Abstract

Catfish is one of the aquaculture products which ranks at the top in the amount of freshwater aquaculture production produced. So far, catfish has contributed more than 10% of national aquaculture production with a growth rate of 17 to 18%. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries targets aquaculture production to reach 22.46 million tons in 2017. Catfish is one of the aquaculture products that ranks at the top in the amount of freshwater aquaculture production produced. Heterotrophic bacteria can be needed as organisms to decompose feed residues or organic matter present on the bottom of the water. The provision of heterotrophic bacteria is expected to reduce ammonia and nitrite levels in catfish culture. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the administration of Nitrosomonas bacteria on the water quality of catfish (Clarias sp.). The results of this study indicate that the addition of Nitrosomonas bacteria can affect growth, feed conversion, survival rates and water quality. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design with 4 (four) types of treatment and 3 (three) replications. The results of the addition of Nitrosomonas bacteria as much as 2% of the total volume of water (P4) gave the best effect on the growth and survival of catfish (Clarias sp.) with a specific growth value of 5.00%, a survival value of 76.67% and a conversion value feed is 1.96, while the lowest ammonia value is 0.35 mg/L.

Abstract

Sex reversal or gender inflection is a technique aimed at causing the male development of the female sex (masculinization) and masculine gender to females. One of the most often employed intricate sex techniques is masculinity. Generally, the production of single male sex cells involves taking advantage of the hormone steroid as well as natural substances. The purpose of the study is to know the effectiveness of a different kind of honey in the inbreeding of a guppy mother stem stem (Poecilia reticulata) with the percentage of male fish. The study was carried out in fish reproductive laboratories, the department of agriculture, the university of Mataram in April-Juni 2022. The study employed experimental methods of a complete random model (ral) with 4 treatments, namely P0 (control), P1 (forest honey), P2 (cattle honey), and P3 (mangrove honey). Treatment is repeated three times each. An analysis of the gender percentage carried with analysis of variance (anova) and Duncan's test. The take notes that the percentage of the male fish in forest honey, cattle honey, and mangrove honey are produced in successive percentage of the male fish at 84%, 83%, and 95%. The results of a 100% survival rate rate on all treatment, the absolute heavy growth shows the same conservative value of.38-0.39g, and the specific growth of weight indicates a value of 2.86-2.87%. It can thus be deduced that treatment with the use of mangrove honey is the treatment of the highest effectiveness in the direction of the guppy (Poecilia reticulata) fish.

Abstract

Water conservation areas are also known as fisheries reserves or reserves. Lebung Karangan is a fishery reserve in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. Community activities, either directly or indirectly, will produce waste in the form of organic and inorganic waste. This study aims to analyze the water quality status, and to identify the types of pesticides in Lebung  Karangan reserve. The study was conducted in the Lebung Karangan reserve, located in Sejaro Sakti Village, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, in November 2019. The sampling location was carried out at 4 (four) stations based on considerations of conditions at the research location. Analysis of water quality parameters was carried out in situ and ex situ. The data obtained from water quality measurements were calculated using the Pollution Index (IP) method to determine the status of water quality. The results showed that the water quality status of the Lebung Karangan reserve was in a moderately polluted to heavily pollute state, with an IP value of 10-13,54. The Lebung Karangan reserve was identified as containing organochlorine pesticides. The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference for the government in order to make policies in managing the Lebung Karangan reservae considering the condition of the waters being lightly polluted and the discovery of pesticide compounds. Key words : Lebung Karangan, organochlorine pesticides, reserve, quality status

Abstract

Abstract

Vaname (L.  vannamei  ) shrimp cultivation is currently experiencing problems, one of which is disease caused by Vibrio bacteria, especially V. parahaemolyticus. This type of vibrio is the cause of white feces disease and AHPND in shrimp. Disease control due to Vibrio can be done by utilizing plants that have active compounds as natural antibacterials that are environmentally friendly. Mangrove plants have several active compounds that have great potential as antibacterial. This study aimed to examine some parts of the mangrove plant R. apiculata in inhibiting the activity of V. parahaemolyticus. Three parts of the mangrove plant, namely: roots, stems, and leaves were extracted using methanol. The three extracts were tested for their antibacterial activity against V. parahaemolyticus by several tests such as phytochemical, sensitivity, zone of inhibition, best dose, and toxicity tests. The test results showed that R. apiculata mangrove stem extract had the greatest ability to inhibit V. parahaemolyticus with an effectiveness value of 15.85% with the best dose of 200 mg/L. Toxicity testing using vaname shrimp larvae extract showed that mangrove stems were non-toxic with an LC50 value of 2,155.5 mg/L.Keywords: White feces disease, AHPND, active compounds, extracts, antibacterials

Abstract

Corn oil is an essential fatty acid containing linoleic acid (n-6). This study aims to evaluate the different doses of corn oil in the Artemia sp. enrichment on the growth and survival of tiger catfish (Pseudoplatystoma punctifer) larvae. Tiger catfish larvae (initial weight of 0.004 g) were reared in an aquarium (30x20x20 cm) with a volume of 9 L for 15 days. Enrichment using corn oil was carried out six times a day with an enrichment duration of 4 hours, and every 4 hours continuously in each day for feeding. Three treatments with different doses: P0 (control), P1 (0.075 mL/L corn oil), P2 (0.225 mL/L corn oil) with three replications were used in the present study. The results showed that the enrichment of Artemia sp. have significant effect (p<0.05) on the growth of tiger catfish larvae than control (without enrichment). Artemia sp. enrichment with corn oil dosage of 0.225 mL/L produced the best results on final weight (0.11g), final length (24.30 mm), absolute weight growth (0.1 g), absolute length growth (20.33 mm), specific growth rate of weight (28.13  %.g/day) and specific growth rate of length (15.04 %.mm/day) of tiger catfish larvae compared to other treatments.  Key words: Artemia sp., corn oil, enrichment, tiger catfish larvae
