Abstract

Cognitive radio is a smart radio that can change its transmitter parameter based on interaction with the environment in which it operates. The demand for frequency spectrum is growing due to a big data issue as many Internet of Things (IoT) devices are in the network. Based on previous research, most frequency spectrum was used, but some spectrums were not used, called spectrum hole. Energy detection is one of the spectrum sensing methods that has been frequently used since it is easy to use and does not require license users to have any prior signal understanding. But this technique is incapable of detecting at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels. Therefore, the wavelet-based sensing is proposed to overcome this issue and detect spectrum holes. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the performance of wavelet-based sensing and compare it with the energy detection technique. The findings show that the percentage of detection in wavelet-based sensing is 83% higher than energy detection performance. This result indicates that the wavelet-based sensing has higher precision in detection and the interference towards primary user can be decreased.

Abstract

In this work we study some methods of storing data in the cloud for a given time using secret sharing technology. Such problems are especially relevant in the context of the rapid development of the internet of things (IoT). Chips, smart cards and other physically small devices, as a rule, have significant memory limitations, so there is a need to use cloud storage as an auxiliary tool for secure data storage. We present method for secure storing data in distributed servers, provided that servers remote from each other do not collude with each other. In the paper we also consider two diferent methods for storing data using various cryptographic solutions, such as Shamir's secret sharing method, El Gamal scheme, diffie-hellman key distribution protocol.

Abstract

Rising electricity demand, fossil fuel depletion, and environmental concerns highlight the need for sustainable rural electrification. The Elenjere community in Kwara State, Nigeria, depends on costly diesel generation and limited grid access, creating an urgent demand for reliable and affordable alternatives. This study designs and optimizes a hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) for the community using hybrid optimization model for electric renewables (HOMER) Pro simulation. The proposed system combines photovoltaic (PV), wind turbines (WT), battery storage (BAT), inverter (INV), and a diesel generator (DG) as backup. Field data on load demand, solar radiation, and wind speed were used for realistic modeling. System performance was evaluated using levelized cost of energy (LCOE), net present cost (NPC), and system capital cost (SCC). Results show the PV/WT/BAT/INV/GEN configuration achieved the lowest LCOE of USD 0.455/kWh, an NPC of USD 2.98 million, and 86.2% renewable penetration, significantly reducing diesel use. Sensitivity analysis revealed that reducing battery costs and increasing PV capacity could lower the LCOE to USD 0.227–0.325/kWh. The study demonstrates how modest wind resources (4.19 m/s at 10 m) complement PV in low-wind regions while addressing inflation realism (25.5% discount rate, foreign exchange (FX) volatility). Future work will include dynamic control simulation and lifecycle analysis to enhance scalability and sustainability.

Abstract

High accuracy in breast cancer classification contributes to the effectiveness of early breast cancer detection. This study aimed to improve the multiview convolutional neural network (MVCNN) performance for classifying breast cancer based on the combined mediolateral (MLO) and craniocaudal (CC) views. The main contribution of this study is the development of a system, consisting of an effective image pre-processing method to create datasets using background removal techniques, and image enhancement. Also, a simplicity of preprocessing stage in the classifier machine, which does not require a feature extraction process. Furthermore, the performance of the classifier was improved by combining preprocessing dataset techniques and evaluating the best hyperparameter in MVCNN architecture. The digital dataset for screening mammography (DDSM) dataset was used for evaluation in this study. The best result from this proposed method achieved accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and specificity of 98.63%, 97.29%, 100%, and 97.29%. The evaluation results demonstrated the capability to improve classification performance. The method proposed in this work can be applied to the detection of breast cancer.

Abstract

Software-defined network (SDN) is one of the most predominant technologies for networking in the existing and next-generation networks. Therefore, this paper is conducted to introduce a survey for researchers who are interested in exploiting the dynamic tunneling technique to optimize software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN). The main purpose of this survey is not only to investigate the related works of dynamic tunneling with SD-WAN but also to classify this related work according to the aim of each research into the practicable categories and present the most dominated employments for tunneling with SD-WAN, specifically virtual local area network (VLAN). The performed classification accompany dynamic tunneling in SDN can be summarized into four categories as following: exploring VLAN in SDN; management of multi VLAN in SDN; recover link failure of SDN; and development of SDN by using VLAN. Finally, the intensive study of the literature in this paper discovers that the dominant path of research falls in the class that covers SDN’s link failure. This class takes full advantage of SD-WANs due to offering more robust networking and restoring most communication failures. In the event of a fault, the controller could respond and recover quickly by switching to a pre-computed backup route.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of terahertz (THz) technology has fueled an increasing demand for efficient, compact, and adaptable antennas that can function for a number of frequency bands in the THz spectral regime. This research outlines the analyses and design process of a multiband antenna for THz applications. Initially, an antenna with a single frequency band is created without any slot, with its lower resonant mode functions at a singular frequency of 171 GHz. To achieve multiband functionality, various rectangular slots can be added into the microstrip antenna’s radiating element. The suggested structure is constructed on a polyimide substrate, while its radiating elements are crafted from copper, with a compact size of 1.4×1.1×0.14 mm. It can achieve a reflection coefficient of −30.38 dB, −33.37 dB, and −19.33 dB at 123 GHz, 168 GHz, and 182 GHz, respectively. Furthermore, the antenna yields favorable gains at the respective frequencies, measuring 3.97 dB, 4.34 dB, and 5.66 dB for 0.123, 0.168, and 0.182 THz respectively. Additionally, the antenna demonstrates high efficiencies of 81.5%, 85%, and 91.2%, respectively. Hence, the suggested THz antenna will be useful for surveillance radar (123 GHz), medical imaging (168 GHz), and radio astronomy (182 GHz) applications.

Abstract

In this paper, we report the benchmarking results of Hyperledger,  a Distributed Ledger, which is the derivation Blockchain Technology.  Method to evaluate Hyperledger in a limited infrastructure is developed. Themeasured infrastructure consists of 8 nodes with a load of up to 20000 transactions/second. Hyperledger consistently runs all evaluation, namely, for 20,000 transactions, the run time 74.30s, latency 73.40ms latency, and 257 tps. The benchmarking of Hyperledger shows better than a database system in a high workload scenario. We found that the maximum size data volume in one transaction on the Hyperledger network is around ten (10) times of MySQL. Also, the time spent on processing a single transaction in the blockchain network is 80-200 times faster than MySQL. This initial analysis can provide an overview for practitioners in making decisions about the adoption of blockchain technology in their IT systems.

Abstract

In this study, a reconfigurable double-sided meander line dipole antenna (RMLA) incorporated with a tapered balun was developed to function at 0.9 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 3.7 GHz. Furthermore, the suggests antenna functions at three modes at different frequency bands with pattern reconfiguration. Two positive-intrinsic-negative (PIN) diodes were embedded in the two rectangular defected ground structures to accomplish frequency and pattern reconfigurability. With excellent impedance matching, the return loss in each of these bands keeps beneath -10 dB. The suggested antenna was designed using computer simulation technology 2020 and constructed on a FR-4 substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm, and dielectric constant of 4.3 mm respectively. Additionally, for antenna size reduction, meander line technique was embedded. The fundamental working mechanism of this reconfigurable antenna is accomplished by changing the status of a radio frequency (RF) switches, which is carried out in on or off mode. For the three resonant bands, the suggested antenna has a voltage standing waves ratio (VSWR) < 2. Up to 80%, the suggested structure radiation efficiency and gain (1−2.8) dBi are calculated. The suggested antenna is well suitable for global system mobile, wireless fidelity (WiFi) and C-band applications because of its notable features of high efficiency, good gain and frequency reconfigurability.

Abstract

Everyday criminal issues appear on social media, even some crime news is often disturbing to the public but it gives a warning to the public to remain careful and alert to the surrounding environment. However, following large amounts of crime information on social media is not effective, especially for busy people. Therefore, there is a need to efficiently and effectively summarize information in a way that is meaningful and easy to see, attracts people’s attention, and can be used by law enforcement officials. The purpose of this study is to present the index crime based on social media by looking for patterns of crime. This study proposes the projected index crime based on crime trends by using text mining to classify tweet texts and post contents into 10 crime classes. The classification method uses the neural-net multi classifier algorithm which has several classifiers namely logistic regression, naïve bayes, support vector machine (SVM), and decision tree in parallel. In this approach, the classifier that provides the best accuracy will be the winning classifier and will be used in the next learning process. In this experiment, in using the multi classifier neural-net, the logistics regression classifier often provides the best accuracy.

Abstract

This paper presents a complete field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation for showing a 4-bit binary value (0–15) as a two-digit decimal number on the Nexys-4 double data rate (DDR) seven-segment display. The design comprises: (i) a compact binary-to-binary-coded decimal (BCD) converter tailored to the 0–15 range; (ii) a seven-segment decoder for active-low, common-anode digits; and (iii) a counter-based clock-enable controller that time-multiplexes the digits at a rate chosen to be flicker-free yet energy-efficient. A simple timing model links the divider width , the number of digits , and the refresh rate . Simulation verified hazard-free switching and one-hot anode selection; hardware tests on the Nexys-4 DDR (100 MHz clock) confirmed the analysis. Selecting  yields  ms and  Hz, which removes ghosting while avoiding unnecessary high-frequency scanning. The system displays all inputs correctly and provides a clear sizing rule for wider inputs and more digits. The approach is fully synthesizable, resource-light, and portable to larger word-lengths and displays.
