Abstract

Ubiquitous technologies based heterogeneous networks has opened a new paradigm of technologies, which are enabled with various different objects called Internet of things (IoT). This field opens new door for innovative and advance patterns with considerable potential advantages in the shape of plethora of monitoring and infotainment applications around us. Data communication is one of the significant area of research in IoT due to its diverse network topologies, where diverse gadgets and devices have integrated and connected with each other. In order to communicate among devices and users, routing should be relible, secure and efficient. Due to diverse and hetrogenous netwok environment, the most of the existing routing solutions do not provide all quality of services requirement in the network. In this paper, we discuss the existing routing trend in IoT, vision and current challenges. This paper also elaborates the technologies and domains to drive this field for future perspectives. The paper concludes with discussion and main points for new researchers in terms of routing to understand about current situation in IoT.

Abstract

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) has been utilized as a nanofiller in polymeric insulation due to its good characteristics in both electrical insulation and thermal conduction properties. In this work, a comparative study was performed between unfilled polyethylene and polyethylene containing different amounts of Si3N4 nanofiller. The study showed that the low density polyethylene (LDPE) added with 15 wt% of Si3N4nanofiller could have higher breakdown strength compared to equivalent LDPE with 10 wt% of Si3N4nanofiller. Morphological characterizations of the nanocomposite samples were performed using field emission electron microscopy (FESEM) and the results showed that the breakdown performance of the investigated materials were affected by the agglomeration of Si3N4 nanoparticles.

Abstract

The two main aims of deploying multiple input multiple out (MIMO) are to achieve spatial diversity (improves channel reliability) and spatial multiplexing (increase data throughput). Achieving both in a given system is impossible for now, and a trade-off has to be reached as they may be conflicting objectives. The basic concept of multiplexing: divide (multiplex) transmit a data stream several branches and transmit via several (independent) channels. In this paper, we focused mainly on achieving spatial multiplexing by modeling the channel using the diagonal Bell Labs space time scheme (D-BLAST) and the vertical Bell Labs space time architecture (V-BLAST) Matlab simulations results were a lso given to further compare the advantages of spatial multiplexing.

Abstract

Prediction of meteorological variables such as precipitation, temperature, wind speed, and solar radiation is beneficial for human life. The variable observations data is available from time to time for more than thirty years, scattered each observation station makes the opportunity to map patterns into predictions. However, the complexity of weather variables is very high, one of which is influenced by Decadal phenomena such as El-Nino Southern Oscillation and IOD. Weather predictions can be reviewed for the duration, prediction variables, and observation stations. This research proposed precipitation prediction using recurrent neural networks and long short-term memory. Experiments were carried out using the prediction duration factor, the period as a feature and the amount of data set used, and the optimization model. The results showed that the time-lapse as a shorter feature gives good accuracy. Also, the duration of weekly predictions provides more accuracy than monthly, which is 85.71% compared to 83.33% of the validation data.

Abstract

The rapid development of deep learning improves the detection and classification of attacks on intrusion detection systems. However, the unbalanced data issue increases the complexity of the architecture model. This study proposes a novel deep learning model to overcome the problem of classifying multi-class attacks. The deep learning model consists of two stages. The pre-tuning stage uses automatic feature extraction with a deep autoencoder. The second stage is fine-tuning using deep neural network classifiers with fully connected layers. To reduce imbalanced class data, the feature extraction was implemented using the deep autoencoder and improved focal loss function in the classifier. The model was evaluated using 3 loss functions, including cross-entropy, weighted cross-entropy, and focal losses. The results could correct the class imbalance in deep learning-based classifications. Attack classification was achieved using automatic extraction with the focal loss on the CSE-CIC-IDS2018 dataset is a high-quality classifier with 98.38% precision, 98.27% sensitivity, and 99.82% specificity.

Abstract

When using wireless sensor networks for real-time data transmission, some critical points should be considered. Restricted computational power, reduced memory, narrow bandwidth and energy supplied present strong limits in sensor nodes. Therefore, maximizing network lifetime and minimizing energy consumption are always optimization goals. To overcome the computation and energy limitation of individual sensor nodes during image transmission, an energy efficient image transport scheme is proposed, taking advantage of JPEG2000 still image compression standard using MATLAB and C from Jasper. JPEG2000 provides a practical set of features, not necessarily available in the previous standards. These features were achieved using techniques: the discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and embedded block coding with optimized truncation (EBCOT). Performance of the proposed image transport scheme is investigated with respect to image quality and energy consumption. Simulation results are presented and show that the proposed scheme optimizes network lifetime and reduces significantly the amount of required memory by analyzing the functional influence of each parameter of this distributed image compression algorithm.

Abstract

This study examines the input factors that were reputed theoretically affecting the information system (IS) project success in term of the processional and causal perspectives. Adopting three of the four dimensions from the McLeod and MacDonell’s (M&M’s) classification project framework dimensions, the study is initiated by inviting the internal project stakeholders in a sampled institution. A stratified sampling then identified 130 people who experienced in the projects as the sample, contacted 90 of the samples via e-mail and  distributed the paper-based questionnaire into 40 certain people especially who are on the managerial level. A number of 62 (48%) valid responses, then were analyzed using the partial least squares-structural equation modeling  (PLS-SEM) software, i.e. SmartPLS. The significances of the whole path coefficients, the acceptances of the overall hypotheses, the relevances of the three predictors relevances, and the moderate coefficient determination of the IS project success variable may present acceptability of the proposed model for the subsequent studies.

Abstract

Journal articles are required all researchers as references to improve the quality of research so that the results are better than existing studies. The presence of many journal indexers that collect articles from many publishers and repositories are very helpful to lecturers and researchers to locate articles in their specific areas of interest. The main issues in the indexing include: (i) the selection and collection process articles data, (ii) the management of indexing based on source and relevance of science (iii) the accuracy and speed of the search process, and (iv) the relationship between the articles each other called citation. The desirable by readers from the indexer is to get relevant and good-quality articles easily and accurately. While the interest of the journal managers is to supply their article which reader preferred then hope many cited to their journals. This is where the position of an indexer to bridge publisher and reader. This paper presents the architecture of Indonesian Publications Index (IPI) as the bridge. This architecture is designed with three layers. The layers are the data collection layer, storage layer, and service layer. The functionality of the first layer is IPI collaboration with publishers, the second layer is the index management system, the third layer is a service to the readers. Service layer built on a variety of applications such as web based applications, mobile applications and e-library.

Abstract

This paper proposes an alternative approach to face recognition algorithm that is based on global/holistic features of face image and simplified linear discriminant analysis (LDA). The proposed method can overcome main problems of the conventional LDA in terms of large processing time for retraining when a new class data is registered into the training data set. The holistic features of face image are proposed as dimensional reduction of raw face image. While, the simplified LDA which is the redefinition of between class scatter using constant global mean assignment is proposed to decrease time complexity of retraining process. To know the performance of the proposed method, several experiments were performed using several challenging face databases: ORL, YALE, ITS-Lab, INDIA, and FERET database. Furthermore, we compared the developed algorithm experimental results to the best traditional subspace methods such as DLDA, 2DLDA, (2D)2DLDA, 2DPCA, and (2D)22DPCA. The experimental results show that the proposed method can be solve the retraining problem of the conventional LDA indicated by requiring shorted retraining time and stable recognition rate.

Abstract

The main function of power network is used to deliver electrical energy to meet energy needs. Although this grid has opportunity to use as line transmission that it was only for analog communication and telemetry originally. In the development of research and technology, this network can be used for digital data communications at speeds high enough. In this study conducted a test of feasibility analysis, especially in the use of electricity for the internet data communication. The low voltage electricity network is used in this research. Results from this study, among the tested electrical network on the short distance of less than 400 meters can be used for data communication with the media either. However, if it is used for a more remote distance, the quality will decrease. The real distance depends to the testing equipment and quality of electricity.
