Abstract

Rappaport non-Hodgkin lymphoma classification is well known, by pathologists and clinicians. This classification is based on the morphology of tumor cells. Lukes and Collins classification, and also Lennert classification are new non-Hodgkin lymphoma classifications. These classifications are based on morphology, basic function of tumor cells, and the clinical application. However, there are some differences between Rappaport classification, Lukes and Collins classification and Lennert classification. To compromise the differences of the classifications, there is a working classification of non-Hodgkin lymphoma which is used for clinical diagnosis. It is important to discuss the non-Hodgkin lymphoma classifications because each classification has its own basis. The basic classification of non-Hodgkin lymphoma is useful for the specialists based on their specialties; Lennert classification, and Lukes and Collins classification are the applicable classifications of non-Hodgkin lymphoma for pathologists and clinicians, while Rappaport classification is more useful for pathologists.Key Words: non-Hodgkin lymphoma histopathological diagnosis of lymphoma - basic function of tumor cells - leucaemia - Sezarys syndrome

Abstract

A hemophiliac boy was hospitalized due to head injury in the previous sixteen days. On admission the consciousness decreased and visus of both eyes was 1/on. CT scan showed blood clot in the area of dorsomedial of medial cerebral arteria and sign of hydrocephalus. A surgical procedure could not be taken due to lack of facilities (antihemophilic factor supply and assay of factor VIII activity). The patient was given 6 cryoprecipitate everyday and supportive treatment as indicated. Fortunately the patient recovered, no neurologic complication occurred except the visus of the right eye that was still 1/oo and the hydrocephalus decreased.Key words : hemophilia - laboratory diagnostics - head injury - hydrocephalus and decreased visus - cryoprecipitate

Abstract

Stroke is a disease caused by cerebral blood flow disturbance. Disturbance of cerebral blood flow could induce oxidative and nitrosative stres. Beside that, stroke is a also neurodegenerative disease that based on several risk factors. Some risk factors of stroke have causative link with oxidative and nitrosative stres. These risk factors include aging, hypertension, smoking, atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus. Key words: stroke - risk factor -reactive oxygen species - reactive nitrogen species

Abstract

Hysterosalpingography is performed by injecting contrast media into the uterus to visualize the uterine cavity and Fallopian tubes. Water-soluble contrast media are used in these examinations. Hysterosalpingographic examination is very important for the diagnosis of infertility and some gynecologic abnormalities.Between January-December 1981 hysterosalpingography had been performed in 79 cases of primary infertility, 28 cases of secondary infertility and 3 cases with abortion history. The hysterosalpingogram demonstrated that 23.64% of all cases were bilateral non-patent and 21.8% unilateral non-patent. Hydrosalpinx was found in 22 cases, 17 cases with bilateral or unilateral non-patent tubes and 5 cases with patent ones. Ten cases showed paratubal filling assosiated with patent and non-patent tubes.Key Words: hysterosalpingography - hydrosalpinx - infertility - contrast media - Fallopian

Abstract

Background: Age of circum puberal is important because during this period primary and secondary sexual characteristics are developing. Morphological sexual differentiations of boys and girls during this period cause sexual dimorphism, i.e. anatomical differences especially in the body measurements. One of the important variations is the measurements of pelvic (pelvimetry). Objective: The aims of this studi were to know the pelvimetric sexual dimorphism of boys and girls at the circum puberal age. Methods: Investigation was conducted on 172 children of 12 up to 15 years old which consisted of 72 boys and 100 girls who were born and lived in Imogiri District, Bantu! Regency, Yogyakarta Special Province. The samples were divided into 4 groups and were measured on height, weight, bicristal breadth, biiliospinal anterior breadth, bitrochanteric breadth, distance of lumbale-symphysion and pelvic girdle. The indices calculated are Livis index, bicristal index, bitrochanteric index, and the sexual dimorphism index of all measurements. The datas were analysed using two-ways anova, student-t analysis, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Results: The result showed that bicristal breadth, biiliospinal anterior breadth and distance of lumbalesymphysion did not indicate sexual dimorphism significantly in children in the circum puberal age, although girls at 12 and 13 years old have greater measurements than boys. Bitrochanteric breadth and pelvic girdle showed sexual dimorphism since the age of 13 years, girls had greater measurements than boys. Sexual dimorphism of pelvic shape showed by bicristal index was happened at 15 years old, girls had greater index than boys. Sexual dimorphism of hip shape showed by bitrochanteric breadth index was happened since 13 years old, girls had greater index than boys. Conclusions: It was concluded that pelvic measurements showed sexual dimorphism in children at the circum puberal age by different time and pattern.Key words: sexual dimorphism - pelvimetry - children - circum puberal
