Journal of Educational, Health and Community Psychology
Journal of Educational, Health, and Community Psychology (JEHCP) published an article, and empirical study that have originality, novelty and fill the gap of knowledge, that focused on educational psychology, health psychology and community psychology. JEHCP is an open access peer reviewed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes quality studies related to psychology. JEHCP is interdisciplinary in approach, and includes to reports of qualitative case studies, quantitative experiments and surveys, mixed method studies, action researches, meta-analyses, and discussions of conceptual and methodological issues. The field of educational psychology includes the effectiveness of educational interventions, the psychology of teaching, and the social psychology of schools as organizations, motor skills and other psycho-physiological processes; cognitive development involving areas such as problem solving, language acquisition; social, personality, and emotional development; self-concept and identity formation. The field of Health Psychology includes the stress-related ilnesses, the health coping strategy, resiliency, work on health attitudes and behaviour, health locus of control, quality of life in chronic disease, influence of emotion on health and health-related behaviours, psychological interventions in health and disease as well as psychological aspects of prevention. The field of Community Psychology includes research, evaluation, assessment and intervention, and review articles that deal with human behavior in community settings. Articles of interest include descriptions and evaluations of service programs and projects, studies of youth, parenting, and family development, methodology and design for work in the community, the interaction of groups in the larger community, and criminals and corrections.

Abstract This research evaluated the association between socio demographic characteristics and housing satisfaction of Iranian immigrantâs homeowners in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Data was collected from 325 participants through self-administered questionnaire. Pearsonâs correlation analysis revealed monthly income of first income earner, total earned income earner, price of residential unit, number of bed room, time owners have been in Malaysia, had positive significant relationship with housing satisfaction of Iranian immigrants homeowners in the study region. Nevertheless, there was no significant association between age, number of bath room, number of dining room, number of living room, length of residence in current house, monthly income of second income earner, number of income earner, number of children, and size of household and housing satisfaction of the immigrant ownersâ households. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicated that housing satisfaction differed between level of education, level of income, and level of price of residential unit. Independent t-test shown that there was significant difference between gender and housing satisfaction of the participants. These associations indicate that those who are females, higher income, higher education, higher residential unit with more room are more satisfied. It is recommended planners and policy makers should prominence on development of housing conditions of immigrantâs households to increase their housing satisfaction. Keywords:background characteristic, housing satisfaction, housing, immigrantâs homeownerâs households

                     AbstractEarlier studies show an effect of self-efficacy on studentsâ learning and achievement. Self-efficacy has operationally defined as oneâs belief that people can successfully perform a given task. The main purpose of the paper is to discuss how self-efficacy developed and the way it influences studentsâ academic performance in addition to social interaction with peers. A scenario was given to Pakistani high school students by solving mathematical problems. Present study was designed to study the impact of self-efficacy on 15 boys, students of the 5th grade of a local school. Hagueâs (1990) Urdu Self-efficacy scale was administered. It was found that students with high self-efficacy obtained higher scores on 50 mathematical problems test. Further, content analysis of intervieweesâ responses showed that students with high self-efficacy planned to study complex subjects in future. A cross-cultural study is strongly recommended in this issue that determines the studentsâ future.Keyword: Self-efficacy, mathematical problems, Pakistani students, complex course.

Abstract One of the unpleasant behaviors that threats womenâ life and leads to various disquiets among family members is domestic violence. Prevention of  this  social dilemma and  recognizing of  its  mechanism supposed as  a  vital  and predictable fact in national policies. Abstract This study was conducted to determine whether psychoeducational of healthy dating can reduce the risk of sexual violence in female adolescents of street children community. Subjects in this study were 8 adolescents of street children community of North Square of Yogyakarta. The study design used one group pretest-posttest design and follow up. The results of Wilcoxon test showed no significant difference between the scores of sexual violence before psychoeducational healthy dating (pretest) and after (post-test) with Z = -1.420 and p = 0.156 (p> 0.05), the mean of decrease in score was 4.44. Likewise, there was no difference between the scores of sexual assault after courting healthy psychoeducational (posttest) and during follow-up with z = -1.612 and p = 0.107 (p> 0.05), the mean decrease in score was 4. However, there were significant differences between the scores of sexual violence before (pretest) and follow-up with z = -2.103 and p = 0.035 (p <0.05), the mean of decrease in score was 8.44 which indicated that the application of a healthy dating psychoeducational could reduce the risk of sex violence on girls in street children community, but it needed 1 month to be applied in the form of healthy dating behavior. AbstractInternalizing/externalizing behavioural problems among adolescents are the most important issue in adolescentsâ mental health. Cognitive-emotional regulation strategies are the important protective and risk factor for internalizing/externalizing behavioural problems. In the present study the moderating role of gender in the relationship between cognitive-emotional regulation strategies and internalizing/externalizing behavioural problems among adolescents was investigated. The respondents were 328 students who filled out Youth Self Report and Cognitive-Emotional Regulation Questionnaire. The moderating effect of gender were estimated by AMOS and the model fit indicated that gender did not have any significant moderating role in the relationship between positive and negative cognitive-emotional regulation strategies and internalizing/externalizing behavioural problems among adolescents.Keywords: internalizing/externalizing, cognitive-emotional regulation, gender, adolescents

Abstract Current researches on internationalization claim âstudying overseasâ as a set of potential that assist the augmentation of âglobalizationâ. This article presents the Multicultural Benefits and challenges for International Students during Period of their Study in university Putra Malaysia. Qualitative method and convenience sampling was applied. Semi-structured interview and in depth interviews were conducted on 20 postgraduate students from various fields of study. The result of study showed that the benefits and challenges faced by the international post-graduate students can classify into distinct categories. Studying overseas offers benefits and plus points in terms of Career perspective, cultural familiarity, self-development. The challenges included problems related to facilities, social environment, education system, financial problem and international office programs. The comments made by the students could be considered by the university authorities for improvement in quality of education for international students during their studies.Keywords: International post-graduate students, challenges and benefits, qualitative method.

Abstract This study aimed to understand womenâs experiences of domestic violence and their decision to terminate the abusive marriage in Yogyakarta. Criterion sampling of three woman survivor of domestic violence was performed. These consented to be interviewed and a semi structure interview guide was used. The women shared their life experiences since the dating time up to the time after divorce. A phenomenological approach was employed to analyze the data, to explore, share, and validate their feelings and insights on their life experiences. From this study numerous factors that facilitated as well as hindered the women to terminate their abusive relationships, and the dynamics of the transition process were identified. The womenâs experiences reflect the complexity of domestic violence. The womenâs transformation from victims, meaning women living under the authorities, into survivors, meaning woman with self-autonomy, is demonstrated through their stories. The complexity of domestic violence among Indonesia women is only a little known. By comprehending the complexity of domestic violence, a more visible and practical programs to address the national commitment to improve the Indonesian womenâs situation can be developed. Keywords: domestic violence, phenomenological approach, women survivor of domestic violence, Indonesia.Â

AbstractJob satisfaction assumed as a one of the main factor amongst academic staff and placed as a basic inner feeling for them. Abstract Theoritically, marriage and age is two aspects related to level of psychological well-being (PWB). A person who married will be healthier physically and psychologically, so it can increase the PWB. The PWB will be higher for adult rather than younger. The question is, what about someone who got married at an early age? Is there any difference between the level of PWB on early married women and women who married in adulthood? Therefore, this study aimed to see differences between those two subjects. The research used survey methods, with PWB scale as the instrument. Subjects in this study were women aged 20-30 years, who married at the aged under 20 years and above 20 years. Subjects in this study 67 people. The results showed significant differences in levels of PWB among women who married early to married adult women (t = 3.816, p = 0.000, p <0,01). Abstract This study aims for determining the effect of Mozart classical music to decrease the stress level among sixteen students who are writing their thesis. The present study used a randomized pretest posttest control group design. The process of Mozart classical music was conducted in four sessions for 1 hour. The score of stress level was analyzed to compare between pretest, posttest and follow up using Friedman test. The result of data analysis showed a significant decreasing of stress level score between pretest, posttest and follow up in the experimental group (Chi-Square = 12,542 p = 0,02 p < 0,05). This result indicated that Mozart classical music was quite effective in decreasing stress among students who is writing their thesis.Keywords: Mozart classical music, stress among students who are writing the thesis
