Abstract

Tawes (Barbonymus gonionotus) is one of the fish species whose habitats are in the Sengguru River, Gamping Village, Pagak District, Malang Regency, East Java. Research was conducted to see the growth and relationship of length and weight of tawes fish (Barbonymus gonionotus) for six months from February to July 2020. The data from the measurement of length and weight of each fish will be analyzed to determine the nature of its growth, whether allometric (b?3) or isometric (b=3). Negative allometric growth (b<3) is the increase in length faster than weight gain, while the weight gain is faster than the increase in length is a positive allometric growth (b>3), if the growth in length and weight is balanced it is called isometric (b=3). The results consisted of 240 Tawes (Barbonymus gonionotus), which had a length range of 145 to 285 mm and weights of 40,4 to 496,2. The length and weight relationship were then analyzed with the linear regression equation obtained the results in February W = 0,000926L2,206, March W = 0,012377L1,726, April W = 2,64E-06L3,308, May W = 0,000492L2,323, June W = 4,62E-05L2,781 dan July W = 7,76E-05L2,680. February, March, May, June and July showed negative allometric fish growth patterns, while in April showed positive allomertic growth patterns. Keywords: Barbonymus gonionotus, growth, long strenuous relationship

Abstract

Pemanfaatan Keramba Jaring Apung (KJA) pada perairan merupakan salah satu teknik akuakultur yang dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber perekonomian dan pemenuhan akan ikan. Lokasi budidaya ikan harus sesuai agar pengelolaan budidaya ikan dapat berjalan dengan maksimal. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian lokasi budidaya ikan menggunakan KJA dengan metode skoring atau penilaian. Lokasi pengamatan berada di Kabupaten Banyuasin yang terdiri dari Sungai Komering dan anak Sungai Komering (Sungai Rok Kemang, Sungai Aluran dan Sungai Pulau Tigo). Lokasi pengamatan ditentukan dengan metode purposive random sampling berdasarkan spesifikasi kondisi lokasi sungai. Pengamatan dilakukan pada bulan September, Oktober dan November tahun 2019. Sampel air diambil setiap bulan dan dianalisis secara insitu untuk suhu, kecerahan, kedalaman, kecepatan arus, pH, dan oksigen terlarut. Sedangkan untuk fosfat dan amonia dianalisis secara eksitu di laboratorium kimia perairan BRPPU Palembang. Hasil skoring atau penilaian di keempat lokasi, hanya Sungai Komering yang berpotensial untuk lokasi budidaya ikan (sesuai) tetapi kualitas perairan perlu dimonitor secara berkala terutama pada oksigen terlarut dan fosfat. Sungai Rok Kemang, Sungai Aluran dan Sungai Pulau Tigo tidak dapat dijadikan sebagai lokasi kegiatan budidaya ikan karena kedalaman, kecepatan arus, oksigen terlarut dan fosfat tidak mendukung.

Abstract

This research focused on determining the best survival performance of carp (C. carpio) fingerlings in circular containers combined with venturi aerators to generate water current, then challenged by A. hydrophila. The research used an experimental method of Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatment used was the use of venturi aerators on circular containers: without water current as a control (A), with a water current of 0.06 ms?¹ (B), 0.1 ms?¹ (C), and 0.14 ms?¹ (D). The study was initiated by rearing 5-7 cm fish fingerlings for 40 days and followed by a challenge test for 14 days. Carp fingerlings were challenged by A. hydrophila intraperitoneally at a density of 10? CFU ml?¹. Each tank consists of 15 fingerlings. Parameters observed included survival rate, the number of red blood cells and white blood cells, macroscopic symptoms, and water quality. The results showed survival rate in treatment (D) was the best (water current of 0.14 ms?¹), 98% before the challenge period and 95% after the challenge period. In addition, it can increase the hematological parameters as seen from the increase in the number of red and white blood cells after the challenge test, from 1.043 x 106 cells mm³?¹ to 2.36 x 106 cells mm³?¹ and 2.7 x 104 cells mm³?¹ to 9.3 x 104 cells mm³?¹ respectively. And it shows an increased immune response as seen from the recovery acceleration in macroscopic symptoms on the seventh day after A. hydrophila injection. Abstract

African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is a commodity admired by both farmers and consumers. However, one obstacle in nursery process, namely the high mortality of fry due to cannibalism, especially in mass scale nursery system. One alternative that can be done to reduce the potential for cannibalism is through a hormonal approach, namely the application of estradiol-17? hormone. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of estradiol-17? hormone within batch spawning groups on level of cannibalism of african catfish fry. This study used a non factorial randomized block design with three levels of estradiol-17? hormone doses treatment, i.e., estradiol-17? hormone on feed of 0 mg/kg feed, estradiol-17? hormone of 30 mg/kg feed, estradiol-17? hormone of 60 mg/kg feed, on three batch spawning groups. African catfish seeds were reared in concrete tanks with density of 1,194 fish/m2 within two weeks. The results showed that dose of estradiol-17? hormone treat-ment was not able to reduce cannibalism, but in third batch spawning group sup-ported absolute weight of 0.32 g (P<0.05), and in second batch spawning group were reduced cannibalism potential parameter by 0.61%, and a survival rate of 70.04%. Key words : Batch Spawning, Cannibalism, Clarias gariepinus, Estradiol-17?

Abstract

Ginger is one type of traditional plant that can be used to control Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS) disease which attacks catfish (Pangasius sp) cultivation. This study aims to determine the effect of ginger powder added to feed to treat A. hydrophila infection in catfish. The research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Study Program of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in October 2020. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments (T) with 3 replications, namely (T0) without the addition of ginger flour, ( T1) adding 10 g.kg-1  ginger flour, (T2) adding ginger flour 12.5 g.kg-1, (T3) adding ginger flour 15 g.kg-1, (T4) adding ginger flour 17.5 g.kg-1  and (T5) adding ginger flour 20 g.kg-1. The parameters observed were length and weight growth, total erythrocytes, total leukocytes, larvae survival, water physics and chemistry (temperature, pH, DO and ammonia). The results of this study indicate that the best treatment is found at (T5) with an absolute weight growth of 6.25 grams, an absolute length growth of 1.09 cm, 90.00% survival. During maintenance the water quality is at conditions 27-29 0C for temperature, water pH 6-7, dissolved oxygen 5.00 mg.L-1, and ammonia 0.005-0.040 mg.L-1.Key words : Aeromonas hydrophila, Catfish, Ginger, Essential oil

Abstract

Biofloc technology (BFT) is an alternative that can be used to provide additional feed source in addition to control and improve water quality for aquaculture. BFT can be done by adding an organic carbon source to increase the C/N ratio in  the culture media to stimulate the growth of heterotrophic bacteria. The results of the observation were that the highest specific growth rate was obtained in treatment B (5ml floc) with an average value of 2.80 grams/day. The highest average length value in treatment B (5ml floc) reached 10.26 cm. The highest survival rate was in treatment B (5ml floc) with an average value of 86.78%. The highest efficiency value was found in treatment B (5ml floc) with an average of 95.90%. Based on Duncan's further test (p<0.05) the application of biofloc with an external carbon source from sweet sorghum had a significant effect on the specific growth rate, absolute growth, survival rate and feed efficiency of tilapia fry. Keywords : Biofloc; Sweet Sorghum; Tilapia Nirwana ; Aquacukture

Abstract

Guppy fish is one of the ornamental fish commodities that is quite in demand, because of its various types with beautiful colors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding carrot flour in commercial feed to improve the color quality of guppy fish and the best dose. The test fish used were male guppy fish strain HB red with sizes ranging from 2–3 cm. This research was conducted using an experimental design, namely a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments (commercial feed enriched with carrot flour as much as 0%; 2,5%; 5%; 7,5%; 10%) and three replications. The results showed that the addition of a dose of carrot flour had an effect on improving the color quality of guppies and the highest color quality improvement was found in treatment 4 (10% 2 carrot flour) with a chroma value of 3.97±0,18c , while in the control treatment, treatment 1, treatment 2, and treatment 3 got chroma values of 1.26±0.12a, 1.28±0.03a, 1.71±0.06a, 2.72±0.31b. Survival showed the results were not significantly different, that is 100%. Water quality includes an average temperature of 25,5– 26,6?C, pH 7–8, DO 6,7–7,8 mg/L. Key words : HB Red; Carotene; Chroma value; Survival

Abstract

Traditional and intensive cultivation activities on freshwater fish species that have economic value have been carried out, one of which is catfish. One way to increase the amount of catfish production can be done by increasing the stocking density in the rearing container. Increased stocking density of catfish rearing can cause problems in water quality. This study aims to analyze the administration of Rhodobacter bacteria on the quality of catfish rearing water and conclude the best dose for catfish rearing water quality. This research was carried out for 60 days starting from May-July 2021 at the Wet Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Mataram University. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) which included 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments consisted of A (without giving Rhodobacter), B (Adding Rhodobacter 0.5 ml/1 liter of water), C (adding Rhodobacter as much as 1 ml/1 liter of water), D (adding Rhodobacter as much as 1.5 ml/1 liters of water). The highest ammonia content was found in treatment A of 8.78 mg/L and the lowest was in treatment D of 4.78 mg/L. The highest nitrite content was found in treatment A of 1.26 mg/L and the lowest was found in treatment D of 0.41 mg/L. The highest nitrate content was found in treatment D of 73.33 mg/L and the lowest was found in treatment A of 40.00 mg/L. The highest survival rate was in treatment D of 95.83% and the lowest was in treatment A of 71.7%.

Abstract

Pangasius catfish rearing ponds and swamp waters are types of stagnant waters (lentic) that are commonly found in the South Sumatra region. Cyanobacter is a group of phytoplankton that plays an important role in the management of aquatic area, but it is not widely known which species is the most dominant in swamp waters. This study aims to determine the types of cyanobacter that are abundant in the swamps and Pangasius catfish cultivation ponds in Ogan Olir, South Sumatra. This research has been carried out by cyanobacter isolation from the swamp water and the pond, isolate liquid cultivation, DNA isolation, 16S rRNA gene amplification and DNA amplicon sequencing. The sequencing results were analyzed using BLAST (Basic local alignment search tool-nucleotide) and MEGA 6 with the help of NCBI gene bank data to obtain a phylogenetic tree for predicting the identity of the cyanobacter isolates. Based on the morphological characters, it is suspected that the pond isolates are similar to Synechoccocus and swamp isolates similar to Microcystis genera. The amplification of cyanobacter DNA using the PCR method with the universal 16S rRNA 63F (Forward) and 1387 R (Reverse) resulted 1302-1307 base pairs. Analysis using BLAST showed that the cyanobacter isolates from ponds have 91% similar to Uncultured Synechoccocus sp. from Australia, while the swamp isolates have 86% similar to Microcystis sp. from China. Key words : Cyanobacteria, Microcystis, PCR, Phylogenetic, Synechococcus

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yakni untuk menganalisa lama waktu perendaman terbaik embrio menggunakan air kelapa terhadap maskulinisasi ikan cupang (Betta Sp.). Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 45 hari, terhitung dari tanggal 20 Juni 2021 sampai dengan tanggal 7 Agustus 2021 bertempat di Labrotarium Basah Program Studi Budidaya Perairan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Mataram. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Hewan uji yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu embrio ikan cupang yang berumur 28 jam. Rancangan penelitian yang diterapkan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga kali ulangan, yaitu : P1 (tanpa perendaman / 0 jam), P2 (perendaman 6 jam), P3 (perendaman 12 jam), dan P4 (perendaman selama 18 jam). Embrio ikan cupang direndam dalam air kelapa dengan dosis 10%/L. Pengamatan persentase jantan dilakukan pada saat ikan cupang berumur 45 hari dengan cara mengidentifikasi ciri seksual sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata jumlah persentase ikan cupang jantan pada perlakuan P1 yaitu 58,34%, P2 dengan hasil 82,40%, P3 sebesar 83, 69% serta P4 yaitu 74,97%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penggunaan air kelapa dalam maskulinisasi ikan cupang (Betta splendens) menggunakan metode perendaman embrio dengan lama waktu yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap tingkat persentase ikan cupang jantan, akan tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan cupang. Perlakuan persentase ikan jantan terbaik didapatkan pada perlakuan P3 dengan lama waktu perendaman 12 jam yaitu sebesar 83,69%.Kata kunci : air kelapa, embrio, ikan cupang, maskulinisasi
