Abstract

Abstract: This study used descriptive research and pre-experimental design. The first one was used to identify student misconception in the mass balance topic at macroscopic, sub-microscopic and symbolic levels. The second design aims to correct the misconceptions discovered by using the POE strategy. After three weeks the delayed test was done to find out the concept improvement using POE strategy. This design was also used to determine the effectiveness of POE strategies to achieve the aims. The results showed misconception on mass balance material with an average of 32.97%. The average POE effectiveness of 76.02% with high effectiveness criteria and retention of understanding with POE strategy after 2 weeks on average was 91.27% with very good criteria.Key Words: misconception, mass balance, POE, industrial chemistry, two-tier testAbstrak: Penelitian deskriptif dan pra eksperimen bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa dalam neraca massa pada tingkat makroskopik, sub-mikroskopik dan simbolik. Sedangkan rancangan pra eksperimental bertujuan untuk memperbaiki miskonsepsi yang ditemukan dengan menggunakan strategi POE. Rancangan pra-eksperimental juga digunakan untuk mengetahui keefektifan strategi POE dalam memperbaiki miskonsepsi siswa pada materi neraca massa. Setelah tiga minggu dilakukan delayed test untuk mengetahui perbaikan konsep dengan strategi POE. Rancangan pra-eksperimental (pre-experimental) yang digunakan adalah modifikasi model one group pretest-posttest design dengan satu macam perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi miskonsepsi pada materi neraca massa dengan rata-rata 32.97%. Selain itu didapatkan efektifitas POE rata-rata 76.02% dengan kriteria efektivitas tinggi dan retensi hasil remidi dengan strategi POE setelah 2 minggu rata-rata adalah 91.27% dengan kriteria sangat baik.Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, neraca massa, POE, kimia industri, test two tier

Abstract

Abstract: Speed reading method helps students to learn effectively, efficiently, and independently in understanding a reading. This study aims to improve the reading speed and understanding of students’ biology concepts by applying speed reading method. This research was conducted in SMA Bina Bangsa Surabaya in Odd Semester of Academic Year 2015-2016. This research is qualitative research which was done by employing reading speed test and comprehension test of biology concept. The subject of this research was 41 students of X-MIA class in SMA Bina Bangsa Surabaya. The data were analyzed by employing descriptive qualitative. The results showed an increase in average reading speed of 481 wpm, with an average understanding of the concept of 73%.Key Words: speed reading, biology conceptual understanding, reading speedAbstrak: Metode speed reading membantu siswa untuk belajar secara efektif, efisien, dan mandiri dalam memahami suatu bacaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecepatan membaca dan pemahaman konsep biologi siswa dengan menerapkan metode speed reading. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Bina Bangsa Surabaya pada semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2015-2016. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang dilakukan dengan uji kecepatan membaca dan uji pemahaman konsep biologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 41 siswa kelas X-MIA SMA Bina Bangsa Surabaya. Data tersebut dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan rata-rata kecepatan membaca 481 kpm, dengan rata-rata pemahaman konsep 73%.Kata kunci: speed reading, pemahaman konsep biologi, kecepatan membaca

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of the study is to determine the differences in motivation and cognitive achievement between groups of students that learned with Problem Posing-WhatsApp model with group of students that learned with the Problem Posing only in Stoichiometry material. The research design used a quasi-experimental design without pre-test. Experiment class learned with Problem Posing by using WhatsApp learning model while the control class learned with Problem Posing learning model. Instruments measuring cognitive learning outcomes in the form of objective tests are 25 questions and motivation questionnaire with total 34 statements. The results showed that there are differences in motivation and cognitive achievement among students that learned with Problem Posing-WhatsApp learning model with group of students with Problem Posing model. Students that learned with Problem Posing by using WhatsApp learning model has an average of 79.67 and a motivation for cognitive achievement of 79.25, while the group of students that learned with Problem Posing learning model has an average of 73.89 and motivation for learning outcomes cognitive at 71.74.Key Words: problem posing learning model, WhatsApp, motivation, cognitive learning outcomes, stoichiometryAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan motivasi dan hasil belajar kognitif antara kelompok siswa yang dibelajarkan model Problem Posing-WhatsApp dengan yang dibelajarkan model Problem Posing pada materi stoikiometri. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan rancangan eksperimental semu tanpa pre tes. Instrumen pengukuran hasil belajar kognitif berupa tes objektif berjumlah 25 soal dan angket motivasi berjumlah 34 pernyataan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada perbedaan  motivasi dan hasil belajar kognitif antara kedua kelas. Siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model Problem Posing -WhatsApp memiliki rata-rata motivasi sebesar 79,67 dan hasil belajar kognitif sebesar 79,25, sedangkan kelompok siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model Problem Posing memiliki rata-rata motivasi sebesar 73,89 dan hasil belajar kognitif sebesar 71,74. Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to investigate the students’ improvement through POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) learning model. It is a classroom action reesarch. The research was taken under two cycles of four steps (planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting). The data was collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The result of the research shows that there is a significant improvement upon the students’ science processing skill through POGIL learning model. Key Words: students’ science processing skill, Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning, POGILAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan siswa melalui pembelajaran POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak 2 siklus dari 4 langkah (perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi). Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner. Abstract

Abstract: One of the newest and most well-known training patterns for developing students career in terms of skills and knowledge is Dual Education System. This gives an opportunity for the student to attend for the real practical work in the real environment where learning is the real task and activities which equip students with the required skills and knowledge. These tasks and activities are really done in industrial work practices areas where they provide the knowledge appropriate on the student’s field of expertise. One the industrial practices areas are Universities. A survey was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of eight aspects which include: the implementations of the industrial practices (Prakerin). Based on school and students preparation, the resemblance of material provided theoretically and practically, supervision and monitoring students activities, facilities in the industrial practices area, students creativity and initiative, cooperation, students’ discipline and attendance, students achievement and lastly student’s readiness on doing industrial practices (Prakerin).The survey results show that there is the effectiveness of dual education system program on vocational students’ industry practices (Prakerin) in Universities.Key Words: dual education system, industrial practices area/placeAbstrak: Salah satu pola pelatihan terbaru dan paling terkenal untuk mengembangkan karir siswa dalam hal keterampilan dan pengetahuan adalah Pendidikan Sistem Ganda. Hal ini memberi kesempatan bagi siswa untuk berada dalam kerja praktek nyata di lingkungan yang sebenarnya dimana pembelajaran adalah tugas dan aktivitas nyata yang membekali siswa dengan keterampilan dan pengetahuan yang dibutuhkan. Tugas-tugas dan kegiatan tersebut dilakukan di praktek kerja industri di mana mereka memberikan pengetahuan yang tepat di bidang keahlian siswa. Salah satu tempat praktik industrinya adalah Universitas. Sebuah survei dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari delapan aspek yang meliputi: implementasi praktik industri (Prakerin). Berdasarkan persiapan sekolah dan siswa, kemiripan materi yang diberikan secara teoritis dan praktis, pengawasan dan monitoring kegiatan sis-wa, fasilitas pada tempat praktek industri, kreatifitas dan inisiatif siswa, kerjasama, disiplin dan kehadiran siswa, serta prestasi siswa dan yang terakhir adalah kesiapan siswa dalam melaksanakan praktek industri (Prakerin). Hasil survei dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada keefektifan program pendidikan sistem ganda pada praktik industri siswa SMK (Prakerin) di Perguruan Tinggi.Kata kunci: pendidikan sistem ganda, praktik kerja industri
