Abstract

Abstract  Tulisan ini membahas tentang unsur budaya sarakopat pada masyarakat Gayo. Dengan kata lain artikel ini menyajikan isensi adat budaya sarakopat pada etnis Gayo. Dimana sarakopat adalah kekuasaan yang empat, terdiri dari empat pilar kekuasaan raja, petue, imam, dan rakyat (Melalatoa dkk, 1985).  Etnis dalam kajian ini mengacu pada dua konteks sajian yakni 1. konteks situasi (register), dan 2. Konteks budaya (genre). Register yang merupakan konteks situasi, terdiri dari apa yang dibicarakan (field), siapa yang ambil bagian dalam pembicaraan (tenor) dan bagaimana peranan bahasa dipaka dalam pembicaraan itu (mode). Genre sebagai konteks budaya, adalah proses sosial yang bertahap dan berorientasi pada tujuan. Dalam setiap pembicaraan/tulisan ada satu tujuan yang mau dicapai/disampaikan. Tujuan itulah genre, yang terikat pada aturan-aturan budaya sesuatu bangsa. (Saragih, 1988: 59). Analisis wacana merupakan usaha memahami makna tuturan dalam konteks, teks, dan situasi (Firth, 1957 16). Teori analisis wacana yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini adalah (Haliday: 1997) yakni Halidayan register analysis of field, tenor and mode.Kata Kunci: Wacana, konteks, teksSarakopat

Abstract

Abstract  Learning the Littérature Française course online is relatively monotonous and less interesting. This is indicated by the stunted  attention and participation of students in attending lectures. This has an impact on the poor learning achievement for the subject which in turn is one of the causes of the low language skills of students. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to develop an interesting and a creative online learning media based on Canva application in order to increase   student’s learning outcomes in the Littérature Française course. This article discusses the result of need analysis of developing the Canva-based online learning media in Littérature Française course which is the basis for the importance of this development research.Keywords: developing, media, online, canva, need analysis

Abstract

Abstract  This study aims to determine if visualizing when teaching reading learners is beneficial in reading comprehension for students. One of the ways for teaching reading is visualization. It is the ability of a student to visualize what he or she is reading. Students learn to develop mental pictures to aid comprehension and recall in this method. And students can increase their comprehension of written content by creating mental representations. It increases students' focus, attention to detail, and independent reading skills by assisting them in transforming words into higher-level concepts. And teacher can make students work in pairs and allow them to work through the texts together from different subject areas. It can be inferred that teaching reading to young learners through visualization strategy is effective in reading comprehension for students.                            Keywords: teaching, reading, students, visualization, comprehension.

Abstract

Abstrak Peningkatkan kualitas UMKM melalui kegiatan pendampingan membuat iklan digital dengan memanfaatkan media online google terhadap pelaku usaha di bidang UMKM pada Kelurahan Tambangan dan Kelurahan Tambangan Hulu. Kegiatan pendampingan dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, diantaranya: 1) melakukan audiensi, koordinasi dan sosialisai program kepada stakeholder kelurahan, masyarakat, dan pelaku usaha sebagai penerima manfaat program; 2) penentuan lokasi pusat pelatihan pengembangan UMKM; 3) pelatihan literasi digital marketing; 4) penyelenggaraan web-blog online UMKM masyarakat Kelurahan Tambangan dan Tambangan Hulu; 5) sosialiasi dan pendampingan penggunaan akun Google Ads, 6) penyusunan rencana keberlanjutan pendampingan UMKM Kelurahan Tambangan dan Kelurahan Tambangan Hulu. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan disimpulkan bahwa edukasi literasi digital pada masyarakat sangat dibutuhkan, terutama bagi pelaku usaha yang ingin mengembangkan UMKM. Pengenalan terhadap iklan digital melalui Google Ads dan marketplace dapat meningkatkan kreativitas dan daya saing UMKM lokal. Hasil produksi UMKM lokal sebenarnya tidak kalah saing dengan produk dari daerah lain. Pemanfaatan Google Ads dan marketplace yang terpadu dan berkelanjutan pada produk UMKM sangat berguna untuk memperkenalkan produk lokal secara nasional dan internasional. Pengembangan UMKM melalui iklan digital juga bisa menjadi keunggulan daerah yang berkompetensi untuk meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat setempat. Kendala yang dihadapi dalam proses pendampingan iklan digital di tengah pandemi Covid-19 adalah kegiatan sosialisasi yang terhambat akibat adanya pembatasan wilayah sehingga akses pengajar ke kelurahan menjadi terbatas. Kata kunci: Iklan digital, UMKM, Google Ads, Pandemi Covid-19  AbstractThe development of MSMEs through mentoring activities to create digital advertisements by utilizing Google Ads as an online media for business in the MSME sector at Kelurahan Tambangan and Kelurahan Tambangan Hulu. Mentoring activities are carried out in several stages, such as: 1) coordinating and socializing the program to the stakeholders, communities, and business actors as program beneficiaries; 2) determining the location of the MSME development training center; 3) digital marketing literacy training; 4) organizing MSME online web blogs; 5) socialization and assistance on the use of Google Ads accounts, 6) preparation of a sustainability plan for mentoring MSMEs in the Kelurahan Tambangan and Kelurahan Tambangan Hulu. Based on the results of the activity, it is concluded that digital literacy education in the community is very much needed, especially for business actors who want to develop MSMEs. The introduction of digital advertising through Google Ads and the marketplace can positively increase the creativity and competitiveness of local MSMEs, especially during pandemic-19 which can be done remotely using internet. The results of local MSME production are actually no less competitive with products from other regions. The use of Google Ads and an integrated and sustainable marketplace for MSME products is very useful for introducing local products nationally and internationally. The development of MSMEs through digital advertising can also be a regional advantage that is competent to improve the standard of living of the local community. The obstacle faced in the process of assisting digital advertising in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic was that socialization activities were postponed due to regional restrictions. Keywords: Digital advertisement, MSME, Google Ads, Pandemic-19

Abstract

Abstract  The present paper is a descriptive qualitative research regarding the issue of code switching found in China Rich Girlfriend, a novel by Kevin Kwan. The analysis refers to Poplack‟s (1980) theory that consist three types of code-switching and Gumperz‟s (1982) theory that mentions six functions of code-switching. The result can be concluded as: the dominant types of code-switching by the characters is intra-sentential switching which represents 54 data (46,5%), tag switching is 51 data (44,0%) and inter-sentential switching is 11 data(9,5%). Most dominant functions expressed by the use of code switching found in the novel is interjections which consist 40 data (34,5%), and personalization 34 data (29,3%), addressee specification 19 data (16,3%), message qualification 19 data (16,3%), quotation 2 data (1,8%), and reiteration 2 data (1,8%). Keywords: Code Switching, Sociolinguistics, Novel, Types, Functions

Abstract

Abstrak Dalam bahasa Prancis, telah diketahui secara umum bahwa, kata kerja berakhiran -er merupakan kata kerja dengan bentuk konjugasi beraturan (verbe regulier). Namun, dalam kenyataannya tidak selalu demikian. Hal ini disebabkan oleh keberadaan kata kerja yang berakhiran -er namun memiliki kunjugasi yang berkarakteristik unik. Karakteristik tersebut tergambar melalui beberapa ciri orthografis yang dimodifikasi, perubahan tanda baca (accent) atau penggandaan pada huruf tertentu. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa analisis dan pemaparan terperinci tentang Karakteristik konjugasi kata kerja berakhiran-er penting untuk dilakukan. Kata kunci : Konjugasi, Kata Kerja Berakhiran -er, Karakteristik.

Abstract

Abstrak Meningkatkan kualitas, kreatifitas, dan motivasi pembelajaran Bahasa inggris pada siswa SMP Negeri I dan SMP Negeri II di kecamatan Patumbak melalui kegiatan pendampingan terhadap guru dan siswa dalam  pengembangan kemampuan menulis puisi siswa. Program pendampingan ini diterapkan ke masyarakat sebagai pemecah persoalan pengembangan pembelajaran di  era  pandemi  covid-19. Sekolah menerapkan sistem  pembelajaran  online  (daring) dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi web. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan, dengan sasaran guru dan siswa pada  SMP Negeri I  dan  SMP  Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak.  Prosedur  kegiatan  terdiri  atas    beberapa  aktivitas,  yaitu (1)  persiapan,  (2) pelaksanaan,  (3)  pelaporan  hasil  kegiatan,  dan  (4) diseminasi  dan  publikasi  ilmiah.  Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan didapat simpulan yaitu bahwa meningkatkan keterampilan menulis melalui media puisi dapat meningkatkan proses belajar siswa yang lebih kreatif dan inovatif. Apabila materi yang disampaikan guru dirancang secara detail, dan sistematis, maka pembelajaran keterampilan menulis melalui puisi bahasa inggris di SMP Negeri I dan SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak  dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kreatifitas siswa. Kata kunci: Keterampilan Menulis, Puisi, Bahasa Inggris Abstract Improving quality, creativity, and motivation for junior highschool students of the SMP Negeri I and SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak in English study through mentoring activities for teachers and students in developing students' poetry writing skills. This mentoring program is applied to the community as a solution to learning development problems in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. The school implements an online learning system with the use of web application. This activity is carried out, with the target of teachers and students of the SMP Negeri I and SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak. The activity procedure consists of several activities, namely (1) preparation, (2) implementation, (3) reporting of activity results, and (4) scientific dissemination and publication. Based on the results of the activity, it was concluded that improving writing skills through the medium of poetry could improve student learning processes that were more creative and innovative. If the material presented by the teacher is designed in detail, and systematically, then learning writing skills through English poetry in SMP Negeri I and SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak can improve the quality and creativity of the students. Keywords: Writing skill, Poetry, English

Abstract

Abstract  Since the development of increasingly sophisticated technology has resulted in many shifts in the function of electronics. People are starting to reduce their intensity of using manual television with the use of more sophisticated digital television. Digital television has many advantages over manual television which tends to contain only certain information channels. While digital television has a wider channel even to neighboring countries. Not only that, the public is also able to enjoy broadcasts from their respective devices just by downloading digital television applications such as Viu, Netflix, Iflix, WeTV, Vidio and so on. In this study, researchers took samples based on the titles of soap operas broadcast on Vidio.com or on Indosiar tv broadcasts using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. The method used is a critical paradigm based on a qualitative approach. This method focuses attention on the discourse of feminism. How women are shown in the text, whether in novels, pictures, photos or news. Then Sara Mills also pays attention to the position of the subject-object and the position of the reader.Keywords: sara mills, feminism, soap operas  Abstrak Sejak berkembangnya teknologi yang semakin canggih mengakibatkan banyaknya pergeseran fungsi dari elektronik. Masyarakat mulai mengurangi intensitasnya menggunakan televisi manual dengan penggunaan televisi digital yang lebih canggih. Televisi digital memiliki banyak kelebihan dibandingkan televisi manual yang cenderung berisi channel informasi tertentu saja. Sedangkan televisi digital memiliki channel yang lebih luas bahkan hingga ke negeri tetangga. Tidak hanya itu, masyarakat juga sudah mampu menikmati siaran-siaran dari gawai masing-masing hanya dengan mendownload aplikasi tv digital seperti Viu, Netflix, Iflix, WeTV, Vidio dan sebagainya. Pada penelitian ini peneliti mengambil sampel berdasarkan judul-judul Sinetron tayangan pada Vidio.com atau pada siaran tv Indosiar dengan menggunakan analisis wacana kritis Sara Mills. Metode yang digunakan adalah paradigma kritis berdasarkan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode ini memfokuskan perhatian pada wacana feminisme. Bagaimana wanita ditampilkan dalam teks baik dalam novel, gambar, foto ataupun berita. Kemudian Sara Mills juga memperhatikan posisi subjek-objek serta posisi pembaca.Kata kunci: sara mills, feminisme, sinetron

Abstract

Abstract  Suicide notes are messages left by people who have committed suicide or plan to commit suicide. These written messages express the victims' thoughts and emotions that they could not assert since they were alive. As a result, the purpose of this descriptive study is to investigate the characteristics of linguistic features of suicide notes written by eleven well-known male individuals. The method used in this study is qualitative content analysis. The data came from suicide notes written by eleven well-known males. These notes were available online. The researchers read, categorized, and explained the data consisting of five linguistic features of suicide notes: clear reasoning, expressing emotion, structure text, grammar, and punctuation. The findings revealed that all of the linguistic items were present in the suicide notes of very well individuals. The characteristics of clear reasoning were the most frequently observed because it informs readers of the victims' point of view about the reasons that led to their suicide. While the absence of hesitation and form of location occurred on an odd event. Finally, the findings of this study may aid future research into the study of suicide notes in forensic linguistics, the use of linguistics in data analysis, or legal issues Keywords :suicide notes; characteristics; linguistic features; forensic linguistics

Abstract

ABSTRACTPodcast on developing listening comprehension of EFL Learners (An Experimental Study at the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014?This research is aimed at finding out whether: (1) Podcast is more effective than conventional technique to teach listening skill at the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014, (2) In what way does the effect of podcast influence listening comprehension of EFL learners for the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of  2013/2014?The method which was applied in this research was experimental study. It was conducted at the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014.  The population of the research is the IX.A Grade Students of eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014  . The sample was 1 class. In taking the sample, a cluster random sampling technique was used. Each class was divided into two groups (Experimental and control groups). Then, the techniques which were used to collect the data were an intelligence test for getting the data of the students’ intelligence and a multiple choice test for getting the data of the students’ listening comprehension. The instruments were tried out to get valid and reliable items. The data were analyzed by using multifactor analysis of ANOVA 2x2 and tukey test.Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in general podcast technique is more effective than conventional technique to teach listening. For the students who have high or low intelligence, podcast technique is more effective than conventional technique to teach listening.In accordance with the above result, the English teacher is expected to be able to select the appropriate teaching technique to teach vocabulary for the students who have high or low intelligence.Key words: Podcast, conventional Technique, Listening
