Abstract

Generally, a museum has many locations and artifacts collection that display for visitors. Museum manager often have difficulty in obtaining information on visitors behavior such as, is there are particular locations/artifacts in the museum that are frequently/rarely visit by museum visitors, how long visitors spend their time in particular locations/artifacts, etc. The purpose of this study is try to build a suitable system in order to improve knowledge about the behavior of museum visitors by identifying the position of visitors in the museum. This study uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon that place around the museum. The visitor mobile phone will detect BLE beacon signal, then the mobile phone application will calculated the visitor’s mobile phone position using the signal strength from the BLE beacons that are detected. The application then sends it to the computer server to display it in as museum visitor heat map. From this information, the museum manager could find out the visitors behavior movement and know which areas/artifacts that frequently/rarely visit by museum visitors. According to distance error testing which compare real location and position of the calculation, it is show that the average of distance error is around 140 cm. So, it can be concluded that the information obtained is sufficient enough to represent the position of museum visitors.

Abstract

In this paper, the experiments on phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LEDs) with a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 8500K has been conducted with the scattering enhancement particles (SEPs) to achieve the higher color uniformity and emitted luminous flux of pc-LEDs. Moreover, this paper also introduced about choosing scattering enhancement particles (SEPs), including calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and titania (TiO2), and compared these particles’ properties by adding them into the yellow Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ phosphor compounding. Afterward, the LightTools program was applied to illustrate the optical simulation, and obtained results was analyzed and verified by applying the Mie-scattering theory. The scattering coefficients, the anisotropic scattering, the reduced scattering, and the scattering amplitudes at 455 nm and 595 nm are included in the scattering computation of SEPs. According to researched results, among the SEPs, TiO2 particles result in the highest value of color uniformity. However, a rise in their concentration is the cause of a sharp decline in luminous flux. Meanwhile, CaCO3 particles show the ability of reducing the deviated level in correlated color temperature by 620K if there is employed 30% of CaCO3 concentration. Hence, CaCO3 particles are the recommendation for achieving higher chromatic homogeneity and lumen output.

Abstract

Due to the advances in mobile phone technology, Smartphones have the ability to access web services within applications the user interacts with to retrieve and send information from and to web services. As Smartphones have grown in popularity, the utilisation of both new web services and web services already in place will also grow. This paper provides a comparison of the two main types of web services, SOAP and REST.  We evaluate the performance of using SOAP and REST on a smartphone. The tests performed include the time taken to perform a web service call, the RAM used making a web service call and the data transmitted and received while making a web service call.

Abstract

IEEE 802.16 standard provides resources to both service classes Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and Variable Bit Rate (VBR). Both of these services required enough resources to transmit data efficiently.Considering available literature there is a gap to provide additional resources for fulfillment of the required service class. In this paper we propose a Service Based Fair Resource Allocation (SBFRA) Mechansim, for evaluating the required service from Subscriber (SS) along with the channel condition. Our proposed model evaluates, for providing the required service to SS how much additional resource will be required. In this model we introduced Priority Queue Scheduling Methodology for providing additional resources as per channel condition. In this paper we made comparison with and without proposed model on both traffic, CBR and VBR. We experiment that our proposed model manages the user request by providing them additional resources as required for satisfaction. Their request handled in Priority Queue Scheduling based mechanism. Results shows, that we achieve improvement by providing the additional resource on fair scheduling basis. To achieve the required performance for fairness we have to compromise on with delay.

Abstract

There is an increasing interest to have an access to hidden objects without making any destructive action. Such non-destructive method is able to give a picture of the inner part of the structure by measuring some external entities. The problem of reconstructing planar multilayered structures based on given scattering data is an inverse problem. Inverse problems are ill-posed, beside matrix inversion tools, a regularization procedure must be applied additionally. Multiplicative regularization was considered as an appropriate penalty method to solve this problem. The Gauss-Newton inversion method as an optimization procedure was used to find the permittivity values, which minimized some cost functions. Several dielectric layers with different thickness and profiles were observed. Some layers needed more discretization elements and more iteration steps to give the correct profiles.

Abstract

The era of beyond third generation wireless communication is highly heterogeneous in that it comprises several radio access technologies that need to be joined into a single multimode terminal. In this respect, this paper introduces a common service recognition system for the next wireless communication technologies i.e. Long Term Evolution (LTE), WiMAX or IEEE 802.16, and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) or IEEE 802.11.It is done in physical layer as one of multimode terminal ability regardless network cooperation existence. We investigation the preamble and synchronization signals as indicators of the available services instead of carrier frequency detection. To detect these signals, we proposed a time domain detection system consisting of auto-correlation, cross-correlation, and a peak period detection. Based on complexity analysis, this paper proposes the most possible scheme with lower complexity than cross-correlation implementation. Moreover, the fixed point simulation results show that the proposed system satisfies the minimum receiver sensitivity requirements that specified in the standards.

Abstract

The fire often takes many victims. Fire detection system sometime can not prevent this from happening. Therefore, it is essential to develop a robot that can detect the present of fire as well as extinguish it. This research aimed to design a fire extinguisher robot using AT89S52 microcontroller as its controller. A DC fan controlled by a relay is utilized to put out the fire and a fire sensor (UV-Tron) is used to detect the presence of fire. The movement of the robot is driven by motor DC. The robot can detect the surrounding obstacles and possess an ultrasound-based navigation system. If the ultrasound system detects an obstacle, the robot will automatically turn without colliding the obstacle or other things around it. The result has shown that this fire extinguisher robot can be built using hardware and software controlled by an AT89S52 microcontroller. It can be concluded from the tests that the robot can detect fire as far as 5 meter distance and able to successfully put out the fire.

Abstract

In VANETs, vehicles as nodes are self-organized and inter-communicated without centralized authority. The topology formed by vehicles changes quickly, which makes routing become instability. Position-based routing, compared with traditional routing, is more scalable and feasible. Thus it has been proven stabler for VANETs than conventional routing. However, the frequently changed topology and nodes density could break the path a packet is following. Thus designing a robust multi-hop routing in VANET is challenging. This paper proposes an enhanced position-based routing protocol called CBGR, which takes into account the velocity and direction of vehicles in VANET. Simulation results show that CBGR achieves a high level of routing performance in terms of hop counts, network latency and packet delivery ratio both in dense or sparse vehicular ad-hoc networks.

Abstract

This paper introduces a fast method to localize the multiple harmonic sources (MHS) for rectifier based loads in power distribution system by utilizing periodogram technique with a single-point measurement approach at the point of common coupling (PCC). The periodogram is a fast and accurate technique for analyzing and distinguishing MHS location in power system. Matlab simulation is carried out several unique cases on IEEE test feeder cases due to validate the proposed method. The identification of MHS location is based on the significant relationship of spectral impedance which are fundamental impedance (Z1) and harmonic impedance (Zh) that's extracted from an impedance power spectrum. It is verified that the proposed method is fast, accurate, and cost efficient in localizing MHS. In addition, this method also contributes 100% correct identification of MHS location.

Abstract

In data communication of the signal transmitted from the transmitter (Tx) to receiver (Rx) stations is very influential. Buffer and Eb/No are two parameters that influence the quality of signal. This research measures those parameters and the relationship among them. This research employs data collected on the Link STM-1 side in Makassar and Timika operated by PT. Telkom Metra Bogor. The period of data is carried out for 56 days taken by using Simple Management Network Protocol (SNMP). To analyze the relationship among those two parameters, we use product moment correlation (PMC) method. The result correlation of the data buffer and Eb/No with a level of real is 0.05 and then buffer set in modem CDM 700 is 50% with threshold Eb/No 12.1 dB and the modulations used 64-QAM. That resulted correlation of side in Makassar is 0.648 and the p-value is 0.000. Correlation of side in Timika is 0.722 and the p-value is 0.000. These results suggest that the two parameters are correlated strong and significant.
