Abstract

This study was aimed at knowing the job skill practices (PKL) managed by the Secondary Schools of Technology (STM) in cooperation with PT PAL Indonesia and BLPT Surabaya based on the dual system of education. The population was students of STM Perkapalan, STM Negeri Surabaya and Sidoarjo. Observations, tests, and document analysis were used in gathering data. It was found out that there was a high revevance between practical materials and job skills needed by the STM Students, and their final achievement in the job skill practices (PKL) was relatively good

Abstract

This study is intended to describe teachers' understanding and implementation as well as their thinking of cooperative learning in social studies education. The researcher worked with 15 primary school teachers in Victoria, Australia. Data were collected by using an open ended questionaire, observation of classroom practice and non-structured inverview following the observation. Then, the data were analysed by using content analysis method. The findings suggest that the participants generally understand positive interdependence and social interaction, and group debriefing is important elements of cooperative learning. Teacher do not pay much attention to individual accountability and reward system. Social skills are the important achievement of cooperative learning implementation.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to describe the implementation of learning-teaching activities in Economics and Accounting based on The 1994 Curriculum (Kurikulum 1994). The sample consisted of 12 Senior High Schools (SMUs) in East Kalimantan drawn purposively. Data were collected from students and teachers of Economics and Accounting by using a questionnaire, documentary technique and interviews, and analyzed in percentage measures. It was concluded that the implementation of learning-teaching activities based on The 1994 Curriculum was supposed to be difficult and that there weremany problems faced by students and teachers in the implementation

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research was aimed at describing professional attitudes of religion teachers and to test the influences of Teacher Certification IV Program on professional attitudes of the religion teachers in terms of their differences in teaching experience and their job status. The subjects were 64 religion teachers of SLTP, SMU, and SMK in Irian Jaya. The instruments for gathering data were checklists and attitude scale. Mean, standard deviation, and F-test were applied to analyse the data. The results revealed that teachers' attitudes were positive. Teacher Certification IV Program influenced teachers' attitudes toward their professionalism. There was a significant correlation between teaching experience and teachers' professional attitudes in terms of their job status.

Abstract

This research was aimed at knowing the effectiveness of providing journal writing in supporting the students' skills in writing English essay. The subjects were English department students who took Writing III course in the academic year of 1995/1996. This study involved two intact groups of students. The experimental group was given weekly journal writing, while the control group followed the regular writing. At the end of the treatment, writing tests on free topics were assigned and the students' works were scored using ESL Composition Profile. The result of analysis using t-test indicated that journal writing scores of the students from the two groups were not significantly different. However, students' responses indicated positive evaluation on the application of journal writing

Abstract

This study was designed to describe the graduates of the secondary school of tourism industry (SMIP) and their chance to get a job. The object of this research was SMIP in Surabaya, and the subjects were administrators and graduates of SMIP, managers of tourism industry, and other related institutions. Data were collected by interviews, questionnaire, and documentaries, and analyzed in percentages. The findings of this research showed that: there were two department in SMIP, the department of tourism business and the department of hotel affairs; the relationship between SMIP and the government and private institutions was good enough; most of SMIP graduates have got jobs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi guru IPA tentang urutan masalah global, pengetahuan mereka tentang masalah global, sumber informasi guru IPA tentang masalah global, optimisme guru IPA akan prospek masalah global menjelang tahun 2010, pendapat mereka tentang urgensi masalah global masuk dalam kurikulum, dan pendapat mereka tentang banyaknya materi masalah global yang harus diajarkan. Populasi adalah 350 orang guru IPA SLTP dan SMU dari 100 sekolah di DIY dan Jawa Tengah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif-kuantitatif non-parametrik dan analisis faktor. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa umumnya guru IPA memiliki pandangan pesimis tentang kemungkinan perbaikan masalah-masalah glonal menjelang 2010. Secara kuat dan sadar, guru IPA mendukung implementasi pendidikan IPA yang terkait dengan masalah global dalam kurikulum IPA Sd, SLTP, SMU, dan Perguruan Tinggi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the dual system of education implemented by vocational secondary schools (SMK) and their counterparts, especially in student selection, instructional process, evaluation, and the student's and instructor's readliness. The sample consisted of 68 SMK students from 17 departments of SMK and 34 instructors from 17 industrial institutions in Malang Municipality. Data were collected by administering a questionnaire. The results revealed that there was no selection applied to recruit the SMK students. The delivery system, training materials, evaluation of student's performance, and the student's and instructor's readliness were good enough, but the training facilities were inadequate

Abstract

School system is always associated with man power system. School system is the source of human labors, and business enterprises are its users. Most of secondary schools in Japan develops cooperations with the Department of Man Power and other private corporations in recruiting human labors. School system and business enterprises have responsibilities in the field, and they do their best. In Indonesia, school system is separated from the man power system. Ralatively, there are no cooperations and links develops by school system and private corporations. Indonesian government has to develop multistrategies in managing human labor through school system of education

Abstract

The study aimed at developing an appropriate model to improve quality and develop management system of school guidance and counseling services. The study was divided into three phases conducted for three years in different school levels ranging from primary to higher education, in Java and Sumatra. The extension of the study was also conducted in Kindergarten and Special Education setting. The whole study came up with: the general models which provided a basis for developing frame work of guidance and counseling in every school level; frame work of guidance and counseling for every school level; standardized inventory of students' developmental tasks developed in a computerized system; and learning packages developed based on students' needs and development. Research findings show that the models were feasible and applicable and gave an improvement of quality of school guidance and counseling services and management
