Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) is one of the promising candidates which are efficient, low-cost, and clean hybrid molecular solar cell devices. Zinc oxide (ZnO) has been widely used as the phoanode in DSSC due to its excellent charge conduction mechanism, yet still suffers from poor cell efficiency. In this study, aluminium doped ZnO (ZnO:Al) and Ni doped ZnO (ZnO:Ni) were studied as photoanode material in DSSC using solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS) simulation, and the electrolyte liquid considered a single solid p-type layer as hole transporting materials. Both studied photoanodes have demonstrated better cell performance than pure ZnO photoanode due to the small amount of aluminium (Al) and nikel (Ni) impurities added have enhanced the physiochemical properties of ZnO films. A power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.96% was obtained at 3 mol% ZnO:Al photoanode with optimized key parameters. These simulation results proved an opportunity to improve the performance of the DSSCs via doping engineering into the ZnO photonaode.

Abstract

User interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design is fundamental to the stickiness of any application. Food delivery is no exception. With the food delivery business sector on the rise during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, it is necessary for any newcomers in the market to at least match the must-have feature lists of the major players. However, Robinhood, despite having a niche in societal responsibility, is still a food delivery app that is found to lack some of the features that, in the past few months, due to the fierce competition within the food delivery space, moved down from a delighter to a must-have. In this paper, we show, through iterations of qualitative interviews, the proposed solutions consisting of features and future roadmap along with the general context of why each implementation was selected in each sprint. Through all these experiments, we learned not to go against the natural reading pattern of reading from left to right, the z pattern in the visual hierarchy, the users’ familiarity with buttons placement due to loaded external factors, and how introducing too many new features may negatively impact the usability test score.

Abstract

Voltage dips are brief but frequent disturbances that can be defined as the most important problem affecting all electrical grids, it cannot be completely avoided and represent the main priority for the industry. This study remains part of monitoring the quality of electrical energy’s field. Its aim is to apply two approaches signals for improving the failure recognition in wind turbine conversion chain. One is based on the combination of spectral analysis of stator current by fast Fourier transform and Lissajous curves technique of grid currents. The second approach is based on the stator current analysis by discrete wavelet transform which is considered an ideal tool for this purpose due to its time-frequency localization. These defects diagnosis methods have shown their efficiency in detection, visualization and analysis of voltage dips in order to develop a control strategy for a wind turbine requiring continuity of its service despite the presence of voltage dips.

Abstract

Doctors and pathologists have long been concerned about determining the malignancy from cell images. This task is laborious, time-consuming and needs expertise. Due to this reason, automated systems assist pathologists in providing a second opinion to arrive at accurate decision based on cytology images. The classification of cytology images has always been a difficult challenge among the various image analysis approaches due to its extreme intricacy. The thrust for early diagnosis of cervical cancer has always fuelled the research in medical image analysis for cancer detection. In this paper, an investigative study for the classification of cytology images is proposed. The proposed study uses the discrete coefficient transform (DCT) coefficient and Haar transform coefficients as features. These features are given as a input to seven different machine learning algorithms for normal and abnormal pap smear images classification. In order to optimize the feature size, fractional coefficients are used to form the five different sizes of feature vectors. In the proposed work, DCT transform has given the highest classification accuracy of 81.11%. Comparing the different machine learning algorithms the overall best performance is given by the random forest classifier.

Abstract

This research paper investigates the novel triple remote phosphor layer for improving the remote phosphor’s angular chroma uniformity (ACU) of down-light lamps by using remote micro-patterned phosphor layers (RMPP). In addition, introducing the triple-layer (TL) RMPP is introduced to offer the potential approach to this objective. This analysis also measures the optical efficiency of the layers and the angle distribution of angular correlated color temperature (ACCT). Drawing a comparison between the traditional dual-layer (DL) RMPP and the proposed TL is furthermore critical to this study. According to the findings, the triple-layer phosphor configuration can achieve greater hue consistency while having a correlating colour temperature (CCT) variance merely measured at 441 K. Results in the single RMPP layer are 1390 K of the remote phosphor (RP) sheet setting and 556 K for the ACCT deviation. The recreation employing finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) as well as the approach of ray-tracing ensures an increase in angular color uniformity (ACU). The structure of DL and TL RMPPs results in a 6.68 % and 4.69 % gain in luminous efficiency, respectively, with the standard RMPP layer at a currently driving of 350 mA. The micro-patterned layer’s scattering characteristic and mixing effect may account for the increased ACU and luminous efficiency.

Abstract

In this work, high-speed transmission over the long-haul optical channel using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) was investigated. Furthermore, we recommend mixing polarization division multiplexing (PDM) with coherent OFDM (CO-OFDM) and quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) to improve spectral efficiency (SE) while transmitting over a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system. An 800 Gb/s WDM PDM-CO-OFDM-16QAM transmission system with various channel spacing of 100 GHz, 50 GHz, and 25 GHz is examined utilizing the OptiSystem (2021) version 18.0 software package over ten spans of 60 km standard single-mode fiber (SSMF). Different channel spacing WDM systems have been compared in terms of performance and SE. The results reveal that the WDM system with 100 GHz channel spacing has a longer transmission range and needs minimal optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) at the reception. The 25 GHz channel spacing WDM system exceeds the others in terms of SE. Further, the effect of ultra-low loss and large effective area fiber in lowering span loss and nonlinear effects for 25 GHz channel spacing WDM system is investigated. The findings show that the system performance with the new fiber outperforms the SSMF. The acceptable bit error rate (BER) for this study is 0.033 (20% concatenated forward error correction (FEC) threshold).

Abstract

E-CityFarm is an electronic system that can control the parameters needed to grow fish and plants integratedly. It can control temperature, water acidity, and utilizing the neural network method able to count the number and length of fishes also their weight. The weight will be directly proportional to the need for feed. In E-CityFarm, various variables are processed by multitasking, therefore real time operating system (RTOS) is used. RTOS has several advantages in terms of: concurrency, pre-emption, capacity, flash size, synchronization tools, third party software, and convenience. RTOS is real time where in the execution process it will work in parallel for all existing processes according to the time specified. E-CityFarm implements RTOS to improve and maintain the quality of system measurement accuracy, which is expected to help users maintain product quality. In several experiments, the measurement results still have deviations compared to conventional measurements, deviations in measurements for: temperature 0.46%, light intensity 1.935%, 4.93% (3 levels) and weight control 1.995% (98.005% accuracy). Within 14 months the growth of fish and plants seemed to be very controlled, fish and plants grew well, thus E-CityFarm is a feasible system to be developed in areas that have limited land and water.

Abstract

Latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) is an important probabilistic generative model and has usually used in many domains such as text mining, retrieving information, or natural language processing domains. The posterior inference is the important problem in deciding the quality of the LDA model, but it is usually non-deterministic polynomial (NP)-hard and often intractable, especially in the worst case. For individual texts, some proposed methods such as variational Bayesian (VB), collapsed variational Bayesian (CVB), collapsed Gibb’s sampling (CGS), and online maximum a posteriori estimation (OPE) to avoid solving this problem directly, but they usually do not have any guarantee of convergence rate or quality of learned models excepting variants of OPE. Based on OPE and using the Bernoulli distribution combined, we design an algorithm namely general online maximum a posteriori estimation using two stochastic bounds (GOPE2) for solving the posterior inference problem in LDA model. It also is the NP-hard non-convex optimization problem. Via proof of theory and experimental results on the large datasets, we realize that GOPE2 is performed to develop the efficient method for learning topic models from big text collections especially massive/streaming texts, and more efficient than previous methods.

Abstract

Given that electronic filing is one of the earliest e-government services in Indonesia, additional research is needed to determine the antecedents of service users’ perceived net benefit. The e-government system success model by DeLone and McLean was used in this study, however trust factors were added to the government, technology, and e-government websites as antecedents. 195 individual taxpayers were sent a questionnaire including 39 statements as part of the study examination. Data were analyzed using structural equation model-partial least square (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of WarpPLS. This study concludes that these three antecedents determine the success of the e-government system, and thus that e-government development is the integration of trust in government, which is built by increasing its credibility in the eyes of the public, trust in technology, which can be accomplished through education, and trust in e-government websites, which can be accomplished by consistently improving the security and quality of government website services.

Abstract

Semantic extraction for images is an urgent problem and is applied in many different semantic retrieval systems. In this paper, a semantic-based image retrieval (SBIR) system is proposed based on the combination of growth partitioning tree (GP-Tree), which was built in the authors’ previous work, with a self-organizing map (SOM) network and neighbor graph (called SgGP-Tree) to improve accuracy. For each query image, a similar set of images is retrieved on the SgGP-Tree, and a set of visual words is extracted relying on the classes obtained from mask region-based convolutional neural networks (R-CNN), as the basis for querying semantic of input images on ontology by simple protocol and resource description framework query language (SPARQL) query. The experiment was performed on image datasets, such as ImageCLEF and MS-COCO, with precision values of 0.898453 and 0.875467, respectively. These results are compared with related works on the same image dataset, showing the effectiveness of the methods proposed.
