Abstract

Forest encroachment and both of its complexity and implication is a problem that faced not only an area/region but also all forest areas in the country,  so that the encroachment has been a national scale problem that supposed to have serious attention  especially to overcome it. Natural disaster such as flood, landslide that always happened in rainy season and often cause hundreds of unguilty victim. The research was to find out the result of interpretation and the width of protected forest encroachment, South Dolo Subdistrict Sigi Dictrict. The research applied supervised classification and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) analysis. The analysis used in the research was managing image digitally that used for image correcting, image band compositing, image cutting, image sharpening and clarifying. Based on the research it was found that the clarification result of land covering consisted of primary forest, secondary forest, opened lang, plantation and settlement. The map of land covering for the research had the accuracy level of 86%, meant that the map for the research fulfilled the standart of carefulness interpretation and very good for seeing the class of land covering type in protected forest of  South Dolo Subdistrict Sigi District. The area of Protected Forest in South Dolo Subdistrict had density level with interval vegetation Index (NDVI) from -0,58 to  0.07 with 966,50 width or 100 % percentage. The result of scoring count showed that the result of NDVI with rare criteria was -0,58- 0,07 and the land use that consisted of forest with width of  26.947,79 ha (93,04 %) and encroachment rate of 180 and in the category of fair encroachment level, good managed land in width of 3.92,99 ha (1,35%)  encroachment rate 240 with high encroachment level, and bad managed land with widht of  1.625,72ha (5,61 %) and encroachment rate of 300 was in the level of high encroachment, therefore the total width was 28.966,50 ha (100%).Keywords:  Encroachment, Protected Forest, NDVI.

Abstract

Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve is one of the conservation sites geographically located at Parigi Moutong District Central Sulawesi Province. The reserve is known to be the host of many protected species of flora and fauna including orchids. However, species richness of orchids decreased over time due to habitat degradation as well collection for commercial purposes as ornamental type of vegetation to improve community’s income. This research was to endeavor characteristics of the host trees for the orchids living in the reserve. The research was conducted from November 2014 to January 2015 using line transect methods. Transects were placed on the line purposively. Observation transects form were Quadratic with size of 20 m x 20 m. The research (applying 5 observation plots) revealed that there were 12 tree species that function as host. In general, most orchids like to have host with thick bark, coarse and scratches as well as wide canopy to cover orchids reproduction. Interestingly, it was found that each host has different orchid species (12 species). Keywords: host tree characteristics, orchids, Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve

Abstract

Private forest is a concept of forest management that places society as the main sector in maintaining and using forest function, while the government has role as facilitator that supports the farmers community. The management and the development of  private forest in Sintuwu village Palolo subdistrict is a collaboration of Forestry and Plantation Department of Sigi District. The research was conducted for three months, began on April  up to the month of June 2015, located in Sintuwu village Palolo subdistrict Sigi district.  The research aimed to find out of how the process of Private Forest Management was done by the society. Data gathering was done by observing and interviewing with questionnaire. The data gathered analized descriptively. The result of the research showed that the management program of the private forest that made by Forestry and Plantation by full involvement of farmers community of Sintuwu village that established, and based on the result of interviewing the respondents of the farmers community who said that less attention from Forestry and Plantation Department then the Private Forest management was done individually without any coordination. All farmers community did the private forest management that included infrastructure, planting area management, planting, maintaining and supervising by their own ways without monitoring by the government, therefore at the end of the planting the plant, it was ignored for them less of information and no coordination of  the Forestry and Plantation Department about the next step that should be done in relation to the Private Forest management itself. Keywords: Institution, Society and Government, Private Forest

Abstract

The mangrove forest is a forest type that grows in tidal areas (especially in the sheltered beach, lagoons, and estuaries) that vegetation communities tolerate high salinity. The mangrove forest ecosystem is a system consisting of organisms (vegetation, animals, and microorganisms) that interact with the system environment on a mangrove forest habitat. On the basis of this system, the mangrove ecosystem can be seen as a habitat for mangrove vegetation. The research was conducted in the tourist area of mangroves in the village of Labuan. The research was conducted in the tourist area of mangroves in the village of Labuan district of Lage, Poso Regency. This study lasted for 3 months starting from May to July 2014. The data collection technique using the line transect observation location. Based on the observation of terrestrial fauna species in the tourist area of mangrove forest in the village of Labuan, the three types of land fauna that fauna species of birds, reptiles fauna and fauna of invertebrates/insects. Tourist area of mangrove forest in Labuan village is dominated by the number of fauna species of birds (Aves). Species diversity index (H ') of 2. 4314 and evenness index (E) of 0.7080. need for attention and conservation efforts of the government to the location of the tourist area of mangroves in the village of Labuan, see the condition of the area is damaged and not well maintained. Because other than as a tourist area, the area also serves as the habitat of the fauna to live and forage, therefore their rehabilitation and maintenance of back region. Abstract

This the study was conducted in Taipa, Palu Utara Regency of Palu City. The aims of this study to identify the attrition rate based on slope and river flow pattern used SPOT 6 of 2014 in Taipa watersheds. Method of the study was classification technique of image SPOT-6 2014, which to classify the river flow patterns and the gradual slope to find out the level of erosion in Taipa watersheds, Palu Utara Regency of Palu City. The results of calculation through image SPOT 6 of 2014 along with data covering this study that a very large erosion rate occurs at level 3 is 1181,02 ha, which is based on the relationships between slope classes and river flow. Based on data analysis of Rate of Erosion Hazard (TBE) the greater value of erosion rate then greater also the erosion hazard, so that the appropriate action is needed to reduce the level of erosion hazard in order to minimize the extent of changes that might occur. The value of X2 = 60.398,37, T table = 32.000, then 60.398,37 > 32.000 = Ha is accepted. Based on T counted and T table, then it can be found there is a correlation between the rate of erosion and slope classes used image SPOT 6. It can be stated that T counted is greater than T table. This correlation is based on the assumption that the other variables are same, which different only the slope. If the other variables are not similar, for examples rockresistance or the different land cover, then the correlation would be different also. Keywords: Erosion Rate, Spasial Data, Watersheds Taipa
