Abstract

The majority of children’s well-being measurement is often rooted in Western culture in developed countries. Therefore, along with the increase of public awareness of children’s well-being in Surabaya, Indonesia, appropriate tools to measure it is greatly needed. The main objective of this study was to develop a valid and reliable instrument assessing the well-being levels of Indonesian children aged 11-15 years in Surabaya. The steps in scale development were carried out in four major phases. The first phase was the item generation and construction of the draft of the Children’s Well-being Scale (CWBS). Information from literature review and focus group discussions were used to generate the initial form (120 items) which were subjected to content validation by experts. In the second phase,a total of 294 participants completed the preliminary form of the instrument. Then, Cronbach’s Alpha(a=.91) and item-total correlation were done in the Preliminary form indicating that the instrument was internally consistent. In third phase, an additional 288 participants took the final form of CWBS. With this new sample, the CWBS were still internally consistent (a=.90). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the pre-hypothesized12 factor structure.Construct validity was assessed through analysis of correlations with three standardized tests: Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (r=.65), Personal Well-being Index-School Children (r=.61), and Revised Children Anxiety and Depression Scale-Short version (r=-.70).The CWBS were administered to a large group (N=708) for the norming of the test. Considering the result of the analysis of CWBSthat the 48 items had satisfying psychometric properties, it can be concluded that CWBS are valid and reliable instruments for Indonesian children.

The data were obtained from www.idx.co.id, Annual Financial Statements. The analysis tool used in this research was Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the formula TA = P0 + P1SIZE + P2LEV + P3ROA + P4SIZE * KIns + P5SIZE * KI + P6SIZE * KA + e) and SPSS 18.00 program. Data collection techniques used were descriptive statistics, classical assumption test, multicollonierity test, heteroscedasticity test, autocorrelation test, MRA. The result of this study showed that the firm size had negative effect on the aggressive tax avoidance, while the corporate governance in this case INST, KI moderated the size of the company against aggressive tax avoidance, and  moderation variables could not moderate firm size with aggressive tax avoidance.

Abstract

Hiperlipidemia refers to heightening levels of lipid in the blood. Hyperlipidemia relates closely to the change of HDL levels and the heightening of LDL levels. One of the ingredient to decrease the cholesterol levels in the blood is Syzgiumpolyanthum. The research was aimed to find out the effects of Syzgiumpolyanthum’s boiled water therapy on hiperlidemia, viewed from the levels of HDL and LDL.The research was using 12 male mice ( Mus muschulus L). Mice were divided in four groups. Ovulation inductions were applied for 7 daysto make hyperlipidemia mice model. Therapies were done for 7 days using Syzgiumpolyanthum’s boiled water 2,7ml  and 5,4 ml dosage. One Way AnalisisOf Variance (ANOVA) were employed in the research with Duncan’s advance test for LDL and HDL levels. The results showed that Syzgiumpolyanthum’s boiled water had significant effect to decrease  the levels of LDL and to increase the levels of HDL in hiperlipidemia of  mice (Musmusculus L).

Abstract

The study aimed to: (1) test and analyze the learning completenesst of student’s mathematical problem solving ability in PBL, (2) know student’s mathematical problem solving ability in PBL more than student’s mathematical problem solving ability in conventional learning, and (3) know the improvement of student’s mathematical problem solving ability  in PBL. The research design was quasi experimental with nonrandomized control group, pretest-postest design. The population of this study were all of students of SMA Negeri 1 Gondang (Senior High School) sitting in the 10th grade. The sampling technique was purposive sampling; selected XH were as a control group and XA as experimental group. The data were obtained with the test method. Sample groups were pretested and posted with the same instruments. The conclusions are: (1) the mathematical problem solving ability of the students in PBL reaches completeness  (87.5%) with a return limit of 75%; (2) student's mathematical problem solving ability in PBL (average 75.39) is better tthan student’s mathematical problem solving ability in conventional learning (average 69.62); and (3) student’s mathematical problem solving ability in PBL increases by 0.67 (medium).
