Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of the Abjadi Method in Qur’anic reading instruction at Civilize Pitthaya School in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, where the majority of students are converts (mualaf) from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Specifically designed for beginners, the method introduces Arabic letters gradually without vowel markings and utilizes interactive media such as songs to enhance memory and student engagement. This study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the learning dynamics, teacher and student responses, as well as challenges in implementing the method. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document studies conducted during a community service program held from December 10 to 24, 2024. The findings indicate that the Abjadi Method is effective in improving students’ ability to recognize and pronounce Arabic letters accurately and enjoyably. Despite challenges such as phonetic adaptation and differences in letter sequencing, the response from both teachers and students was highly positive. With proper teacher training and the development of a systematic module, the Abjadi Method has the potential to serve as an innovative solution for Qur’anic instruction, particularly in Muslim communities with non-Arab backgrounds.

Abstract

The Qur’an affirms that water is the source of life. However, in Kampung Dayeuh, Sukanegara Village, the decline in soil absorption capacity due to reduced infiltration areas and accumulated waste has negatively impacted environmental quality and groundwater availability. This Community Service Program aims to provide education on water conservation through biopore technology and organic waste management, using the Edureligio approach that integrates Islamic values. The methods include Qur’an-based awareness sessions, interactive seminars, and hands-on practice of creating biopore infiltration holes in strategic locations based on observations of soil conditions and water flow patterns. The activities involve active participation from residents and community leaders, supported by technical training on the construction and maintenance of biopore holes. The results show improved soil moisture, increased groundwater levels, and reduced organic waste through natural compost production. The community has begun to understand that environmental stewardship is part of worship and a spiritual responsibility as stewards (khalifah) of the earth. This program demonstrates that the integration of education, simple technology, and religious values is effective in fostering sustainable ecological awareness and can serve as a model for similar initiatives in other areas.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance hadith literacy among students of MA Khairul Ummah Penjaringan, North Jakarta, through a contextual and interactive approach. The background of this activity stems from the problem of students' low understanding of hadith content and meaning, caused by conventional teaching methods that focus primarily on memorization. During a three-day community service activity, students were actively involved in learning that connected the messages of hadith to real-life situations. The methods used included group discussions, case studies, role-playing, thematic quizzes, and the use of visual media to strengthen content retention. The results showed a significant improvement in students' comprehension of the context and application of hadith values, along with increased learning interest. In addition to cognitive gains, this approach also encouraged character building and spiritual development among students. This community engagement outcome can serve as a reference for developing a more meaningful and relevant Islamic Education (PAI) curriculum, while also strengthening religious literacy in society more broadly

Abstract

Limited access to Islamic religious education for individuals with hearing impairments remains a major challenge within Indonesia’s religious education system. This study aims to establish an inclusive Qur'anic learning model by utilizing Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia (BISINDO) as the primary medium of communication and instruction at Pesantren Tahfiz Difabel KH. Lutfi Fathullah BAZNAS (BAZIS) of DKI Jakarta Province. The program has been implemented through a long-term approach involving outreach, training, and mentoring from 2022 to 2025, focusing on strengthening the competencies of deaf students in Qur’an memorization, basic jurisprudence (fiqh), Islamic creed and ethics (aqidah-akhlak), and the Prophetic biography (Sirah Nabawiyah). The teaching methods are designed to be visual, kinesthetic, and based on sign language narratives, with deaf individuals actively involved as learning facilitators. The outcomes indicate that sign language-based and visual narrative approaches effectively enhance deaf students’ understanding and memorization. Within three years, some students successfully memorized two to three sections (juz) of the Qur'an. Evaluations through participatory observation, informal discussions, and pre-post tests showed significant improvement in mastering basic worship materials and internalizing Islamic values. This program stands as a good practice in mainstreaming disability-friendly Islamic education, while also emphasizing the urgency of developing inclusive curricula, providing teacher training tailored to special needs, and fostering cross-institutional collaboration to build a comprehensive and inclusive educational ecosystem

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of communication skills among santripreneurs through their participation in the International Conference Santri Mendunia held in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. The research employs a descriptive–qualitative method with a case study approach, involving santri delegates who participated in the conference. Data collection was conducted through direct observation of various formal and informal settings during the conference, as well as documentation of participant activities and reflections.The findings indicate that this experiential-based international program effectively enhances three key aspects of communication skills: knowledge of cross-cultural norms and communication strategies, practical skills in delivering messages, managing dialogue, and adapting communication styles, as well as the motivation to build global networks. Participants not only gained greater confidence in performing on multinational platforms but also demonstrated the ability to convey pesantren values at the international level. This study highlights the importance of experiential learning in modern pesantren education and expands the framework of entrepreneurial learning through intercultural communication. The findings support the development of similar programs and international collaborations to cultivate santripreneurs who are collaborative, innovative, and globally competitive

Abstract

The Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Lapangan/ KKL) in Tangkil Village, Citeureup District, Bogor Regency, was carried out to enhance religious literacy and instill Islamic philanthropic values through the Qur’an endowment (wakaf) distribution program. Tangkil Village was selected due to its limited access to proper Qur’an copies (mushaf) and the community’s lack of understanding regarding productive wakaf, particularly among children and youth in majelis taklim (Islamic study groups). This research and service activity employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) strategy, involving the community directly in identifying needs, implementing the distribution, and evaluating the program’s benefits. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The results indicate that the distribution of new mushaf increased students’ motivation to learn, improved the fluency of Qur’an recitation, and fostered a sense of responsibility in preserving the holy book. The program also strengthened the community’s social and spiritual awareness, reflecting values of empathy, sincerity, and sustainability in Islamic philanthropy. Challenges encountered included the limited number of mushaf, insufficient time for ongoing mentoring, and variations in students’ abilities. Solutions implemented involved prioritizing distribution, delivering brief educational messages, and adapting mushaf usage according to ability levels. This program is considered relevant for replication in other areas as a model

Abstract

Environmental issues, particularly plastic waste pollution, have become a global challenge that requires sustainable solutions. The lack of public awareness in waste management indicates the urgency of an educational strategy that integrates practical approaches with spiritual values. This study aims to analyze the strengthening of environmentally friendly behavior through conservation education by implementing ecobrick and waste bank programs based on Qur’anic values. The method employed is descriptive qualitative research, using literature studies, field observations, and interviews to obtain data on community perceptions and practices in waste management. The findings reveal that the integration of Qur’anic values, such as trustworthiness (amanah, QS. Al-Ahzab: 72), the prohibition of causing destruction (QS. Al-A’raf: 56), and the encouragement to use resources wisely (QS. Al-Isra: 27), significantly contributes to enhancing community awareness, participation, and creativity in managing waste. The ecobrick program has proven effective in reducing single-use plastic waste by transforming it into alternative building materials, while the waste bank generates economic value through a savings system based on waste exchange. The synergy of both programs fosters sustainable environmentally friendly behavior. Therefore, strengthening pro-environmental behavior rooted in religious values and supported by practical waste management can serve as a scientific, effective, and relevant model of conservation education to promote the creation of healthy, productive communities and a sustainable ecosystem.

Abstract

This community service program was designed to strengthen spiritual development and deepen the sense of brotherhood among the members of Majelis Taklim Darussalam Amarapura through the Malam Bina Iman dan Taqwa (MABIT) initiative. The weakening of spiritual values and social cohesion in modern life highlights the need for a structured approach to revitalizing community-based religious education. MABIT serves as an intensive model that brings together spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions in a unified learning experience. Held on 1–2 November 2025 at Villa Ayiesa 1, Puncak Cisarua–Bogor, the program gathered fifty participants from various age groups and professional backgrounds. Its core activities included faith-strengthening lectures, Qur’anic reflection (tadabbur) on selected verses, congregational qiyamullail, guided self-reflection (muhasabah), and small-group discussions designed to encourage the sharing of personal spiritual insights. Evaluation was conducted through participatory observation, satisfaction surveys, and in-depth interviews. The results indicate clear positive outcomes: increased enthusiasm for worship, reflected in the commitment of 82% of participants to continue qiyamullail; strengthened harmony and social bonds within the community; deeper awareness of the meaning of taqwa in everyday life; and the formation of lasting communication networks and mutual support systems. Overall, MABIT proved effective in integrating elements of tazkiyatun nafs and Islamic brotherhood within the framework of dakwah bil hal, offering an experiential model that can be replicated by other religious communities. Future improvements may include involving professional facilitators, adding family-strengthening sessions, and providing follow-up programs to sustain its impact.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a significant environmental problem due to its difficulty in decomposing and the continuously increasing volume. This study aims to develop Eco-Tiles made from recycled plastic waste as a sustainable innovation in creating a multifunctional product, namely donation boxes. The processing methods include shredding the plastic, mixing it with environmentally friendly filler materials, and molding it into sturdy and durable Eco-tiles. Test results show that the Eco-Tiles have sufficient mechanical strength to be used as donation boxes, as well as good water resistance and durability. This product not only reduces plastic waste but also raises social awareness about waste management through the donation box function that supports social activities. The implementation of Eco-Tiles donation boxes is expected to become an innovative solution in managing plastic waste while meeting the community’s need for environmentally friendly fundraising tools.

Abstract

Environmental conservation is an essential effort to maintain ecosystem balance amid the challenges of rapid development, industrialization, and population growth. The excessive exploitation of natural resources without considering sustainability has led to various problems, such as pollution, soil and water degradation, and loss of biodiversity. Therefore, community involvement is a key factor in conservation strategies. This article discusses community-based environmental conservation programs carried out through practical activities such as reforestation, the creation of biopore infiltration holes, the utilization of plastic waste into ecobricks, the processing of used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles, and the production of independent trash bins. The methods employed include educational approaches, training, and direct community assistance, which resulted in improved understanding, skills, and ecological awareness. The outcomes indicate that the community not only benefited ecologically but was also encouraged to cultivate a sustainable environmental care culture. Thus, active community participation has proven to be a significant social capital in realizing environmental conservation in the modern era.
