Abstract

PT. Pos Indonesia is a state-owned company engaged in the field of receipt and delivery of goods which was first established in 1746. Frequent problems with freight forwarding services, especially PT. Pos Indonesia is a lack of competitiveness of companies with similar companies, especially private ones. This is because companies are less able to understand the desires and expectations of consumers so that they lose trust and loyalty from consumers. From these problems the purpose of this study was to find a solution using a canoe model in an effort to find improvement proposals to improve quality at PT. Indonesian post. From the research that has been done, there are 4 canoe categories on 11 variables studied. In the category of Must-be, the customer variable is comfortable and strategic location, One Dimensional, namely variable comfortable waiting place, adequate supporting facilities, timely delivery, appropriate price, fast service time and Attractive item security are only professional employee variables, and Indifferent is a lot of service and promotion in various media.

Abstract

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) is under-actuated system with highly nonlinear dynamic and Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO). AUV has stability problem due to external disturbance. These characteristics cause the AUV is difficult to be controlled and to track the reference signal automatically. Based on these problems, this paper present tracking control design and disturbance rejection using Neural Networks for AUV with 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF). The proposed control system is used to generate control signals to overcome the nonlinear dynamics of AUV. The reference signal is processed using Line of Sight (LOS) method to obtain the desired yaw of AUV. Simulation results show that the AUV is able to track the reference signal even in the presence of ocean current disturbance.

Abstract

Indonesia has many traditional or vernacular buildings that still exist right now. Those buildings have already functioned partly as tourism asset in their areas, but so many vernacular buildings remain untouchable. Whereas, in the context of tourism, there is cultural heritage which consists of three main components: (1) monuments, (2) architecture or buildings, (3) sites. When we look at vernacular buildings in Eastern Indonesia, the possibilities those buildings to be tourism asset are high. The question should be explored is: what kind of potencies that can be explored, and in turn can be “sold” as tourism asset for vernacular buildings in the villages in Eastern Indonesia? The objective of this paper is to investigate the potencies of cultural heritage from which have possibilities to be tourism asset in several vernacular spots in Eastern Indonesia: Bayan Village (Lombok), Nua One small village in Woloara Village, Sikka and Mbengu Villages (Flores), Boti and Maslete Villages (Timor). Methods to collect data by surveying on the spot to vernacular buildings in the above locations, also surveying related and competent persons. Method to analyse the data by examining the data with tourism theories. The finding is, the potencies of vernacular buildings that can be categorized as the asset of tourism in the above villages are so many, which are architectural styles and cultural festivals in the villages, and also include the approach such as rehabilitation, renovation, restoration, and conservation.

Abstract

Reinforced concrete (RC) couple wall systems, where RC beams couple two or more RC walls in series, are frequently used in high-rise buildings. Generally, coupling beams are made of RC materials. Steel coupling beam is an alternative for RC coupling beam which has a complex and and unefficient detailing construction. This paper presents a study on the use of Hybrid Coupled Wall System (HCWS) in seismic resistant high-rise RC structures. In the study, 25 storey office buildings with three types of coupling beams and three types of walls distributed over the height of the structure and located in a region with high seismicity are designed. Applying a performance-based design approach, this study developed an efficient design for RC structures having Coupling Ratio (CR) values 64.55% and affect the behavior of the wall pier in the upper region of the structure where widespread plastification and earlier crushing failure happen. Based on this findings, steel coupling beams can be used as an alternative with statisfying all performance criteria and perform at Life Safety(LS).

Abstract

Siam juice contain limonin and naringin that produce a bitter taste although these compounds useful  as an antioxidant and anticancer. Bitter taste in juice is unfavor for consumer. The purpose of this research was to find the best conditions in reducing bitter taste in Siam juice by using cyclodextrin and cellulose acetate. These research performed at variation of mixing temperature  (27; 60 and 80ºC), cyclodextrin concentration (0.1; 0.3 and 0.5% (w/v)) and cellulose acetate ( 0.2; 0.4 and 0.6% (w / v)). The results showed that the use of cyclodextrin and cellulose acetate were able to trap limonin and naringin. The higher reducing limonin juice was 91.57% by addition cyclodextrin 0.1% at 60ºC, whereas for naringin obtain by addition cellulose acetate 0.5% at 79.69% . At this temperature, the juice quality (vitamin C) can be maintained.

Abstract

The development activity of the country has played a part in natural disasters and climate change such as earthquake, El-Nino, tsunamis and water pollution have caused negative impact on human health and geo-environment. More complicated problems arise when the subsurface has experienced earthquake vibration, which no doubt influences the migration of hydrocarbon liquid into the groundwater sources. These problems need to be addressed in ensuring sustainable groundwater utilization. This paper aims to study the characteristics of hydrocarbon liquid migration that are important for the remediation cleanup of contaminated groundwater. The danger of reproductive toxic hydrocarbon chemicals has made actual on-site study infeasible and has been more practically replaced by physical model simulations. For this purpose, a physical laboratory experimental study was conducted to investigate the pattern and characteristics of different quantity toluene hydrocarbon migration in double-porosity medium under the vibration effect by using digital image analysis. The results of the experiments show that lower quantity of toluene hydrocarbon will take longer time to migrate to the bottom compared to higher quantity of toluene hydrocarbon. During experiment, air bubbles were continuously observed at the soil surface of toluene reducing due to the wettability of the liquids in the soil sample and the air trapped between the fractured aggregate and intra-inter aggregate pores. This study indicate that the digital image analysis is capable to provide the hydrocarbon flow rate and useful information for researchers and professionals to comprehensively understand migration characteristic.

Abstract

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is a business management system which integrates several domains of enterprise business processes. Among several ERP domains, inventory is one of the basic requirement domains of an enterprise. Inventory holds three important functionalities, i.e., stock request, delivery, and stock control. In this paper, we have designed inventory domain using Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) to accommodate data communication between inventory domain and other ERP domains by providing services and employed Workflow approach to automate business process in inventory domain. The implementation confirms that our design has successfully accommodated the business processes in inventory domain. In term of technology, Workflow approach is beneficial to develop inventory domain application which is responsive to sub business process changes. In addition, the usage of SOA makes the developed inventory domain application is capable to provide services to be consumed by the other ERP domains.

Abstract

Both parking fee and parking tax are the potential income for most local authorities in Indonesia since they are considered as the parts of of local authority’s revenue (Pendapatan Asli Daerah, PAD). However, currently many local authorities including that in Surabaya has a problem in determining target as well as the achievement of annual parking revenue. This situation takes place due to the lack of reliable method to estimate the parking revenue including both parking fee and parking tax either on-street parking nor off-street parking.  Meanwhile, there are growing investments of public and private facilities in many capital cities of both regency and provincy including apartments, hotels, malls, campus, hospitals, convention buildings, terminals, offices,  restaurants and mixed uses in which many parking spaces will be provided to support their activities later on. The providing of new parking spaces will therefore potentially contribute to the local authorities’s revenue as the consequences. Main variable to contribute the parking revenue are the number of parked vehicle as well as the parking duration (when progressive tariff is applied). The concept of both number of parked vehicle and parking durations for several landuses will be introduced in this paper so that they can be elaborated more in depth as a mathematical model. Furthermore they can be used as references for estimating the anual parking revenue of local authotities as the part of local authorities revenue (PAD). Moreover, these models will be useful for parking facilities investors to analyse the their financial investment.
