Abstract

Background. The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has raised significant concerns regarding its potential impacts on human rights, ethics, and governance. While AI promises advancements in efficiency and innovation, its opaque decision-making processes, often referred to as the "black box" problem, create challenges for regulators aiming to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability. This study conducts a comparative policy analysis of national strategies for governing AI, with a particular focus on how different countries address human rights concerns within their AI regulatory frameworks. Purpose. The research aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of existing AI governance models and propose best practices for integrating human rights principles into AI regulation. Method. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes AI policies from the European Union, the United States, China, and India. Results. The findings reveal significant variations in the approach to regulating AI, with the EU emphasizing transparency and ethical guidelines, while countries like China prioritize state control and surveillance. Conclusion. The study concludes that a balanced approach, which incorporates human rights safeguards alongside technological innovation, is crucial for the responsible development and deployment of AI. The paper recommends stronger international cooperation and the establishment of a global framework for AI governance.

Abstract

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI)–driven monitoring systems in contemporary workplaces has transformed performance management practices and intensified digital supervision. While such systems promise efficiency and data-driven decision-making, concerns have emerged regarding their psychological consequences. Technostress theory suggests that continuous technological exposure may generate strain, yet limited longitudinal evidence exists on how AI-based monitoring influences personnel flourishing over time. This study aims to examine the dynamic relationship between AI-driven monitoring intensity, technostress dimensions, and psychological well-being using a longitudinal framework. A three-wave panel design was implemented with full-time employees working in organizations utilizing AI-based performance analytics. Data were collected at four-month intervals and analyzed using cross-lagged structural equation modeling to assess causal pathways and moderating effects. Measures included monitoring intensity, technostress dimensions, flourishing indicators, perceived organizational support, and digital literacy. Results indicate that AI-driven monitoring significantly predicts increased technostress, particularly techno-invasion and techno-overload, which subsequently reduce personnel flourishing across time. Technostress mediates the relationship between monitoring and well-being, while organizational support buffers negative effects. Partial adaptation was observed but did not fully restore flourishing levels. The findings underscore the importance of human-centered AI governance to sustain psychological well-being in digitally monitored workplaces.

Abstract

The increasing demand for active, engaging, and meaningful learning in higher education has encouraged the adoption of innovative instructional strategies such as gamification. Traditional teaching approaches often struggle to sustain student motivation and to promote higher-order cognitive outcomes, particularly in digitally mediated learning environments. This study aims to examine the role of gamification in higher education by analyzing its effectiveness in enhancing student motivation and cognitive outcomes through game-based learning. A quantitative quasi-experimental research design was employed, involving undergraduate students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using validated motivation questionnaires and cognitive achievement tests aligned with course learning objectives, and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results demonstrate that students exposed to gamified learning environments show significantly higher levels of intrinsic motivation, engagement, and persistence compared to those in non-gamified settings. In addition, gamification was found to have a positive and significant effect on cognitive outcomes, particularly in comprehension, application, and problem-solving skills. These findings indicate that gamification contributes not only to affective engagement but also to meaningful cognitive development. In conclusion, the study confirms that well-designed gamification can function as an effective pedagogical approach in higher education, supporting both motivational and cognitive dimensions of learning when aligned with instructional goals.

Abstract

Background. This study evaluates the implementation of the Jaring Pengaman Sosial (JPS) program, focusing on vulnerable groups in urban and rural areas in Indonesia. Social protection policies are critical in addressing the needs of marginalized populations, especially during times of economic instability. However, the effectiveness and accessibility of such programs often vary significantly between urban and rural regions due to differences in infrastructure, administrative capacity, and socio-economic conditions. Purpose. The primary aim of this research is to assess the impact of JPS on urban and rural beneficiaries, examining differences in access to benefits, program satisfaction, and the specific challenges faced by each group. Method. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 500 participants (250 urban and 250 rural). Data analysis revealed that urban beneficiaries had higher satisfaction rates and better access to benefits, particularly cash transfers, while rural beneficiaries faced logistical barriers, including delays in benefit distribution and limited access to information. Results. The findings highlight significant disparities in the implementation and effectiveness of social protection programs across geographic regions. Conclusion. The study concludes that tailored interventions are necessary to ensure equitable access to benefits, particularly in rural areas, and recommends improving program delivery and targeting mechanisms to better address regional needs.

Abstract

Background. The rapid development of additive manufacturing, particularly 3D printing technology, has created new opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to engage in flexible and low-volume production within the digital economy. Energy efficiency has become a critical factor influencing the operational feasibility of this technology, especially for SMEs that operate with limited financial resources and infrastructure. Understanding the energy performance of 3D printing machines is therefore essential for evaluating their potential role in supporting sustainable entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation. Purpose. This study aims to analyze the energy efficiency of 3D printing machines in additive manufacturing processes and examine their potential contribution to strengthening local SMEs and expanding economic opportunities in the digital era. Method. The research employs a quantitative experimental design combined with descriptive analysis. Energy consumption data were collected using digital power meters during standardized printing experiments involving several desktop 3D printers commonly used by SMEs. Statistical analysis was conducted to compare machine efficiency and evaluate the relationship between printing parameters and electricity consumption. Results. The findings indicate significant differences in energy consumption across machine types and printing configurations. Optimized parameter settings and efficient machine architecture reduce electricity usage and operational costs. Evidence from SME production contexts demonstrates that energy-efficient additive manufacturing supports faster prototyping and flexible small-scale production. Conclusion. Energy-efficient 3D printing technology represents a promising tool for strengthening SME productivity and fostering inclusive economic development in the digital era.

Abstract

Background. The rapid expansion of social media has transformed political communication by introducing algorithmically curated information environments that shape users’ exposure to content. Concerns have emerged regarding the echo chamber effect, where individuals are predominantly exposed to ideologically aligned information, potentially intensifying political polarization and limiting deliberative discourse. Purpose. The present study aims to examine the extent to which social media algorithms contribute to the formation of echo chambers and to assess their influence on patterns of political engagement and perception. Method. A mixed-methods research design was employed, combining quantitative network analysis and survey data from 300 participants with qualitative interviews and computational analysis of platform interactions. Results. The findings indicate that algorithmic filtering significantly reinforces exposure to homogeneous content, leading to increased ideological clustering and higher levels of perceived polarization. Evidence further suggests that user attempts to diversify information sources are constrained by persistent algorithmic personalization. Conclusion. The study concludes that the echo chamber effect is a socio-technical phenomenon driven by the interaction between user behavior and algorithmic systems, with significant implications for democratic communication.

Abstract

Background. Organizations are under immense pressure to modernize legacy systems to stay competitive in a fast-changing tech landscape. While Generative AI is recognized as a key driver for productivity and innovation, the specific link between upgrading old systems and achieving organizational agility in the AI era remains largely underexplored. Purpose. This study aims to evaluate how legacy system modernization impacts organizational agility within the context of Generative AI integration. It seeks to understand if these technical upgrades serve as a strategic foundation for fostering adaptability and long-term resilience. Method. The research utilized a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Data was gathered from key stakeholders across 30 organizations that have successfully completed the modernization of their legacy infrastructures. Results. The findings show significant improvements in decision-making speed, market responsiveness, and operational flexibility. The study highlights that modernization is a critical enabler for faster Generative AI adoption, which directly enhances an organization's overall agility. Conclusion. Modernizing legacy systems is a strategic investment rather than a mere technical necessity. It builds technological resilience and provides a vital framework for AI integration, offering organizations a pathway to sustained competitive advantage and better adaptability.

Abstract

Background. The Indonesian Navy faces significant challenges in securing its vast maritime territory, requiring the integration of modern underwater technologies. While naval warfare increasingly relies on advanced systems, infrastructure limitations currently hinder the shift toward a cohesive, system-oriented undersea defense framework. Purpose. This study explores how underwater technology development can transform the Indonesian Navy’s strategic capabilities. It evaluates the potential of various assets to enhance operational effectiveness and aims to provide a modernization roadmap for the nation's maritime defense. Method. Using a mixed-methods design, the research combines quantitative surveys and qualitative case studies. This approach assesses the technical performance and organizational readiness of specific assets, including submarines, sonar systems, and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). Results. Findings show that while submarines and sonar are well-integrated, UUVs face major operational hurdles due to technical gaps and poor system synergy. This suggests that technological innovation must be supported by a unified framework and specialized personnel training. Conclusion. Successful transformation depends on overcoming integration challenges and effectively deploying UUVs alongside traditional assets. The research recommends a balanced focus on both technological advancement and human resource development to ensure a secure and unified maritime future.

Abstract

Background. Digital transformation in public services has become a critical component in improving government service delivery. One of the most significant innovations in this area is the implementation of Single Window Service (SWS) policies, which aim to streamline public service access by offering citizens a single point of contact for multiple government services. Despite the widespread adoption of SWS policies, their effectiveness varies across different regions, largely due to differences in technological infrastructure, governance structures, and regional support for digital initiatives. Purpose. This study seeks to provide a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of SWS policies in various regional governments, examining the factors that influence their success and identifying the key outcomes of these policies. Method. A mixed-methods approach is employed, combining qualitative interviews with government officials, surveys of citizens, and quantitative performance data to assess service efficiency, citizen satisfaction, and administrative burden reduction. Results. The results show that regions with stronger digital infrastructure and better organizational readiness exhibit higher levels of SWS success, while those with limited resources struggle to achieve similar outcomes Conclusion. The study concludes that the effectiveness of SWS policies is contingent not only on technological infrastructure but also on governance and organizational factors, providing valuable insights for improving digital public service delivery.

Abstract

Background. The rise of heterogeneous IoT devices has increased security risks, but traditional intrusion detection systems struggle with the diversity and limited resources of these devices. Purpose. This research investigates Federated Learning (FL) to develop a decentralized, adaptive IDS that enables collaborative threat detection while ensuring data privacy and low computational load. Method. An FL model was implemented in a simulated IoT network featuring sensors and industrial controllers, then tested against DoS and data injection attacks using accuracy and resource metrics. Results. The FL-based IDS reached a detection accuracy of 95.3% with minimal resource consumption, proving its efficiency for resource-constrained IoT environments. Conclusion. Federated Learning provides a scalable and proactive solution for IoT security, offering a robust framework for privacy-preserving and efficient intrusion detection.
