Abstract

Brand switching is one of the most appealing objects to be studied. Companies need to know what motivate consumer to switch and using competitor’s product. This paper will specifically use carbonated beverage market in Indonesia as the object of study. The purpose of this study is to test the strength of the price, the variety-seeking and the word of mouth in regards to brand switching on carbonated beverage productnamely Coca-Cola and Big Cola brand. Independent variables used in this research consisted of price (X1), the need for variation (X2) and word of mouth (X3), while the dependent variable is brand switching (Y).The sample consisted of 100 respondents in Semarang City, which was taken using purposive sampling technique. The analysing tool is SPSS 21.0 which used to complete validity test, reliability test, the classic assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, hypothesis testing via F test and t test, and analysis of the coefficient of determination (R²). Based from the analysis, the regression equation is: Y = 0,314X1 + 0,226 X2 + 0,228 X3Price showed achieved the highest regression coefficient and it can be concluded that this variable is the most influencing factor in brand switching for carbonated beverage product. The second most important factor is the word of mouth, which later followed by need for variation. The coefficient of determination (adjusted R2) is 0.557, or 55.7 percent. This means the model is good enough. All three independent variables in this study can explain 55.7 percent of the variable Brand Switching. While the remaining 44.3 percent is explained by other variables outside of the three variables used in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how profitability differs between conventional banks and Islamic banks in Indonesia by analyzing the effect of Equity to Total Assets (ETA), Loan Loss Provision (LLP), Loan to Total Assets (LTA), Operation Costs (OC), Size , Non Interest Income (NII), and Market Power (MP) to ROA.Currently, Islamic banks are developing rapidly in Indonesia. Many conventional banks began to open sharia activities, so that the majority of Indonesian people who are Muslim can use the services of banks without having to fear usury (riba). The sample in this study is conventional commercial banks that open business activities according to sharia principles, and all Islamic commercial banks which are subsidiaries of conventional commercial banks or the results of conversion from conventional commercial banks, with the period from 2011 to 2018 and their financial statements can be accessed through Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) website, Bloomberg, and official website of the these banks. The method used in this study uses multiple regression analysis with a hypothesis testing tool that is the t test and the F test. However, before conducting multiple regression analysis, the classical assumption test is first performed. To analyze the differences, the Chow-Test and Independent-T Test Sample are used.Through partial hypothesis test results (t test) on conventional commercial banks, it shows that LLP, LTA, SIZE, NII, and MP variables have a significant effect on ROA. Whereas Islamic banks show that the variables ETA, LLP, OC, NII, and MP significantly influence ROA. Adjusted R² in regression models with conventional banks amounted to 80.1%; whereas in Islamic banks is 76.6%. Based on the Chow-Test it can be concluded that there are significant differences from the influence of independent variables on ROA of conventional commercial banks and Islamic commercial banks so that the profitability between the two types of banks is different.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the infulence of Capital Adequacy Ratio, Loan to Deposit Ratio, Loan Loss Provision and Net Interest Margin to credit risk that measured by NPL. This research is made because there is non performing loan in many years ago. Altough NPL ratio is still under maximum limit, banks have to control the movement of the NPL ratio every years. This research uses multiple linear regression analysis to test the hypotesis. Research population used is all independent variabels data (CAR, LDR, LLP and NIM). Type of data used in the form of time series data that restricted to the data of each variable yearly starting from the period 2008 period to 2014 period. The result showed that the LDR and LLPhas significant positive effect on Non Performing Loan ratio. While CAR has no effect on the Non Performing Loan and NIM has significant  negatif effect on the Non Performing Loan Ratio. In addition, it was found that the value of adjusted R square is 31,2% of the movement of NPL can be predicted from the four variables, while at 68,8% is explained by other variables outside the model. In addition the research found that the LDR, CAR and NIM, has a high variation during seven years of observation. Significant positive of LDR effect be the culprit because the instability of the LDR affecting the stability of NPL.
