Abstract

This study examines the lived experiences of Filipino breadwinners through the cultural lens of utang na loob (debt of gratitude), a core Filipino value signifying moral obligation and reciprocity. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study explores how utang na loob influences the emotional, financial, and psychological well-being of Filipino breadwinners. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight participants who identified as primary family providers. Findings reveal that breadwinners grapple with feelings of guilt, perpetual responsibility, and emotional exhaustion as they navigate the tensions between familial expectations and personal aspirations. Themes such as financial strain, intergenerational obligations, and the cycle of utang na loob highlight the dualities of pride and burden inherent in fulfilling familial roles. The study underscores the need to reassess familial expectations and support systems to balance individual well-being with familial obligations.

Abstract

: Juvenile delinquency is behavior carried out by young children due to social neglect so that deviant behavior is formed. Delinquency does not appear without factors influencing it, one of which is when adolescents conform to their peers. The influence of peer conformity on juvenile delinquency is weakened when adolescents have emotional intelligence. By having emotional intelligence, adolescents can express their emotions appropriately and have adaptive emotional regulation. The purpose of this study was to find out whether emotional intelligence can moderate the influence of peer conformity on juvenile delinquency. This study is quantitative with research subjects of as many as 350 adolescents. Measurement using Self Report Delinquency (SRD), Peer Conformity Disposition Scale (PCSD), and Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS) instruments. Data analysis using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results showed that emotional intelligence did not act as a moderator on the influence of peer conformity on juvenile delinquency (β=0.558; p=0.081).

Abstract

Globalization and rapid flow of information have profoundly impacted various aspects of life, including mental health. Amid social pressures and the demands of modern life, many individuals are experiencing a decline in authentic happiness (Clark Senik, 2011). One consequence of this is an increased reliance on counselors or professional help as the primary solution to address psychological issues. While this reliance may be helpful in the short term, it can hinder emotional independence and reduce an individual's ability to build psychological resilience on their own. Therefore, an alternative approach is needed that can strengthen mental well-being in a holistic and sustainable manner. This study aims to explore the effects of intelligence exercises on enhancing authentic happiness among individuals who have completed counseling. Using a one-group pretest-posttest design, this study examined seven counseling participants from UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang who voluntarily completed the intelligence exercise intervention. The measurement tool used was the Authentic Happiness Scale, adapted from (R. Sherlywati, 2015) research. Data analysis was conducted using nonparametric tests with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test to assess significant changes in authentic happiness scores between the pretest and posttest measurements. The results showed an increase in authentic happiness scores after participants underwent the intelligence exercise program, with an average pretest score of 324.8571 and a posttest score of 338.7143 (p 0.05). The effect size calculation using Cohen's d yielded a value of 0.83 (large category). Through observation and interviews, positive changes were also detected in the subjects, including increased energy levels, reduced anxiety symptoms, and enhanced feelings of greater calmness and happiness. Islamic studies and biopsychological research also indicate that intelligence exercises, as a form of body and mind therapy, align with Islamic principles regarding the balance of soul and body. Intelligence exercises have significant effectiveness in enhancing authentic happiness. The practical implications of this study are that intelligence exercises can be widely applied in various settings, such as schools, workplaces, and communities, as a mental health promotion program. Additionally, this approach can reduce individuals' reliance on conventional therapy and encourage the development of emotional independence and sustainable psychological well-being. From a theoretical perspective, this research reinforces the importance of interventions based on physical and cognitive activities within a biopsychological framework and opens opportunities for integration with local or religious values, such as the Islamic perspective.Keywords: Intelligence Exercises; Authentic Happiness; Psychology; Biopsychology; Islam; Non-Parametric Testing

Abstract

Future anxiety can reduce quality of life, affecting happiness, satisfaction, and reaching goals. Constant worry can make it hard to enjoy daily life and may lead to stress, depression, and poor physical health. This study aims to examine the influence of self-efficacy, husnuzan, and social support on the future anxiety of students. This study used a quantitative approach cross-sectionally with multiple regression analysis. The sample consisted of 204 students (M=20.69, SD=1.21, female=149, male=55 )at State Islamic University Jakarta selected using accidental sampling.  Instruments used in this study were the Future Anxiety Scale, NGSE Scale, Husnuzan Scale, and social support scale developed according to Sarafino (2011). Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to test the construct validity of the instruments. Self-efficacy (β =  0.209, p 0.000) and husnuzan towards Allah (β = 0.486, p 0.000) have been proven to be significant protective factors for future anxiety among students with R2=0.398 (F(7,196)=18.5, p0.000). These findings suggest that students should develop strategies to increase their self-efficacy and encourage a husnuzan attitude towards Allah.

Abstract

The importance of wellbeing in the workplace is to promote wellness within the organization and to protect individuals' wellbeing. The study interviewed three wellbeing coaches, selected based on their professional licenses, and extensive field experience in coaching, with at least two years of counseling practice. Purposive sampling was employed to improve data accuracy and relevance selecting experienced individuals to ensure valuable perspectives. Using deductive thematic analysis, Filipino wellbeing coaches present their experiences, and the study used four predetermined key themes following the (ICF) Core Competencies Model which includes foundation, co-creating the relationship, communicating effectively, and cultivating learning and growth. In addition, the key themes were supported by eight sub-themes from the same model. The study discovered that wellbeing coaches provide psychological wellness strategies, implement interventions that integrate various tools and approaches to meet client needs while adhering to ethical practices, and provide continuous individual support which can substantially strengthen organizational efficacy. Wrike (2024) mentioned that organizational development interventions help to improve efficiency and boost employee engagement and satisfaction. Personalized support plans can be created, which may increase engagement, foster a strong culture, and promote innovation. In addition, integrating mental health and wellbeing programs, such as counseling services, stress management workshops, and wellness initiatives, benefits employees' mental health, resulting in increased resiliency. Future studies should include longitudinal studies to evaluate the long-term impact of personalized support plans and diverse tools on employee performance and organizational outcomes. Comparative analysis of different instruments and approaches can provide insights into which methods are most effective.

Abstract

Abstract: Amid demands for high productivity in the digital economy, many workers experience a decline in the quality of family relationships and personal well-being. This study raises the phenomenon of the productivity paradox, which is a condition in which increased work efficiency triggers household stress and conflict. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the productivity paradox and self-awareness on family harmony in industrial and startup sector workers in the Java region. A quantitative method was used involving 200 respondents, and the analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results showed that both (1) the productivity paradox (B = 0.285; p 0.001) and self-awareness (B = 0.578; p 0.001) had a significant effect on family harmony, with the contribution of self-awareness being more dominant. (2) The Adjusted R² value of 0.677 indicates that both variables explain 67.7% of the variation in family harmony. (3) These results confirm that healthy productivity management and strengthening self-awareness are key to creating a harmonious family amidst complex work pressures. This study provides practical and theoretical contributions in the development of work-family balance policies and self-awareness-based psychological interventions.Keywords: Productivity Paradox; Self-awareness; Family Harmony; Work Stress; Life Balance

Abstract

The study investigated the influence of school climate and prosocial behavior on bullying tendencies among junior high school students in Sorong City. A total of 370 participants were selected using cluster random sampling. The research applied a quantitative correlational approach, and data were analyzed using multiple regression techniques. Results from the coefficient of determination test revealed that school climate and prosocial behavior collectively explained 35.9% of the variance in bullying tendency (R² = 0.359). The F-test showed a significant joint effect of the two independent variables on bullying tendency (F = 102.589, p 0.01), indicating a strong overall model fit. Partial regression analysis (t-test) further confirmed that both predictors significantly influenced bullying tendency. School climate (β = –0.510, p 0.01) and prosocial behavior (β = –0.196, p 0.01) negatively and significantly predicted bullying behavior. These results suggest that students who perceive a more positive school environment and demonstrate higher levels of prosocial behavior tend to exhibit lower levels of bullying. The findings support the importance of fostering positive social environments and enhancing prosocial values in school-based interventions to effectively reduce bullying behavior.

Abstract

While extensive literature exists on offensive realism and state behaviour, a significant gap remains in understanding how cognitive biases and cultural narratives intersect with structural incentives to shape the course of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. This study introduces a cognitive-cultural offensive realism framework and employs a mixed methods approach, combining discourse analysis, historical process tracing, and game-theoretical modelling, to reveal that Russian strategic decision-making is shaped by material calculations or security dilemmas, and the institutionalisation of historical memory, the operationalisation of psychological predispositions, and the mobilisation of cultural myths in elite discourse. The annexation of Crimea and the escalation in 2022 illustrate how overconfidence, loss aversion, and collective identity narratives can override rationalist expectations, embedding psychological contestation within foreign policy logic. In contrast, Ukrainian resistance and Western responses demonstrate alternative pathways, as each actor recalibrates deterrence, escalation, and alliance-building strategies in response to shifting perceptions of threat and opportunity. Comparative findings demonstrate that the persistence of entrenched narratives and psychological frames in Russian policy has led to recurring miscalculations and fragmented adaptation, rather than seamless strategic coherence, as leaders navigate tensions between historical legitimacy, security imperatives, and evolving international norms. This research identifies three interrelated dynamics: path dependencies sustaining cognitive-cultural patterns in Russian strategic thought; integration of psychological and cultural factors into hybrid warfare; and the complexity of international responses as external actors grapple with unpredictable consequences of identity-driven statecraft. The study’s multi-method design advances theoretical understanding and offers practical insights for policymakers addressing the complex realities of contemporary conflict.

Abstract

Abstract: Employees are individuals who work as part of an organization or company. Mental health and spirituality are two important dimensions in an individual's life, especially in the context of a work environment that often creates demands and pressures. This study aims to explore mental health and spirituality in Bank employees. This study uses qualitative methods with observation and interview techniques. Research participants consisted of five employees consisting of Office Boy (OB), Security Guard, Customer Service, Insurance Service, and Marketing Admin. The results showed that the majority of Bank employees had a fairly good level of mental health, marked by a good level of psychological well-being. However, some employees also experience psychological distress, especially related to high job demands. For example, employees have experienced stress when there are demands to work on reports in a short time or when a customer complains. Overall, the level of employee spirituality is also quite good, with many employees reporting positive spiritual practices in their daily lives. This research provides insight into the mental health and spirituality of employees at Bank, and is expected to be the basis for developing more holistic employee welfare programs in this company. Abstract

The study explores Filipino Generation Z’s emotional vulnerability in the workplace. The study focuses on their experiences, thoughts, and feelings about being emotionally vulnerable, sensitive, and self-aware in the workplace. In sharing their stories, five participants born between 2000–2006 were able to explain their personal, positional, and ideological understanding of emotional vulnerability in the workplace. Generation Z employees’ narratives cover three chapters: beginning - first experience of emotional vulnerability in the workplace; middle: dealing with emotional vulnerability in the workplace; and end reflection on emotional vulnerability in the workplace. The study identified the nine (9) themes that defined the participant’s collated experiences: (1) experience of emotional distress from conflict and lack of support in the workplace; (2) experience of enduring emotional distress with professionalism and patience; (3) experience of coping with emotional distress and finding emotional balance; (4) perceived role as a learner navigating workplace dynamics; (5) perceived role as disregarded voice and vulnerable professional; (6) perceived role as advocates for employee support and well-being; (7) the value of emotional awareness and adaptability; (8) the value of professionalism; and (9) the value of sensitivity. Generation Z employees collectively advocate the importance of creating emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and sensitivity-promoting environments in the workplace.
