Abstract

The misconception that the SMAN students have concerning physics is very serious which effects the formal reasoning ability of the students and the teaching ability of the teachers. Though lab work has no direct influence on the occurence of misconception, it has a strong effect on the learning process in science of the students. These facts are among others the result of the study conducted on 26 SMAN throughout East Jawa.

Abstract

Many junior secondary dropouts and many junior secondary graduates who do not go to senior secondary school create a lot of young people who are unprepared to join the work force. Yet it is against the reguation to establish junior secondary school. The problem is solved by establishing skill oriented junior secondary school. Though still semi-skilled their graduates could easily join the work force. There are minor legal problem for the establishment of such kind of school, but this problem rests more in legal interpretation rather than their material. Some additional ministerial decress could solve this problem.

Abstract

This experimental study conducted in South Sulawesi aimed at obtaining empirical data concerning the effect of the Gal'perin theory on the achievement of students in chemistry. The technique of stratified random sampling was employed to select the sample among the SMA students of the academic year 1993/1994. The use of students with a level of significance of 0.05 in analyzing the data resulted that the Gal'perin theory was indeed effective as a teaching-learning method in chemistry.

Abstract

Empirical evidence shows that environmental resources are minimally utilized by the social study teachers, at least by the social study teachers at 10 SMPs under study. This fact is indicated by the small number of teachers and the few topics that made use of the environment as social study resources. Even most of the teachers think that the environmental approach as recommended by the 1986 SMP curriculum is still an ideal not to be implemented yet. The sample consists of 32 teachers of 7 public SMPs and 3 private SMPs in Kotamadya Banda Aceh. The instrument employed to collect the needed data is a questionnaire.

Abstract

The teaching of science is in many instances resorting to memorization. It is imperative to alter this kind of teaching of science such that it concerns with comprehension, human existence, and society. Research can enhance the way science is taught to the students while the concept of research in the form of discovery learning could elevate the achievement of the study of science among students.

Abstract

The achievement in the studies of mathematics at the junior and senior secondary schools in Ujung Pandang is quite low. Abstract

The study was intended to find out the perception of technical and vocational teachers of teaching staff, institutions authorised for program content selection and parties responsible for the financing of technical and vocational education (TVE) in the context of Indonesia. The respondents were randomly selected from government technical and vocational schools and consisted of 120 and 100 teachers from West Java and South Sulawesi. The study revealed that: to teach in technical and vocational schools somebody must have teaching and work experience in the same area of teaching; to design the program teachers and industry people must work together; and to finance the operation and maintenance of TVE the government must work with the private sector.

Abstract

This study examines the contribution of economic literacy, e-commerce utilization, and income expectations to the formation of entrepreneurial interest among Generation Z students. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to analyze data collected from 102 Grade XII accounting students through a structured questionnaire. The results indicate that e-commerce has a significant positive effect and serves as the most dominant factor influencing students’ entrepreneurial interest. The accessibility of digital platforms, ease of online transactions, and wider market opportunities encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path. Conversely, economic literacy and income expectations demonstrate significant negative effects on entrepreneurial interest. Higher levels of economic understanding and elevated income expectations tend to make students more cautious and risk-aware, potentially reducing their willingness to pursue entrepreneurial ventures without sufficient practical experience. The model explains 93.1% of the variance in entrepreneurial interest, indicating strong explanatory power. These findings suggest that while digital technology plays a strategic role in fostering entrepreneurial intentions, entrepreneurship education should balance theoretical knowledge with experiential learning and mentoring to cultivate a more adaptive entrepreneurial mindset. Integrating digital business practices and practical entrepreneurial experiences into vocational education may help transform economic literacy and income expectations into supportive rather than inhibiting factors for entrepreneurial development among Generation Z students.

Abstract

This study diagnosed undergraduate students’ misconceptions about nucleophilic substitution mechanisms and evaluated a diagnostic-informed teaching intervention. The scope focused on SN1 (unimolecular nucleophilic substitution) and SN2 (bimolecular nucleophilic substitution), emphasizing substrate effects, solvent effects, nucleophile role, and reaction energy profiles. Using a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design, 30 third-year chemistry students completed a Five-Tier Diagnostic Test (FTDAT) in the diagnostic phase. The FTDAT measured answer choice, justification, confidence, and reported knowledge sources. Pretest results indicated limited conceptual mastery, with scientific understanding observed in 34.5% of item responses (80/232), alongside substantial false-positive understanding and misconception patterns. The intervention applied Diagram-Supported Conceptual Contrast Instruction (DSC2I) using mechanistic visualization, supported by guided practice and digital learning tools. Post-instruction understanding was assessed using a teacher-made open-ended test aligned with the same conceptual indicators. Results showed marked improvement: the mean score increased from 8.6 to 17.4 out of 20, with a normalized gain of g = 0.61 and a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.42). These findings support the value of a five-tier diagnosis to guide targeted instruction for improving mechanistic reasoning in organic chemistry
