluded that the hypothesis in this research accepted. Data analysis of aspect intercorrelation, demographic difference test (gender, education level, extracurricular activities), correlation test based on demographics (gender, education level, extracurricular activities) will be discussed further

Abstract

Compassionate love is an important concept in a relationship, defined as an attitude towards other people, both close others and foreign; contain feelings, cognitions, and behaviors that focus on caring, attention, tenderness, and orientation to support, help, and understand others. The purpose of this study is to validate Compassionate Love Scale (CLS) developed by Sprecher and Fehr. The method of translating into Indonesian refers to the International Test Commission. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted on data from 185 subjects (consisting of mothers and caregivers). The results show that the second order CFA measurement model is a model that is fit with CLS. The reliability of the three CLS dimensions is high based on Composite Reliability (CR) and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) values, namely: (1) tenderness and caring (0.895; 0.552); (2) acceptance and understanding (0.907; 0.594); and (3) helping and sacrifice (0.954; 0.749). In addition, CLS also fulfills convergent and discriminant validity. Thus, Compassionate Love Scale (CLS) translation results are a valid and reliable scale for use in Indonesia.

Abstract

Today's social relations can be done by someone both offline and online. Online social relationships can not only be woven with fellow humans. Chatbot as a form of artificial intelligence continues to develop various skills that resemble humans. This study aims to understand the use of chatbots as friends in human life, especially focusing on the advantages and limitations. The method used is a literature review that involves 10 articles about chatbots as human friends from the user's point of view. Article databases used in this review are ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Emerald Insight, and ProQuest Research Library. Chatbots are friends with various conveniences such as being easily accessible by anyone, anytime, and anywhere. Chatbots are considered to have various emotional skills that can understand their users without judgment. The weakness of chatbots is the potential for failure to understand users' talk. Chatbots can act as everyday friends when there are no human friends to contact with

Abstract

The parenting of children with special needs is important in order that children can develop optimally within the parameters of their particular needs. However, parenting children with special needs can be challenging for parents as it is high-demand over a long period of time. The current study aims to provide an overview of the parenting of children with special needs and of factors that can assist parents in caring for their children with special needs. The research adopts quantitative descriptive methods using a questionnaire as the tool for data collection. Research respondents included 89 parents of children with special needs. The results of the study indicate that mothers are more involved in parenting. In addition, parents experience relatively high levels of stress, with the main sources of stress being the day-to-day demands of parenting and worrying about their children’s futures. Spousal support and religion can act as consolidating factors for parents in facing the challenges of parenting

Abstract

People who violate legal norms and are sentenced to criminal penalties will live their daily lives in Correctional Institutions whose conditions are much different from people's lives. So it requires resilience and social support in undergoing detention. This study aims to determine the role of social support and resilience in research. This study uses a literature study method by reviewing research articles from 2012 to 2021 visited at Springer Link, Science Direct, Semantic Scholar, and Google Scholar. From the search results on four search sources, 10 relevant journals are obtained for further review. The articles reviewed are in English, research participants are prisoners, use a quantitative research design, and focus on social support and resilience in research. From ten journals reviewed, the key is that resilience has an important role in life in prison and can be influenced by several factors, namely support from the environment, spirituality, self-esteem, and self-acceptance. Social support is important for work to facilitate the transition, and avoid recidivism and is very helpful for reducing health morbidity, life satisfaction, and social adjustment to prison. Resilience and social support are protective factors for the mental health of prisoners while in prison, and resilience can mediate the relationship between social support and mental health.

Abstract

The increasingly life demands make people easy to do debt. One of the best way for people to get amount of money is through online lending application. This study aims to identify the dynamic of debt behavior on online lending application users through systematic literature review. Online database used in this study including Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink. Based on review, we have found 30 articles that are compatible to this study. 5 of 30 articles are strongly selected to be reviewed. The criteria of these selected articles are International and National based research, full text is available and published from 2015-2022. Evaluation method PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) is used in this study. Result found that debt behavior on online lending application users caused by lower economic situation, social environment influence, and function factor of environment. A future study suggest to explore the negative impact of debt behavior experienced by lending application users.

Abstract

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has altered the workplace and created the need to monitor employee performance in new ways to ensure the use of the internet remains productive during the new normal. Employees' engagement in the non-work-related use of the internet or cyberloafing in the new-normal era is interesting to discuss, where technology and information are developing so rapidly, increasingly blurring the line between work and non-work times. This paper investigates the literature related to recent advances in the concept of cyberloafing and discusses the need for developing new cyberloafing instruments. The research method used was a mini systematic literature review. The mini-review obtained thirteen articles meeting the criteria. In this paper, we also outline some recommendations for future research.

Abstract

The high incidence of non-suicidal self-injury becomes a need to be understood. Self-injury needs to get serious attention because the cases were increasing every year and can cause death even though there was no intention to commit suicide. The aims of the study were to build a deep understanding of participant’s experiences in doing self-injury and after stopping the behavior. This study is a qualitative study of Phenomenology, with a self-injury survivor as the participant. This research has gained ethical clearance and produced interview data which were then analyzed with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The interview emerged seven key themes related to self-injury including interpersonal relationships as trigger, uncontrolled urge, form of emotions regulation, a way to communicate, self-injury changes, positive coping strategies affect the reduction, and positive interpersonal relationships reduced self-injury. This study showed that the emergence of self-injury was strongly influenced by negative interpersonal relations. Repetitions of self-injury were formed due to the uncontrolled urge and the lack of positive strategies that can provide the same satisfaction. Environment’s support and acceptance can be the main keys to reduce self-injury. In addition, non-destructive coping strategies to express negative emotions needs to be taught and socialized from early age.

Abstract

Dual-career family is a family phenomenon in which the father and mother both work outside the home so that the practice of parenting involves internal or external parties (eg grandparents, uncles, neighbors, household assistants, or day care). This study is a systematic literature review that aims to examine dual career family parenting. Online databases used: Scient Direct, Google Scholar, Springer, and Sage Journal with the keyword "childcare" AND "dual career families” OR “dual earner family” OR “dual income family” OR “dual worker family”. Following PRISMA-2015, this study applies inclusion criteria (peer review articles, literature study of quantitative methods, articles on parenting of children with dual career families, parenting of children with stages of childhood development). Total (N= 4 articles) were involved in the review process after going through the screening and selection process. The results of the review show difference in dual career family parenting practices in various countries based on family development theory. The results of this study show that in Finland formal child care is lower than in the Netherlands, and finds that informal parenting is higher in the UK. As for another study in South Korea, it was found that when the baby was a dual career family, they practiced child care in a certain institution. On the other hand, it was found in Spain that the upbringing of dual career family children is through parenting by grandparents. This indicates where a particular family system develops dynamic functions as the family travels and develops. Family development theory becomes a systematic framework for determining the functions of the family unit in accordance with the development that has been passed.
