Abstract

This article focused on the development of islamic economic education in Indonesia with a multicultural approach. It tries to reaffirm Islam's universal values and adjust them to local values that have long been entrenched in the midst of Indonesian multicultural society. This descriptive qualitative research used data sources from literature or library research. The normative approach was applied to examine the ideals of the Islamic Economic conception and then analyzed how it is applied. The result of this research regarding the urge to develop islamic economics based on a multicultural perspective: firstly, it is because of the emergence of the globalization era and postmodern culture. Secondly, the reality of Indonesian plurality, apart from syiar, is used to explore the local genius in socio-economic in Indonesia. Islamic economic education with a multicultural approach is a progressive approach to transform education that holistically provides criticism and shows the weaknesses of Islamic economic education. Islamic economic education based on local values as an instrument of social adjustment encourages the administrators of Islamic economics to play a role in instilling the awareness of the multicultural community to realize a level of comprehension of inclusive Islamic economics.

The interaction between culture and religion in Toraja brings social changes in various aspects of life. The cultured Toraja society gets new spiritual content, while religion gets new means to introduce the richness of its faith. This study examined the forms of religious and cultural interactions expressed in Toraja’s houses of worship, namely the Great Mosque of Rantepao and the Church of St. Theresia Rantepao, as the object of this research. In this case, two things that became the main study were how the acculturation of Islam and Catholicism in Toraja at the place of worship of the Great Mosque of Rantepao and the Church of St. Theresia Rantepao is as well as the difference between Islamic and Catholic acculturation in the Great Mosque and the Church of St. Theresia Rantepao. The interaction process between religion and Toraja culture has succeeded in forming a distinctive religious society in Toraja society, which carries out spiritual teachings well, but also upholds the cultural values in society. Abstract

FPI is one among several Islamist Groups in Indonesia. Seeing through its fierce actions, people tend to judge FPI as radicals. Some political elites even classify it as terrorist. Despite the fact that it violates many rules, FPI claims to be a religious and pious one. The government disbanded FPI at the end of 2020 because of its numerous violent actions. However, it continues to get support from many Islamic communities. For some conservative Muslims, FPI actions are a sample of how Islamic teaching should be applied in daily life. Using qualitative research and narrative analysis, this paper explored the narrative of Sacred Text, especially the Quran and Hadith presented by FPI, on how it is managed, interpreted, and spread to the public. This paper also explored the possible errors FPI made in narrating sacred text. The results show FPI’s determination to interpret and narrate sacred text as a way to achieve a goal, without considering the views of other religious scholars and books that can better guide narrating and interpreting the Sacred Text.

Abstract

The research aims to identify the relationship between the phenomenon of digital finance on the debt trap with the study of human security in the Islamic concept. Cybercrime harms many people by misusing personal data that can be accessed online illegally, such as loan applications, digital shopping, or digital wallet. The debt trap resulted in the application then best analyzed through human security of international relations. The study focused on human security, such as personal and economic security. The study concluded that the awareness of digital financial literacy would greatly help from debt traps by means of the loan application. Accordingly, Islamic studies became very relevant to the phenomenon in the Maqasid Sharia law, such as Hifdz al Maal, which also discussed economic security from an Islamic view. The correlation between the phenomenon would be best analyzed with both concepts to reduce harm to economic security, structurally and religiously. On the other hand, the lack of socialization in digital economy transactions threatens the security of people nowadays. The research used mix method approach with secondary and primary data. The primary data were obtained from the questionnaire from 61 samples from 17 years old Indonesian, then delivered in descriptive statistics to see the fact for real, while the secondary data was obtained from journals, books, and articles. The analysis determined the correlation between digital financial phenomena in the Maqosid Sharia Concept and human security.

Abstract

The emergence of terrorist groups in the Aceh Province, which is spreading, was revealed after reports from residents and local clerics about armed training carried out by this radical group in Bukit Jalin, Aceh Besar, in September 2009. This terrorism case attracted the attention of the local government and local community. All of this has mainly happened because the expansion of the material world and technology has structured new settings for needs and patterns of life and created fields or jobs (occupations) that are very different from what had developed in the agrarian society in Aceh that was pre-Islamic. -industry. These changes in employment are directly related to economic development in the era of capitalism, which in turn requires investment in capital goods and an increase in the standard of prosperity. As a result, “as the economy develops, the need for skilled workers, technologists, and generally educated people increases almost geometrically”. Thus, what is then witnessed is the continuous adjustment efforts of the traditional and modern world of education into the dynamics of the expansion of the material and technological world. With the emergence of terrorist movements and radical movements that try to offer perspectives and solutions that are based on considerations of violence in addressing the problems of modernity and Indonesianness, it is necessary to play the role of ulama and community leaders who are able to raise socio-cultural capital to deal with the problems of radicalism and terrorism in Aceh/Indonesia in the era of capitalism, in addition to strict law enforcement to eradicate terrorism that threatens our people in Aceh and Indonesia.

Abstract

Centuries after the miḥnah, the problem of the status of the Qurʿān and God’s speech in general persisted as a crucial theological problem discussed among Muslim theologians. This study examines the solution to this debate suggested by Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī (d. 606/1210), an Ashʿarite-Shafiʿite theologian, with special reference to his book Khalq al-Qurʾān Bayn al-Muʿtazilah Wa Ahl al-Sunnah. It aims principally to discuss how al-Rāzī responds to the objections from his opponents on the nature of God’s speech, its uniqueness, and its pre-eternity. This research found that despite his affiliation to Ashʿarite school, al-Rāzī took a more moderate position towards the Muʿtazilah compared to his predecessors. He accepts the argument of the Muʿtazilah school that is built on the different conceptions of speech (kalām). We also found that the main key to understanding the debate between the pre-eternity or adventitiousness of God’s speech, including the Qur’ān, derived principally from the definition of speech itself. Rāzī does not reject the createdness of the external dimension of God’s speech, but he defends that its inner dimension (kalām nafs) is eternal. Furthermore, al-Rāzī also does not hesitate to borrow the falsafa theory to solve the problem of the pre-eternity of kalām as God’s attribute.

Abstract

Learning for marginalized children has taken place in conditions not befitting other schools in general. There are many challenges faced by students and school managers, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to analyze Islamic resilience implemented by marginal school managers to strive for educational transformation. This qualitative study used a case study approach, with data collected through interviews and direct observations in the research location. The results show that the dimensions of Islamic resilience implemented by MSC management are optimism, problem analysis, empathy, and self-confidence. The belief that God does not give burdens beyond human ability and that the best human beings are those that benefit others is a strength for school administrators to remain as members for marginalized children to continue their education. The learning concept of the Marginal School Community is oriented toward children, adjusting to their age level, with reading, writing, mathematical materials, creativity, and religious material. The learning methods employed include learning by doing, learning while playing, and outings. The curriculum used in marginal schools is inclusive and accessible, developed by the MSC curriculum team. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, learning is still conducted face-to-face, albeit with reduced learning hours and the number of MSC volunteers attending classes. The strategy for maintaining learning consistency in marginal schools is achieved through open recruitment of volunteers and internal reinforcement or team building.

Abstract

This paper examines Khaled Abou El Fadl’s thoughts that focus on applying humanistic Sharia. Khaled considers the spread of Sharia with a humanistic pattern important because of the problem of not realizing the ideals of Islamic teachings that uphold justice, welfare, and other universal values at the level of reality for Muslims who experience backwardness and alienation. According to Khaled, this happened due to a misunderstanding in understanding the Sharia, resulting in a wrong practice. The misunderstanding that gave rise to this wrong practice has global implications, assuming that Islam is a non-humanistic religion. By using the analytical description method, this paper reformulates the humanistic Sharia proposed by Khaled from several of his works and rearranges it based on the theory of the leveling norms.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama are the two pillars of the Islamic movement in Indonesia. Muhammadiyah represents the modernist Islamic movement. Meanwhile, Nahdlatul Ulama represents the traditionalist Islamic movement. The role of both in da'wah activities of Islam in religious, educational, and social fields is crucial. In the context of Islamic economics, both contribute to the development of Islamic economics in Indonesia. Through a historical analysis, this study showed that Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama have contributed to the Sharia economic development since before the independence of Indonesia in the context of Islamic economic thoughts and practices. With the spirit of the Qur’an, chapter al-Maʿun, the founder of Muhammadiyah, KH Ahmad Dahlan, has inspired Muhammadiyah members to implement Islamic economy in the forms of Islamic philanthropy, which remains preserved until today. At the same time, KH Hasyim Asy'ari, as the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama, initiated Nahdlatut Tujjar as an embryo for the birth of Nahdlatul Ulama.
