Abstract

Binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.)Steenis) tuber is one of the plant that is not utilized yet for medicine. The aims of this research are to extract Binahong tuber  and determine superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of kidney of rat (RattusNorvegicus) induced by Aloxsan. Extraction of binahong tuber was conducted by maceration method using 70% ethanol. The ethanol extract was used for therapy of Rat induced by Aloxsan and to determine SOD activity. Measuring of SOD kidney activity was conducted on 6 group of rat are D1 (control), D2 (0,5 % CMC-Na, dose 1 mL/200 g body weight), D3 (aloxsan 32 mg/200g body weight), D4, D5, D6 (aloxan 32 mg/kg body weight with therapy. Doses of extract binahong tuber were 25, 50 and 75 mg/kg body weight, respectively.The results showed that therap y of 70 % ethanol extract of Binahong tuber could increase the SOD activity of rat kidneys. But, after analyzed by ANAVA one way, the therapy did not give a real effect with value of α0,05 (0,1290,05). Duncan test showed that there was significant difference between D3 and D4. So the effective dose was 25 mg/kg body weight. Phytochemical test showed that ethanol extract of binahong tuber contained alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin and terpenoid. Keywords: Tuber of Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Abstract

Proses koagulasi dapat menggunakan bahan koagulan sintetis dan alami. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengolahan air limbah yang dikoagulasi dengan menggunakan koagulan biji kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) dan Tawas (aluminium sulfat). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efektifitas koagulan ekstrak NaCl biji kelor dan tawas terhadap parameter air limbah dan mengetahui karakterisasi koagulan biji kelor.Tahapan awal 1 gr biji kelor diekstrak menggunakan larutan NaCl dengan variasi konsentrasi (0,5; 1; 1,5 dan 2 M), hasil terbaik dilakukan proses karakterisasi larutan ekstrak NaCl biji kelor meliputi uji kadar karbohidrat, protein dan lemak, kemudian digunakan sebagai koagulan dan dibandingkan dengan tawas. Variasi dosis koagulan yang digunakan (10, 20, 40, 80 dan 160 mL/L) dilakukan analisis parameter pH, kadar nitrat dan kekeruhan untuk mengetahui efektifitas dari masing-masing koagulan. Nilai variasi konsentrasi NaCl sebagai larutan pengekstrak biji kelor paling optimum adalah 1 M yang dapat menurunkan kekeruhan sampel air limbah sampai 74 %. Larutan ini juga mengandung karbohidrat 831 ppm, protein 3348 ppm dan 800 ppm lemak. Penambahan koagulan tawas sebanyak 80 mL/L membuat pH sampel air limbah turun menjadi 6,33; kadar nitrat 0,66 ppm dan mampu menurunkan kekeruhan sampai 58 %. Penambahan koagulan biji kelor sebanyak 80 mL/L membuat sampel air limbah berada pada pH 7,34 dan mampu menurunkan nilai kekeruhan sebesar 80,7 % tetapi kurang efektif dalam penurunan kadar nitrat.

Abstract

Candy sold in the market could be containing a heavy metals like copper. In this study, candy was destructed with HNO3, HNO3/H2SO4 (3:1) dan HNO3/H2SO4/H2O2 (6:2:1) to know the best matter oxidixer for copper. Then, evaluated the levels of copper using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The one way anove result with F test showed that the best oxidizer for copper in candy is HNO3/H2SO4. The average concentration of Copper in candy coded A, B, C, D, and E were 1. 72 mg/Kg; 1.69 mg/Kg; 1.57 mg/Kg; 1.71 mg/Kg; and 1.69 mg/Kg respectively. Abstract

Chlorella sp. merupakan mikroalga uniselular berukuran mikroskopis yang banyak mengandung minyak organik yang dapat dihidrolisis menjadi asam lemak. Asam lemak merupakan salah satu komponen aktif dalam mikroalga yang diduga berperan sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri asam lemak hasil hidrolisis minyak mikroalga Chlorella sp. terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus.Isolasi minyak Chlorella sp. dilakukan dengan metode Soxhletasi dengan pelarut n-heksana. Minyak Chlorella sp. dihidrolisis dengan KOH 12 % dalam pelarut metanol untuk mendapatkan asam lemak. Asam lemak yang  dihasilkan diuji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri E. coli dan S. aureus menggunakan metode difusi cakram.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rendemen Soxhletasi minyak Chlorella sp. adalah sebesar 6,28 %. Hidrolisis minyak Chlorella sp. menghasilkan rendemen sebesar 69,57 %. Asam lemak memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri S. aureus, tetapi tidak terhadap bakteri E. coli. Zona hambat asam lemak Chlorella sp. terhadap bakteri S. aureus pada konsentrasi 0,5; 1; 1,5; 2; dan 2,5 % secara berturut-turut adalah 1,8; 1,9; 3,2; 3,5; dan 3 mm.

Abstract

Kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) adalah tanaman yang kaya nutrisi. Kandungan nutrisi tersebar pada seluruh bagian tanaman kelor, mulai dari daun, kulit batang, bunga, buah (polong), sampai akarnya. Kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) mempunyai banyak manfaat, misalnya digunakan sebagai koagulan, nutrisi, vitamin, dan sebagai obat. Selama ini kelor di Indonesia hanya digunakan sebagai tanaman pagar dan sayuran  dan masih jarang ada penelitian tentang bioaktivitas daun kelor dan pemanfaatannya  sebagai antikanker. Penelitian ini mempelajari toksisitas ekstrak akuades (suhu kamar) dan akuades panas (70 oC) daun kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) terhadap larva udang Artemia salina Leach dengan menggunakan metode BSLT. Pemilihan pelarut akuades sangat menguntungkan karena ekonomis dan mudah diperoleh, sehingga mudah diaplikasikan oleh masyarakat.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak akuades (suhu kamar) dan akuades panas (70 oC) daun kelor memiliki tingkat toksisitas terhadap Artemia salina Leach yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai LC50 kurang dari 1000 ppm. Ekstrak akuades panas (70 oC) memiliki toksisitas lebih baik dari pada ekstrak akuades (suhu kamar) karena dihasilkan nilai LC50 berturut-turut 163,979 ppm dan 265,977 ppm. Kandungan golongan senyawa pada ekstrak akuades panas (70 oC) adalah alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin dan triterpenoid. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut bahwa daun kelor mempunyai potensi sebagai tanaman sediaan herbal yang nantinya bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai antibakteri dan antikanker.

Abstract

Black cumin (Nigella sativa, L.) is a plant with a lot of advantages. Many research have been conducted on this plant and most of them use nonpolar, such as petroleum ether and chloroform, as a solvent in extraction process. In this research, extraction of black cumin using ethanol was applied.Black cumin extraction started with maceration using ethanol p.a. and partition using chloroform (1:1). The antioxidant activity of ethanol fraction of black cumin was examined by DPPH method. To identify the composition, phytochemical screening, including test for terpenoid, flavonoid, saponin, tannin and alkaloid, was also conducted.The result showed that the scavenging ability on DPPH method was 22.483% with IC50 2743.59. Phytochemical screening on ethanol fraction showed the presence of flavonoid, tannin and alkaloid. The study concluded that polar fraction of black cumin has small antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Rice bran contains components such as oryzanol antioxidants, tocopherols, tocotrienols, phytosterols, polyphenols, and squalene. Oryzanol is a very powerful antioxidant and oryzanol is only found in rice bran oil. This research aims to know the antioxidant activity of the extract chloroform:methanol in the bran and find the endurance of antioxidant against a wide variety of pH and temperature. The method used is descriptive research through experimental tests in the laboratory. Samples taken from the side of rice mills in the form of bran and then macerated with chloroform: methanol. After that tested the antioxidant activity of the compounds made by the method of DPPH with various concentration 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ppm. Furthermore, the endurance test of antioxidant compounds at various pH and temperature using the best concentration of antioxidant compounds. Based on the results, rice bran oil extract concentration of 50 ppm has antioxidant activity of 4.69%. Average yield the highest antioxidant activity shown in heating conditions with a temperature of 30oC for 30 minutes is equal to 32.25%. As well as the highest antioxidant activity was also shown at pH 5 in the amount of 25.1%. Keywords: DPPH, Oryzanol, Rice bran

Abstract

Sea cucumber Paracaudina australis crackers is one of the sea foods processed which highly produced and consumed at Kenjeran Surabaya. The research aims to measure concentration of mercury and copper in fried and un-fried sea cucumber Paracaudina australis, Crackers collected from three supplier at Kenjeran Surabaya Using Atomic Absorption S Spectroscopy (AAS). The six sample were oxidized using oxidator agents  of HNO3 Pa, H2SO4 Pa, H2O2 Pa (6:2:1) under wet-closed digestion for Hg analysis and wet-opened digestion for Cu analysis. Vapor generation Accessory (VGA-AAS) was applied for measuring Hg concentration while flame AAS for Cu. The research indicated that Hg concentration in sea cucumber crackers were 0,058; 0,0149; 0,108 ppb (un-fried crackers) and 0,078; 0,074; 0,061 ppb (fried crackers) Cu concentration in sea cucumber crackers was measured as 2,037; 3,05; 3,16 ppm (un-fried crackers) and 1,164; 1,589; 1,924 ppm (fried crackers).

Abstract

Sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) is one kind of sea cucumbers that contains of bioactive compound that can inhibit bacteria growth. This research aim to know the effect of methanol and n-hexane extract towards bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli bacterial growth and to identification estimation active compound group.Sea cucumbers active compound extraction using maceration method with methanol and n-hexane as a solvent. Methanol and n-hexane crude extract conducted antibacterial assay using disk diffusion method towards bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Escherichia coli and continued with reagent test to knowing active compound group.The result of this research indicated that n-hexane extracts provide the best inhibition zone toward bacterium Escherichia coli at concentration 2000 ppm with among of inhibition zone 1,75 mm, while at bacterium Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi does not provide inhibition zone. Methanol extract does not provide inhibition zone towards bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli. The result of reagent test indicated compound that detected in n-hexane extract is saponins

Abstract

Allah berfirman dalam al Qur’an Surat al Ma’idah ayat 88 yang menjelaskan tentang anjuran makanan Halalan Thayyiban. Permen merupakan makanan yang banyak digemari oleh semua kalangan. Dalam permen berkemasan dapat mengandung timbal (Pb) dikarenakan oleh beberapa faktor; diantaranya adalah faktor bahan baku pembuatan permen yang telah mengandung timbal (Pb), faktor media produksi permen yang berbasis logam dengan proses pemanasan, faktor kemasan permen yang mengandung timbal (Pb); serta faktor zat aditif dalam permen.Penelitian ini meliputi penentuan variasi larutan pendestruksi terbaik antara HNO3 p.a. (30 mL); HNO3 : H2SO4 (30 mL) perbandingan 3:1 serta HNO3 : H2SO4 : H2O2 (30 mL) perbandingan 3:2:1 lalu dilanjutkan dengan uji One Way Annova. Penentuan waktu kestabilan logam terbaik dalam sampel larutan pada hari ke-0; 1; 3; 7 dan hari ke-15. Penentuan kadar timbal (Pb) pada masing-masing sampel hard candy dan uji kesesuaian kadar dengan SNI hard candy.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada variasi larutan pendestruksi terbaik adalah HNO3 dan H2SO4 (3:1) dengan nilai rerata konsentrasi yang paling tinggi yaitu 21,35 mg/kg. Hasil Uji Annova adalah F hitung (10215) F tabel (5,14) yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang siginifikan antara ketiga variasi larutan pendestruksi. Waktu kestabilan diperoleh berdasarkan Uji Annova pada hari ke-3 menuju hari ke-7 dengan hipotesis Ho-nya diterima dengan F hitung (0,455) F tabel (7,71). Kadar timbal (Pb) yang ditemukan pada kelima sampel permen berkisar antara 25,3 mg/kg hingga 26,8 mg/kg. Berdasarkan acuan Sandar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) No. 3547.1:2008 bahwa kelima sampel permen tersebut tidak layak untuk dikonsumsi karena melebihi nilai ambang batas maksimum cemaran logam timbal (Pb) yaitu 2,0 mg/kg.
