Abstract

The use of bait in fishing operation attached to a fishing gear has function to attract or stimulate fish, so as to increase the fishing effectiveness. Study on catching effectiveness of grouper with basket pot by using artificial bait is urgently needed. The objectives of this study were to analysis soaking time of the artificial bait that effectively to attract grouper and to measure the effectiveness of the artificial baits to catch grouper by using basket pot. The fishing experiment methods were used in this study. The use of the artificial bait in different soaking time (day and night) has not significantly different to the grouper catch. The use of natural bait (shrimp and trash fish), however was more effective than the artificial bait to catch grouper. Keywords: artificial bait, Effectiveness, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus, basket pot

Abstract

Abstract

Stock status of Yellowfin tuna in Indian Ocean on southern water of East Java currently is predicted undergoing overfishing or close to overfishing which is very alarming from sustainability context. A research has been done on Yellowfin tuna fisheries sustainability based on ecology, economy, technology, social and institutional dimensions. Collected data are analyzed using RAPFISH (multidimensional scaling/MDS, leverage analysis, monte carlo analysis), and comparison pairwess analysis to asses multidimensional sustainability of Yellowfin fisheries.Research result shows that Rapfish index for ecological sustainability is 57.83%, whereas economical, technological, social and institutional sustainability are consecutively: 68.14%, 98.03%, 44.89% and 47.88%.  Multidimensional sustainability status assessment result show sustainability index 64.54 %, or Fairly Sustainable. Of those dimensions, social and institutional dimension have the lowest proportion in Yellowfin fisheries in Indian Ocean economic exclusive  zone (EEZ) they are 7.63% and 4.24 %. Keywords: yellowfin tuna, sustainability, EEZ, Rapfish

Abstract

The determination of superior commodities is needed for figuring out which ones are superior commodities and which ones are not. The superior commodities are expected to give greater profit than the other commodities. This study therefore aims to figure out the superior fisheries commodities which give contributions to the economy of Rembang regency. The method used in this study is descriptive. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling. The data analysis instruments which were used are Location Quotient (LQ), Analysis of Shift Share (ASS), Specialization Analysis (SI), and Analitical Hierarchy Process (AHP). From the result of study it can be concluded that the superior fisheries commodities of Rembang regency which become the best products are scad (Decapterus russeli), yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis), and mackerel (Rastrellinger sp). The main factor which determines how those fish belong to superior commodities or not are the AHP analysis, that is, the adequacy of supply. The sub-sector of catch fisheries in Rembang regency has the LQ score of 5,05 in 2009. It shows that the sub-sector of catch fisheries is the basic sector which is very influencing the contribution of the economy in Rembang regency.  Key words: Superior Commodities, Fisheries, Analitical Hierarchy Process, Rembang Regency.

Abstract

Type shrimp fishermen in Tarakan in category Discard the shrimp Nenek (Harpiosquilla raphidea).  Results of interviews with fishermen Juata Tarakan city, saying that this type of shrimp is a type of shrimp discard or catches that do not have a high economic value and if this shrimp caught by the fishermen of this type in the return to nature/ocean.  This is different the opinion from Firdaus and Salim (2013) that the results of the study to test proteins from different species of shrimp nenek (Harpiosquilla raphidea) protein values obtained meat for shrimp nenek (Harpiosquilla raphidea) that is equal to 16.49%.  The purpose of research is to investigate the growth of morphometry Harpiosquilla Raphidea (correlation relationship between body weight and carapace with correlation relationship between body length and body weight). Methods of research used descriptive method.  Shrimp Nenek sampling using sampling in the waters juata based on catches of fishermen juata Tarakan city.  Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling as much as 6 times with the consideration that the sampling 6 times expected to represent the population of shrimp Nenek in the waters Juata Tarakan City.  Sampling was carried out during low tide situation.  The main variables measured in this study is the morphology shrimp Nenek is carapace (carapace and long thick carapas), shrimp body length (total length and standard length) and the shrimp body weight (total weight and dry weight / meat). The variables measured were supporting habitat conditions / environment of shrimp Nenek in the waters Juata Tarakan city.  Data analysis using regression equation is the relationship between the length (body length and carapace length) with body weight (total weight and meat weight) shrimp Nenek. The results showed an average of the data research on the relationship between total length with a total weight of shrimp Nenek allometri had negative growth and a very strong relationship. The results showed an average of research data on the relationship of carapace length with a weight meat of shrimp Nenek had allometri negative growth and a very strong relationship. Abstract

Abstract

Many factors to the effect of water productivity content like physical, chemical and biological.  The basic of water productivity is how to make synthesis inorganic material to organic or photosynthesis process.  Processed can make happen because of chlorophyll on algae especially phytoplanktons. The purpose of this research was to analyse primary productivity Amal water Tarakan city of North Borneo to sea weed development in 2016.  The basic information can make manage it to continued seaweed aquaculture. The research methods were used GIS integration with ecology analyse in-situ and ek-situ combination.  The research and analyse showed physical and chemical water still good average for seaweed live.   The analyse chlorophyll a and primary productivity was moderate for seaweed aquaculture development. Key Words: Primary Productivity, Seaweed Aquaculture, Tarakan
