Abstract

Banana is fruit containing fairly high nutrition and provides quick reserve energy. The crop grows in tropical area with average rainfall all the year and banana produces at any season. One of the bananas which has high value sale and high competable potency is subvariety of kepok banana. Kepok banana has various subvarieties, these subvarieties have the same morphologies but have different texture appearances thus uneasy to differenciate among them. The texture appearance determines the quality and price of the banana. Often the buyer makes a mistake in choosing subvariety of kepok he wants to, whereas the seller gives him the cheapest subvariety of kepok. Methods we used was method of exploration using free exploration technique step by step without any certain path. There were two phases in the research namely the first phase was carried out in field and the second phase was done in the laboratory. Subvarieties of kepok found in Lumajang Regency are 4 subcultivars, Malang Regency there are 3 and Magelang Regency are subcultivars subcultivars, The sequence of the quality of kapok subcultivars are as follows, red kepok, yellow kepok, big (gede, gilo, gembrot) kepok, and white kepok. Sugestion, organic ferlitilizer should be used in the fertilization of banana cultivation, and conservation of red kepok is highly required.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of information technology encourages innovation in the world of education, including in the development of electronic-based learning resources. However, developing electronic encyclopedias based on the diversity of fauna in Indonesia still needs improvement. This research aims to develop an electronic encyclopedia about bird diversity as a source of learning biology. According to the Lee and Owens developing model, this research uses five steps of the developing process. In the final step, the evaluation involved 37 Biology Education Department students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang with a pretest-posttest group design. Data collection uses validation sheets, pretest-posttest questions, and questionnaires. Pretest and posttest data were analyzed using a gain score to measure its effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. The effectiveness test results for each indicator item show that the average score for all aspects shows a percentage of 94.7% (very practical). Furthermore, the gain score is 0.47, which indicates that the encyclopedia is feasible, valid, and effective in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Digital inequality and the pandemic have exacerbated the learning crisis, caused some learning loss, also fostered students’ individualistic attitude, which resulted in poor collaboration skills. Furthermore, the models and approaches in the teaching material activities have not reflected the stages that encouraged the practice to enhance collaboration skills. Meanwhile, collaboration skills can be trained and developed by selecting the right teaching materials that are integrated with appropriate learning models. The development of PjBL-STEAM-based E-Module is believed to be able to improve students' collaboration skills. This study used a quasi-experimental design with basic random sampling. There were two study groups: the experimental and the control groups. The instruments used in this study were a self-assessment questionnaire measuring students’ collaboration skills and teachers’ observation sheets that aligned with the collaboration skill indicators. ANCOVA test was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that the E-Module has no significant effect on students' collaboration skills (α=0,213), while the covariates indicated some factors that significantly affect the improvement of students’ collaboration skills (α=0,004). The validation results of the PjBL-STEAM-based E-Module suggested that it is highly valuable to implement in the teaching and learning process.
