Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe information about educatioanl quality of Primary Schools (SD) supported or developed by the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP) in Indonesia. The study was held in 90 Primary Schools from 6 Provinces. Data were collected by an educational quality assesment instrument and analysed statistically in central tendency (mean) measures. It was found that educational quality of Primary Schools developed by the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP) fell into good category, especially in those aspects as school leardership, school environment, school finace, learning-teaching process, school organization, and personnel attendance

Abstract

Remoteness of programme content from teachers' real work situation and unsuitability of approach employed were suspected as main reasons contributing to the failure of many inservise teacher training programmes. A step by step, onsite teacher training (SSOTT) model was tried out in this experiment to study if the weakness of inservise programmes could be rectified. As it was tried out in relation with kindergarten mathemathics it was then called SSOTT-MTW (Step by Step Onsite Teacher Training-Methemathics Their Way) model. Eighty four kindergartens were involved, in which 84 teachers and 877 pupils were recruited as experimental subjects. The teachers were devided into three group. One group was instructed by using One Period Teacher Training (OPOTT-MTW) model, second group was trained with SSOTT-MTW model and the last group was given no training (NTT) at all. Result of the experiment showed that the other groups. It was also shown that pupil and parents participation in teaching-learning activities also significantly improved.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menemukan metode pengambangan afeksi di SD. Instrumen penelitian adalah observasi, wawancara, dan kajian dokumentasi. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode pengembangan afeksi belajar di SD menyatu dengan proses belajar-mengajar sehari-hari, yang mengandung faktor-faktor: guru menghormati martabat anak-anak, banyak belajar secara kelompok, orangtua ikut membantu anak-anak, manajemen kelas mengutamakan pengembangan afeksi, dan penilaian bersifat individual. Makna belajar adalah pengembangan sikap suka belajar, tahu cara belajar, percaya diri, dan puas akan keberhasilan yang dicapai

Abstract

Masyarakat industri yang segera dihadapi oleh bangsa Indonesia memerlukan pendidikan sebagai alat transformasi. Pendidikan perlu ditingkatkan mutunya. Untuk itu, diperlukan strategi yang tepat. Strategi peningkatan mutu pendidikan yang dapat dijadikan alternatif antara lain adalah penguatan dan pemberdayaan lembaga pendidikan, pembenahan kurikulum dan GBPP, peningkatan kualifikasi dan kualitas tenaga kependidikan, pengubahan mental masyarakat ke arah masyarakat industri, serta pengimplementasian berbagai kebijakan dan aturan secara konsisten dan tidak berstandar ganda.

Abstract

The 1994 Curriculum makes it posible for calssroom teachers to be curriculum developers. The question is whether every teacher can develop hypothesis into research project to solve classroom problems. Classroom research is an alternative that teachers may need to be able to make professional judgement in their own classrooms. Classroom research is an activity that teachers can carry out to improve their own teaching as well as their colleagues', and to verify educational theories and assumptions relevant to classroom practices. Abstract

This research was designed to describe the learning-teaching in processes in Stenography as implemented by the Vocational Secondary Schools of Business and Management (SMK Bisnis dan Manajemen). The sample consisted of 14 teachers of Stenography taken purpossively from state and private SMK in Malang. Data were gathered by using an interview guide and observations, and analysed descriptively in persentage measures. It was concluded that in general the components of learning-teaching process in Stenography was good enough. Most pf Stenography teachers have had academic and professional qualification, applied adequate methods of teaching, selected assessment strategies properly, and involved all aspects of Stenography in evaluation processes.

Abstract

This study was an effort to introduce mainstreaming in which regular schools were prepared to educate handicapped children. The study was conducted in 5 villages in Mojosongo, Boyolali. There were 19 primary schools with 4 special education teachers as itinerant teachers. It was found out that training in special education improved knowledge in special education and ability to identify handicapped children. A number of 202 handicapped children were identified (7.9% of the population). A number of 194 children received special education services in their regular classrooms. Of the 194 students, 110 of this promotion did not affect school ranks and repetition rates. Most teachers agreed that the gifted, slow learner and learning disabled remain in the regular school with special servives by special educalion teachers.

Abstract

The study aims at exploring the characteristics of implementation of dual system of education (DSE) at School of Craft Industry Jepara and trying to find the constraints faced by the school and the counterpart institutions. The key persons were administrators and instructors of six small and medium scale industries. An in-depth interview, observation and documentation were used to collect data. Domain analysis was employed to analyze the data. Triangulation was intended to obtain validity of the data. The findings indicate that the DSE is implemented as a field work 'plus', the majority of industries involved are of small scale, the school council does not effectively mediate the school and the industries, the DSE does not result in the expected added values yet, and there are many constraints faced by the school and the industries in implementing the program

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the role of the mothers in implementing family education for their children. This research was held in an urban district and a rural district in Surabaya. Data were collected from 118 mothers in urban families and 148 mothers in rural families by observations and interviews, and then analysed qualitatively. It was concluded that most mothers in the city have had understanding about education, the significance of education, and the type of education. Educational facilities and methods they applied were good enough, but only 41% of them have gotten formal information on education. They communicated with the schools only in relation with the academic achievements of their children. The condition of the family education in the rural was lower than in the urban district in all of these aspects

Abstract

The objective of this study was to obtain an empirical evidence concerning the attitudes of teachers of elementary schools in Pekalongan Sub District, East Lampung District toward the implementation of the student active learning (CBSA) approach in teaching-learning activities. The data were collected through questionnaire and observation, and were analyzed by t-test. The results indicated that there were significant differences in attitudes between young teachers and old ones, between teachers with a bachelor's degree and those without the degree, and between teachers with less teaching experience and those with more teaching experience. Additionally, there were no significant differences in teachers' attitudes in terms of sex and training experience.
