Abstract

This study aims to develop an Electronic Student Worksheet to improve the ability to write descriptive texts of junior high school students assisted by Liveworksheets. This study is a development research (R&D), with a research method that applies the ADDIE model consisting of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. The subjects in this study were grade VII junior high school students in the city of Surakarta. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the form of Electronic Student Worksheet contains identity, open materials, activities or practice questions, evaluations, conclusions or feedback that are arranged regularly. The impact after using E-LKPD on the ability to write descriptive texts of junior high school students is 19.37. At an average value of the initial condition of students of 58.12 in the pre-test, an average value of 61.25 was obtained and for the post-test, a significant increase in value was obtained, namely 80.62.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the constructivism theory paradigm developed by John Dewey and explore its relevance to implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. Dewey's theory of constructivism emphasizes the importance of direct experience and reflection in active learning, where students construct knowledge through interaction with the real world. The method used in this research is a literature review, which involves analyzing Dewey's main texts related to constructivism theory and documents and policies related to the Merdeka curriculum. The analysis technique is carried out by comparing Dewey's principles of constructivism with the characteristics of Merdeka curriculum which focuses on flexibility, freedom of learning, and the development of 21st century skills. The results show that Dewey's principles of constructivism, such as experiential learning, collaboration, and reflection, are very relevant and can be applied in Merdeka curriculum to create a more innovative and student-centered learning environment and the importance of students' freedom to learn according to their potential and interests.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of adversity quotient (AQ) in the success of mathematics learning. AQ refers to an individual's ability to survive and overcome difficulties in learning, which is particularly relevant in the context of mathematics which is often considered a challenging subject. This article examines the history and development of the concept of AQ, how it differs from other intelligences such as IQ and EQ, as well as AQ development strategies to improve achievement in mathematics. This study uses a literature review method by analyzing academic literature in the last 10-15 years. Challenges include the complexity of mathematical concepts, misunderstandings, anxiety, lack of motivation, diverse learning styles, a less supportive learning environment, and different starting abilities. AQ, which refers to a person's ability to persevere in the face of adversity, plays a crucial role in helping students overcome these challenges. This research discusses the history and development of the concept of AQ, its dimensions, its differences with other intelligences such as IQ and EQ, and its important role in overcoming the challenges of mathematics learning. The results of the study show that AQ contributes significantly to improving students' motivation, learning resilience, and problem-solving skills in mathematics. This study provides recommendations for educators in creating a supportive learning environment as well as strategies to improve students' AQ.

Abstract

Pancasila and Civic Education learning is often considered less interesting by students, especially when the delivery of material is abstract and monotonous. This can have an impact on students' low interest in learning, motivation, and learning outcomes. To overcome these challenges, comic strip media was introduced as an innovative approach that aims to create a more interesting, interactive, and easy-to-understand learning atmosphere. This study aims to explore the application of comic strip media in learning to improve student learning outcomes in SB Ampang Malaysia. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data analysis is carried out including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The main informants in this study include teachers, students, and learning program managers. The results of the study showed that the use of comic strip media had a positive impact on learning. Comic strips that contain visual illustrations and story narratives that are relevant to Pancasila and Civic Education materials help students understand Pancasila values, civic and national character more concretely. In addition, this media also increases students' active involvement in classroom activities such as discussions, questions and answers, and simple comic creation projects. Comic strips are able to foster interest in learning, trigger motivation and develop students critical thinking skills. Students become more confident in expressing opinions and showing enthusiasm in participating in learning. The measurement of learning outcomes in the context of qualitative research is carried out through observation of changes in student behavior, reflective interviews, and analysis of student learning outcomes. Cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects were assessed holistically based on student activity, material understanding, attitude towards lessons, and skills in expressing material content through visual media. Thus, comic strip media can be used as an innovative and effective alternative learning strategy, especially in the context of education for the children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia. The use of this media should be expanded and developed in various subjects and receive support through teacher training to be more optimal in its design.

Abstract

The "Design for Project Learning" instructional innovation integrates Design Thinking principles into Project-Based Learning (PjBL), enabling students to identify problems, develop creative solutions, present prototypes, and foster 21st-century skills. The objective is to design the "Design for Project Learning" model as a learning framework that prioritizes projects as the primary medium for learning, using Design Thinking principles to guide the development process. The methodology employed in this study is based on the educational problem-solving model developed by Plomp but limited to the first three phases. The findings from the initial investigation phase indicate the identification of instructional strategies by integrating PjBL syntax with the development steps of Design Thinking. Subsequently, in the design phase, the syntax for the "Design for Project Learning" instructional model was established, known as CAKRAWALA (CA: Causal Analysis, KRA: Knowledge Repository Approach, WA: Workflow Analysis, and LA: Luminous Appraisal). In the realization phase, validation of the "Design for Project Learning" syntax was conducted, involving experts in instructional material, instructional design, and pedagogy. Based on the research findings, the "Design for Project Learning" instructional model has been validated and can be implemented, as well as tested in future studies to further refine the instructional design, potentially leading to the development of a new instructional model.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the design of contextual inquiry learning model to improve students’ science process skills in microbiology lectures. The design of learning model developed in the form of contextual inquiry learning model. This Research and Development covers three stages of research that are: Needs analysis, Development of contextual inquiry learning model, and Trial of learning design. The research instruments used to collect data consisted of validation sheets by material experts, designers, and linguists, and a description test to measure the skills of the science process. It used descriptive statistics for data analysis. A preliminary study conducted on 40 students attending microbiology lesson indicated the need for microbiology teaching design which applies active learning process based on contextual inquiry. The results of a limited trial of 34 experimental class students and 35 control class students found that the research hypothesis was accepted, which means that contextual inquiry learning model of microbiology enhances students’ process skills higher than conventional method.

Abstract

The main problem of research is whether the application of the listening team learning model can improve the sociology learning outcomes of the material values and social norms in class X students of Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Enrekang. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is divided into two cycles with 4 stages, namely: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting repeatedly. This research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Enrekang. The object of the research was the students of class X Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Enrekang for the 2019/2020 academic year with a total of 20 students, consisting of 7 male students and 13 female students. The results showed that: 1) Sociology learning outcomes increased through the listening team learning model from the first cycle in the category with a very low score of 15%, a low score of 55%, and a moderate score of 30%. Sociology learning outcomes in cycle II are in the category of medium score 60% and high score 25%, and very high score 15%. 2) The results of the qualitative analysis show that there are changes that occur in students' attitudes during the learning process by the results of observations, namely the application of the listening team learning model on material values and social norms can improve student learning outcomes, student interest in learning and can increase student attendance.

Abstract

The integration of cultural context in mathematics teaching materials is a form of implementing ethnomathematics-based teaching. It is an effort of making mathematics learning easier and meaningful. This paper reports the effect of an ethnomathematics teaching material on students’ understanding of linear equations at the Department of Primary Education Universitas Syiah Kuala. 105 students participated in the study. Students’ understanding was assessed using a test. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative method. Students’ understanding of linear equation was analyzed based on 3 aspects of solving linear equation problems: correctly translate word problems into linear equation, perform calculation correctly, and give correct final answer. Results showed that more than 83% of the students could answer the test satisfactorily. Therefore, it is concluded that the implementation of the ethnomathematics teaching material helps students understand linear equation. This finding implies that the implementation of ethnomathematics teaching material is beneficial for mathematics learning.

Abstract

Learning physics on the subject of energy still seems difficult for students. To overcome this problem, teaching materials that can clearly explain physics concepts such as modules were needed. The purpose of this research was to develop a physics learning module that is suitable as teaching material referring to the expert validator's assessment. The research method used was the research and development method with the development process using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The data collection instrument consisted of material expert validation sheets, media experts and linguists. The results of the study obtained the percentage of the validation value of 83.86% with a good category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the physics learning module based on discovery learning on the subject of energy was valid to be used as an alternative teaching material in physics learning.
