Abstract

Sidoarjo is a district with the most number of small and medium businesses in Indonesia, there reach 171,264 business units. The details, micro-business 154,891 units, small and medium businesses 154 units, and large businesses 16,000 units. One of the industrial centers in the city of Sidoarjo is the Tanggulangin leather craft industry. Most of the people of Kedensari village have the expertise and skills to create a product that can be marketed and has a high selling value. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the entrepreneurial self-efficacy towards the entrepreneurial intentions of the Kedensari village community, Tanggulangin sub-district, Sidoarjo. This research is causality research with a quantitative approach. The sample collection technique uses 100 samples saturated with the number of respondents in a citizen of Kedensari. The research method is using a simple linear regression with the use of the SPSS 23 program for windows. Whereas, hypothesis testing using t-test showed that self-efficacy partially has a significant influence on interest entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the top 4 world footwear producers. On the other hand, there are many well-known foreign brand shoes in Indonesia. Ventela is one of a famous shoes local brand in Indonesia. The local consumers have preferences concerning the shoe producer country of origin. Local people prefer to buy local brand shoes if they have an ethnocentric taste and good perceptions about the local brand. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of consumer ethnocentrism, perceived quality, perceived price, and perceived brand image toward a willingness to buy Ventela shoes. The survey was conducted using an online questionnaire and collected data from 205 young generations. Multiple linear regression in SPSS software was used to analyze the collected data. This study shows that consumer ethnocentrism, perceived quality, and perceived price significantly affected willingness to buy. Meanwhile, the perceived brand image had no significant effect on willingness to buy. Further research is suggested to compare several local fashion brands with different positioning. The results of this study can be used as input for Ventela shoes in facing business competition and business development by paying attention to the variables used.

Abstract

Financial performance evaluates how successful the company has achieved business activities. The purpose of this research is to analyze if financial performance (ROA) affected by firm size, investment opportunity set (IOS), dividend (DPR), audit committee, and capital structure (DAR). Also the mediation effect of capital structure in the audit committee to financial performance. Population in this research  is 56 property sector companies on BEI (www.idx.co.id). The sample in this research is 28 property companies (period 2014-2018) chosen by purposive sampling. This study uses a type of conclusive causal. The data analysis technique used path analysis with IBM SPSS 20. The results show that IOS has a significant effect on financial performance. Firm size, dividend & capital structure has a significant negative effect on financial performance. The audit committee does not significant to financial performance and capital structure (DAR). And also capital structure (DAR) does not mediate the audit committee to financial performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between work-life balance and employee performance through an organizational commitment to the employees of PT. Bhinneka Life Indonesia Surabaya branch. This type of research is quantitative research. The study used a saturated sample technique with a total of 50 permanent employees at PT. Bhinneka Life Indonesia Surabaya branch. From the results of statistical analysis, this study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) and is assisted with smartPLS 3.0 software. This research shows the results of work-life balance has no relationship with employee performance. Work-life balance has a positive effect on commitment. While commitment has a relationship with performance. And the commitment variables can mediate the effect between work-life balance on employee performance. This study shows the results of work-life balance have a smaller direct relationship than an indirect effect on the performance of employee. The implications are based on results of research applied to companies that superiors can provide training to employees on the importance of managing the time between life at work and life outside of work such as life at home. Also, the employees can pay attention to their comfort while working or in receiving bonuses when the targets set by the company have been achieved. Supervisors can also provide other training to the employees to improve the quality of their work.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and explain the effects of employee empowerment, teamwork and training on job satisfaction at Human Resource Management and Marketing & Customer Services of PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya with a sample size of 60 respondents to employees at Human Resource Management and Marketing & Customer Services of PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya. The statistical analysis used in this study was SPSS. The results of this study indicate that employee empowerment does not affect job satisfaction, teamwork does not affect job satisfaction and training has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to test and analyze the role of Job satisfaction as an intervening variable between self-efficacy and employee performance. Research object at PT. Ultrajaya Milk Industry, Tbk Surabaya area, is the marketing department. Several factors that can improve employee performance are the employees' sense of security and comfort in the work environment. This research is using a quantitative approach. The population in this study are 56 employees at PT. Ultrajaya Milk Industry, Tbk in Surabaya Area. The data analysis technique used Structural Equation Model Partial Least Square with software SmartPLS version 3.0. The technique of collecting data using questionnaires and interviews. The result showed that self-efficacy has no significant effect on employee performance. Self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Job satisfaction as an intervening variable affects the relationship between self-efficacy and employee performance at PT. Ultrajaya Milk Industry, Tbk in Surabaya Area, is the marketing department. This study implies that if the company wants to improve employee performance, then employee job satisfaction must be realized, maintain a comfortable work environment, and provide motivation to training to maximize and increase self-efficacy.

Abstract

Tour & Travel Agent is an old type of business that can still maintain its potential as a business opportunity every year. This is due to the use of the internet, thus presenting the online travel market. One of the travel agency businesses that use the internet, especially social media, as a marketing medium to build a company brand image is MyPangandaran. However, the growth of followers on the @mypangandarantours Instagram account is relatively slow, and the level of follower engagement is still low. This study aims to find out how MyPangandaran grows a positive brand image for followers of their Instagram account, @mypangandarantours. In addition, to see the influence that social media has had on followers of brand images on their Instagram accounts. The method used in this research is quantitative with the type of associative survey research. The data technique uses analysis from observations, literature studies, interviews and questionnaires. The sample in this study was 96 followers of the @mypangandarantours Instagram account. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling, namely purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used simple linear regression analysis. This study indicates a significant influence of social media on the brand image of followers of the @mypangandarantours Instagram account, meaning that if the social media marketing variable is getting better, the brand image will be getting better.

Abstract

On March 2nd 2020, the first case of Covid-19 was found in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to analyze the reaction of the Indonesian capital market to the first case of Covid-19 using average abnormal return (AAR), cumulative abnormal return (CAR), and trading volume activity (TVA) before and after the event. The observation began seven days before and seven days after that event. The population of this research uses the data of mining sector companies listed in February and March 2020 on the BEI. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a total of 41 mining companies. This study uses quantitative research and the comparative method—the research testing by Wilcoxon Signes Rank Test. The result showed no differences in AAR, CAR, and TVA of mining sectors between before and after the announcement of the first cases of Covid-19. Investors are expected to be more careful in making investment decisions because this pandemic has occurred for a long time and around the world.

Abstract

This research aims to examine and analyze the impact of a work conflict and work motivation on employee performance. The research method is quantitative research. The sample in this study is 40 employees. The statistical analysis used in this study is the validity and reliability test, classical assumption test, and multiple linear tests. Data processing using SPSS software version 18. This study shows that work conflict has a negative and insignificant effect on employee performance and work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. This study implies that work conflicts that occur in employees in the company do not make the level of performance decrease; besides, the company has succeeded in implementing work motivation because the higher the motivation of employees, the higher the performance for the company.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of job stress and job satisfaction on the psychological well-being of postgraduate employees at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This research method uses quantitative research, with the method used in sampling is saturated sampling. The population used is 41 employees. The analysis of this study using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis by IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0 software. This study concluded that job stress has a negative and meaningful effect on psychological well-being because the burden of many tasks results in stress that causes psychological well-being to decrease. For job satisfaction has a positive and meaningful effect on psychological well-being, the lack of employees results in dissatisfaction when doing work that affects psychological well-being. Meanwhile, the meaningful effect of job stress and job satisfaction on psychological well-being occurs because the simultaneous significance test (f test) are overall Ho is accepted. Institutions must pay attention to work stress experienced by their employees so that the psychological well-being of employees can be well maintained and will have a good impact on employee job satisfaction.
