INFORMASI is an academic journal that centered in communication, is open and welcoming to contributions from the many disciplines and approaches that meet at the crossroads that is communication study. We are interested in scholarship that crosses disciplinary lines and speaks to readers from a range of theoretical and methodological perspectives. In other words, INFORMASI will be a forum for scholars when they address the wider audiences of our many sub-fields and specialties, rather than the location for the narrower conversations more appropriately conducted within more specialized journals. INFORMASI published twice a year (June and December) in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

Abstract

Positive communication plays an important role in building a harmonious family. The objectives of this research were to: 1) Identify the characteristics of Mother School participants in 3 urban villages in Bogor; 2) Classifying family communication patterns of participants in Mother Schools based on low, moderate, and high categories; and 3) Analyze the benefits of Mother School program. The study was conducted with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The respondents were 84 people from the villages of Ciluar, Ciparigi, and Kedung Halang. Quantitative data were processed descriptively and analyzed using the Anova one way test. The qualitative data were obtained from the writing of participants in Ciluar village as many as 30 people, and then analyzed to find out the benefits of Mother School program. The results showed that the majority (84.62%) of respondents stated strongly agree that family togetherness is everything and 71.79 percent felt very close to their husband and children. By region, the participants of Mother School in Ciparigi village whose family communication was in high category had the highest percentage (60.71%). Maternal education level is considered to be a key factor in family communication in Ciparigi Mother School participants, better than 2 other villages. Qualitative analysis showed that participants feel the benefits of Mother School which can increase knowledge and understanding of how to care their children and build a harmonious family. This research is expected to be input for the Government of Bogor to further improve the quality of family resources.Komunikasi yang positif berperan penting dalam membangun keluarga harmonis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Mengidentifikasi karakteristik peserta Sekolah Ibu di 3 kelurahan Kota Bogor; 2) Mengelompokkan pola komunikasi keluarga peserta Sekolah Ibu berdasarkan kategori rendah, sedang, dan tinggi; dan 3) Menganalisis manfaat program Sekolah Ibu. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Responden yang disurvei berjumlah 84 orang berasal dari kelurahan Ciluar, Ciparigi, dan Kedung Halang. Data kuantitatif diolah secara deskriptif dan dianalisis dengan uji one way Anova. Adapun data kualitatif diperoleh dari tulisan peserta di kelurahan Ciluar sebanyak 30 orang, kemudian dianalisis untuk mengetahui manfaat program Sekolah Ibu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, sebagian besar (84,62%) responden menyatakan sangat setuju bahwa kebersamaan keluarga adalah segalanya dan 71,79 persen merasa sangat dekat dengan suami dan anak-anaknya. Berdasarkan wilayah, peserta Sekolah Ibu di kelurahan Ciparigi yang komunikasi keluarganya masuk kategori tinggi memiliki persentase terbanyak (60,71%). Tingkat pendidikan ibu diduga merupakan faktor utama komunikasi keluarga peserta Sekolah Ibu di Ciparigi lebih baik dibandingkan 2 kelurahan lain. Analisis kualitatif memperlihatkan, peserta merasakan manfaat Sekolah Ibu yang dapat menambah pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang cara mengasuh anak dan membangun keluarga harmonis. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi masukan bagi Pemerintah Kota Bogor untuk lebih meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya keluarga.

Abstract

AbstractIn this life, human need to interact with other people for accomplishing social needs. Without communication, human, can't interact. Santri (student at traditional Muslim School) also need to have interaction with others. Santri is designation for a person who lives in Islamic Boarding House and study about religiousness. This research tries to explain about santri's stigma and symbols use by santri. From this research, it can be inferred that: there are 2 Stigmas that attached in santri, they are physical stigma (it's about santri's attributes and clothes) and positive social stigma; There are numbers of symbols dealing with verbal and nonverbal communication use by santri with their team; Not all of social stigma that attached to santri's role is applied well by santri themselves. Moreover there is some santri that their manner is far from Islamic education.AbstrakDalam hidup, manusia membutuhkan interaksi terhadap orang lain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sosialnya. Tanpa komunikasi, manusia tidak dapat berinteraksi.Begitu juga dengan santri.Santri adalah sebutan bagi orang yang tinggal di pondok pesantren dan mengkaji ilmu agamaPenelitian ini juga mencoba menjelaskan mengenai stigma santri dan penggunaan simbol oleh santri. Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: stigma yang menempel pada diri santri ada dua, yaitu stigma fisik (menyangkut pakaian dan atribut santri) dan stigma sosial yang positif; Terdapat sejumlah simbol menyangkut komunikasi verbal dan nonverbal yang digunakan oleh para santri dengan penggunaan tim mereka; Tidak semua stigma sosial yang menempel pada peran santri, dijalankan dengan baik oleh para santri. Abstract

Nowadays football is not merely sport. It has become industry, even popular culture. This happen because on the same time mass media grows into mass culture industry. The union of football and mass media as industry has melted few social and culture boundaries. Socially"”through mass media"”football had joined many social background into football fans identity, and it even connect all over the world. Football had transformed into popular culture that always moves in instability that drain its fans's emotion. The football fans emotion in turn polarised into fans club which was created based on imaginary bound. Fans is the most visible part from text society and pop culture practice that could become fanatic. This fans fanatism phenomena could happen because the fans are pasif and patologic victim of mass media. This phenomena also mark the indication of transition from agricultural society into industrial and urban society.

Abstract

One of the main elements in a modern democratic politics is widespread political advertisement. In the 2009 election in Indonesia, one of the main partner, namely Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto also do advertising, especially on television. This is done to boost the popularity and elektabilitasnya to win the election. And in these ads are myths and hyperreality. This study was conducted to uncover the myths and hyperreality that exist in the ad with the title "humble" and "mampu" belonging to the couple. The method used is semiotic theories of Roland Barthes. with a two-stage approach popularized by Roland Barthes, connotations and meanings denotation, meaning the disclosure of the symbols in advertising will be more striking. From the analysis found that the phrase statesman and populist become the focus of myths and hyperreality conducted by Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto in its advertising.Salah satu elemen politik dalam demokrasi modern adalah merebaknya iklan politik. Dalam pemilu 2009 di Indonesia salah satu pasangan yaitu Jusuf Kalla dan Wiranto juga melakukan iklan khususnya di televisi. Hal ini dilakukan untuk mendongkrak popularitas dan elektabilitasnya demi memenangkan pemilu. Di dalam iklan tersebut terdapat mitos dan hiperrealitas. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengungkap mitos dan hiperrealitas yang ada dalam iklan dengan judul "humble" dan "mampu" milik pasangan tersebut. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah teori semiotika Roland Barthes. dengan pendekatan dua tahap yang dipopulerkan oleh Roland Barthes, makna konotasi dan makna denotasi, pengungkapan makna simbol-simbol dalam iklan akan semakin mencolok. Dari analisis didapat bahwa frase negarawan dan merakyat menjadi fokus mitos dan hiperrealitas yang dilakukan oleh Jusuf Kalla dan Wiranto dalam iklannya.

Abstract

Emergence of apps-based modes of transportation marks a technological advancement, and is a reaction to the flaw of public transportation services. This article argues that technology allows the society to overcome the problems of uncertainty lying under the system of public transportation in Jakarta. This study shows that the apps used by "online ojeks" Go-Jek is capable to minimize the risks concerning time, convenience, cost, and security. This idea diverges from previous studies that failed to mention the variable of certainty as a strategy to minimize the risks commonly found in urban transportation system. Qualitative methods are used for data collection.Moda transportasi berbasis aplikasi muncul sebagai wujud dari perkembangan teknologi dan reaksi atas kelemahan penyedia jasa transportasi publik. Artikel ini berargumen bahwa teknologi telah menyediakan kemungkinan bagi masyarakat sipil yang tidak memiliki kuasa akan manajemen pelayanan publik untuk mengatasi masalah kepastian sebagai upaya mengatasi risiko pada transportasi publik di Jakarta. Studi ini memperlihatkan bahwa aplikasi yang digunakan "ojek online" Go-Jek mampu meminimalisir risiko yang terjadi di Jakarta dalam hal waktu, kemudahan, biaya, dan keamanan. Hal ini berbeda dengan studi sebelumnya yang tidak menyebutkan secara spesifik faktor-faktor kepastian sebagai sebuah strategi untuk mengurangi risiko yang terjadi pada moda transportasi di perkotaan. Pengumpulan data dalam studi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to clarify the role of online organization media, change.org, as a form of support for protesting that claimed virtual collective. Previous researchexplains that the online media has been used for political campaigns, as well as a tool toexpress ideas openly, but still organized online and offline elementary. Specifically, thisresearch wanted to show that change.org can be a tool for protest to claim a collectivecomplaint based virtual form in the form of an online petition. Such cases tend to behigher in urban communities because it is relatively more active in terms of Internetusage so that the use of media such as online petitions can be a tool to pass up a protestwhich will be expressed as a collective complaint. Online media is considered to be anappropriate tool in collecting petition claims because everyone will be able to access theInternet as well as determine the attitude to an event that occurred. By using qualitativeresearch methods, this research interview the informant involved in the manufacturer'sonline petition change.org online petition and the petitioners online. ConclusionChange.org is a vital tool for spreading ideas and at the same time being an identity formovement.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peran media online change.org sebagai bentukpengorganisasian dukungan gunamelakukan protes yang terklaim kolektif secara virtual.Penelitian sebelumnya menjelaskan bahwa media telah digunakan untuk alat kampanyepolitik serta untuk menyampaikan gagasan secara terbuka, namun masih terorganisasisecara online dan ofline yang elementer. Secara khusus, penelitian ini ingin menunjukkanbahwa change.org dapat menjadi alat untuk melakukan protes yang dapat menjadi kekuatanuntuk mengklaim suatu keluhan secara kolektif berbasis virtual berupa petisi dalam bentukonline. Kasus semacam ini cenderung tinggi di masyarakat perkotaan karena relatif lebihaktif dalam hal penggunaan internet sehingga penggunaan media berupa petisi secara onlinedapat menjadi alat untuk melalukan protes yang akan bisa dinyatakan sebagai keluhankolektif. Media online dianggap dapat menjadi alat yang tepat dalam mengumpulkanklaim petisi sebab semua orang akan dapat mengakses internet sekaligus menentukansikap terhadap suatu peristiwa yang terjadi. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitiankualitiatif, penelitian ini mewawancarai informan yang terlibat dalam petisi online change.org yakni pembuat petisi online dan penandatangan petisi online.KesimpulannyaChange.org merupakanalat vital untuk menyebarkan ide dan sekaligus menjadi identitas gunamelakukan gerakan.

Abstract

In an organization, decision making is anessential factor to achieve its goals. The decision-making process is a process of selecting the best alternative from many alternatives that systematically chosen as a way to resolve the problem. The decision is seen as a "choice between the alternatives" as well as a form of communication that fulfills the social expectations of the organization's members. So the goal setting, onflow of information as well as individual's values within the group affect the decisions made by the group itself. Then, the leadership-participation style in decision-making is the most important factor for creating the mutual understanding between both parties related to the decision.Dalam sebuah organisasi, pengambilan keputusan merupakan faktor penting untuk mencapai tujuannya. Proses pengambilan keputusan adalah proses pemilihan alternatif terbaik dari berbagai alternatif yang secara sistematis dipilih sebagai cara untuk menyelesaikan masalah. Keputusan ini dipandang sebagai "pilihan antara alternatif" serta bentuk komunikasi yang memenuhi harapan sosial dari anggota organisasi. Jadi penetapan tujuan, aliran informasi serta nilai-nilai individu dalam kelompok mempengaruhi keputusan yang dibuat oleh kelompok itu sendiri. Kemudiangaya kepemimpinan-partisipasi dalam pengambilan keputusan adalah faktor yang paling penting untuk menciptakan saling pengertian antara kedua belah pihak yang terkait dengan keputusan tersebut.

Abstract

Today, one may no longer alive but his social networking sites (SNS) account will still live on. Empirical studies on death and SNS started since 2004 covering issues on grief, bereavement, mourning, relational continuity functions of SNS, and digital legacy. Majority of them applied content and discourse analyses on SNS messages directed to or related to the deceased. Applying McLuhan’s aphorism medium is the message, researcher focused on the interplay among forms and functions of Facebook (FB) as a medium and message that mediates grief and the bereaved persons who are communicators that decided to grieve on FB. This research adopts grounded theory approach where in- depth interviews with 10 bereaved persons who maintain relational continuity with their deceased loved ones through FB were conducted. The conclusions are drawn to prove that bereaved users preferred to engage in a transcoporeal mediated communication with deceased for continuing bonds due to four main reasons – the deceased are perceived “dead but they are not”; maintaining relational continuity via FB is essential to “finish their unfinished business”; they felt aided and embraced when adopting “FB the Public Platform for Private Grief”, and they imagined a mutual communication based on “past experience and religious belief”. The mediated transcopereal communication (TcC) is enabled because the social medium (FB) is the message.
