Journal of Educational, Health and Community Psychology
Journal of Educational, Health, and Community Psychology (JEHCP) published an article, and empirical study that have originality, novelty and fill the gap of knowledge, that focused on educational psychology, health psychology and community psychology. JEHCP is an open access peer reviewed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes quality studies related to psychology. JEHCP is interdisciplinary in approach, and includes to reports of qualitative case studies, quantitative experiments and surveys, mixed method studies, action researches, meta-analyses, and discussions of conceptual and methodological issues. The field of educational psychology includes the effectiveness of educational interventions, the psychology of teaching, and the social psychology of schools as organizations, motor skills and other psycho-physiological processes; cognitive development involving areas such as problem solving, language acquisition; social, personality, and emotional development; self-concept and identity formation. The field of Health Psychology includes the stress-related ilnesses, the health coping strategy, resiliency, work on health attitudes and behaviour, health locus of control, quality of life in chronic disease, influence of emotion on health and health-related behaviours, psychological interventions in health and disease as well as psychological aspects of prevention. The field of Community Psychology includes research, evaluation, assessment and intervention, and review articles that deal with human behavior in community settings. Articles of interest include descriptions and evaluations of service programs and projects, studies of youth, parenting, and family development, methodology and design for work in the community, the interaction of groups in the larger community, and criminals and corrections.

Abstract This research aims to determine the relationship between the cultural value of AAS (Anxiety about Aging) and religiosity as a moderator variable. The subjects of this research were Toraja community in the middle age group (40-60 years old) and late adults (60 years old and over) who were still performing the ritual of Ma 'Nene' or Ma 'Ta' Da' amounted to 174 research subjects. The instrument used in this research was INDVALS scale (Sihombing, 2014) to measure cultural value (α = 0.866), AAS scale (Lasher and Faulkender, 1993) to measure anxiety about aging (α = 0.82), and the Religiosity Scale that has been modified and rearranged based on the dimensions of religiosity by Stark & Glock (1968). The method of analysis used was PROCESS method by Andrew F. Hayes, which was used through the SPSS 21.0 for Windows statistical program. The analysis results showed that the significance value (Ï) was 0.5687>α = 0.05, so the research resulted that religiosity has no effect on the relationship of the variable of cultural value and anxiety about the aging of Toraja community. In addition, the cultural value of the Toraja community was confirmed to play a role in anxiety about aging by 33.7%. Keywords: Cultural Value, Anxiety about Aging, Religiosity, Toraja Culture.

Abstract Many children closely interact with teachers for nine months out of the year and schools are one of the safest places for students to be educated and teachers have a vital role for this education. Teachers should prevent from different kinds of child abuses and have an important role for preventing from child abuse. The primary purpose of this literature review study is to investigate of the phenomenon of child abuse within the school environment by teachers. The second aim of this paper is to determine the legal ways in different countries to encounter with physical child abuse by teachers. Child abuseby teachers has an in depth influence on children’s behaviors and their academic achievements. Abused children have been found to suffer from extreme deficits in school, exhibit poor academic performance, antisocial behaviour, poor self-respect, higher criminal behaviour rates, scepticism of adults, and central nervous system functioning. The findings of this paper showed that there are many reported cases of child abuse by teachers in rural areas, nevertheless, many countries banned or restricted physical abuse or corporal punishment and made legal decisions.  Keyword :  Legal ways, teachers, child abuse, rural, corporal punishment

                     AbstractEarlier studies show an effect of self-efficacy on students’ learning and achievement. Self-efficacy has operationally defined as one’s belief that people can successfully perform a given task. The main purpose of the paper is to discuss how self-efficacy developed and the way it influences students’ academic performance in addition to social interaction with peers. A scenario was given to Pakistani high school students by solving mathematical problems. Present study was designed to study the impact of self-efficacy on 15 boys, students of the 5th grade of a local school. Hague’s (1990) Urdu Self-efficacy scale was administered. It was found that students with high self-efficacy obtained higher scores on 50 mathematical problems test. Further, content analysis of interviewees’ responses showed that students with high self-efficacy planned to study complex subjects in future. A cross-cultural study is strongly recommended in this issue that determines the students’ future.Keyword: Self-efficacy, mathematical problems, Pakistani students, complex course.

AbstractThis research aims to analyze the correlation between social anxiety and college adjustment. 436 undergraduate psychology students of five universities in Central Java were involved in this study. All respondents completed a questionnaire about student adjustment to college, and social anxiety scale. Canonical correlation was conducted to analyze the data. The result showed that fear of negative evaluation correlates with academic and personal-emotional adjustment, but not with social adjustment and institutional adjustment, while social avoidance and distress correlate with all of the dependent variables. This study suggests about the role of social anxiety to college adjustment. These findings investigate further discussion about appropriate intervention to address adjustment problems among college students.Keywords: Academic adjustment, social adjustment, personal-emotional adjustment, institutional adjustment, social anxiety.

Abstract Cooperation is one of the main factors amongst nomadic tribes that caused of their unity and growth; also, it has been determined their life style. Furthermore, the goal of the current literature review was to explain the role of cooperation amongst people of tribes in Ivan Kalhor, Iran; also, illustrated the importance of this humanity factor in views of various famous scientists in the world that determined based on qualitative method. Lack of consideration to some factors such as cooperation in this kind of societies creates the different type of problems, and it can be harmful to nomadic tribes; additionally, it can decrease this population. In another word, the existence of cooperation as one of the principle human needs can advance and support activity and relation of people in tribes and conduct their activity in the correct way. The present study aims to determine the association between motivation &  mindfulness among college sports players by examining types of motivation from most self determined (intrinsic motivation) to lowest self determined (amotivation) & its relation to dispositional mindfulness. A total of 120 college sports players served as participants (90 boys & 30 girls). They filled Sports Motivation Scale & Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale with some demographic information. The demographic characteristics revealed that most of participants were in team sports (80%) & playing for last 1-5 years (86%). A significant relationship was found between Intrinsic motivation & mindfulness (r = .70**). Regression analysis showed that intrinsic &integrated regulations were significantly predicting mindfulness (63% variance). It is interesting to know that in Pakistani colleges more boys participate in sports even in absence of facilities (coach is available to 35% of participants only). Self regulation & intrinsic motivation can be utilized to promote the well-being of youth with limited resources available.Â

Abstract The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between adding value; trust and teacher satisfaction among primaryand secondary school teachers in Malaysia.In this research,375 teachers were selected based on convenience random sampling from teachers who study in educational field. This study is quantitative research and data were collected based on questionnaire and were analyzed using descriptive, correlation and regression analysis. Based on Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient the results show that the high significant relationship exists between trust and teacher job satisfaction. However, low and negative relationship was found to exist between adding value and teacher’s satisfaction. Regarding to multiple regression, there are significant contribution of trust and teacher satisfaction. However, just adding value was not increase teacherjob satisfaction. Key words: Adding value –Job Satisfaction -Trust -Primary school- Teachers-Malaysia.

Abstract Discrepancies between individuals and their parents regarding career goals often present as inevitable conditions that have the potentials to influence individual career distress and also parental career distress from the perspective of the individual. This study aimed to investigate the moderating role of individual goal clarity on the relationships between individual-parent career goal discrepancies and individual and parental career distresses. We collected data from 205 freshmen of an university in Semarang, Indonesia, M age = 18.35 years, SD age = .64, 68.3% female. We used the Individual-Parent Career Goal Discrepancies Scale (α = .93), Goal Clarity Scale (α = .84), Career Distress Scale (α = .87), and Parental Career Distress Scale(α = .81). Hierarchical regression analyses demonstrated that as discrepancies increased, individual and parental career distress increased for high goal clarity and low goal clarity groups. However, those variables increased more markedly for the low goal clarity group. Our results highlight the important role of individual goal clarity in the consequences of individual-parent career goal discrepancies on young people’s and parental distresses. Recommendations for students, parents, and practitioners are discussed. Keywords: career, discrepancies, distress, goal clarity, parents

AbstractOne of the threaten behavior among managers is exhaustion. In fact, exhaustion assumed as a state of physical and emotional tiredness that appear in interaction with employees and students during working hours at school. The existence of this irregular feeling leads to low level of presentation at school and generates in adequate outcomes. Furthermore, recognizing and applying the optimistic factors such as self-efficiency can be valuable motivator in controlling and reducing the amount of abnormal reactions such as exhaustion among managers at schools. The purpose of current study is focused on association between managers’ self-efficiency and exhaustion at public schools in Tehran, Iran. The results demonstrated that self-efficiency predicts the amount of exhaustion among managers and there is negative association between exhaustion and self–efficiency at school. Besides, the present paper supports the impact of efficiency on the amount of exhaustion among schools managers and reduction this unsatisfactory phenomenon at schools.Keywords: Managers, Self-efficacy; Exhaustion, Schools

Abstract Happiness is an important thing in human life, so it’s not surprisingly that people tend to do anything they could to be happy in their life. So do the Betawi people which is known as the indigenous people in Jakarta. Betawi people now facing the unpleasant reality in spite of their inability to compete with the migrants community who come and dominate the economy growth in Jakarta. This inability to compete, forces the Betawi people to move from downtown to the suburbs of Jakarta. Another impact of this inability to compete is the low level of welfare among the Betawi people, which is in turn, affects their feeling of happy. This study aimed to describe the happiness among Betawi People who lived in Perkampungan Budaya Betawi Setu Babakan, South Jakarta.Happiness questionaire was used to collect the data from 55 Betawi People. This questionaire consist of some open question and some question with alternative choices. Open questions describe the definition and sources of happiness, while question with alternative choices describe the level of happiness. The result showed that the subject of this study is quitely happy. The definition of happiness answered by the subject was categorized then, and finally revealed 7 themes: relationship within the family member, something correlated with material, having a peacefull life, something really important, achieving for what they want, physical health and to share with other people. Meanwhile, categorization on the sources of happiness found 8 sources: relationship within the family, materials, giving happiness to their beloved ones, relationship with spouses, physical health, having children, success and developing Betawi culture. Keywords: happiness, level, meaning, sources, BetawiÂ
