Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menggali makna yang terkandung dalam ritual mengorbankan kerbau dalam ritus kematian pada agama Marapu. Pengamatan dilakukan pada masyarakat Sumba penganut agama merapu. Fenomena keagamaan dalam masyarakat secara antropologis dapat dilihat dari aras sakral dan profan. Aras sakral menempatkan fenomena keagamaan dalam hubungan vertikal antara manusia dengan tuhan sebagai pemilik kekuatan adikodrati. Sedangkan pada aras profan melihat fenomena keagamaan dalam hubungan horisontal yang terbangun dalam relasi sosial antar pendukungnya. Tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari aras sakral dan profan tidaklah terpisah sama sekali. Aktifitas yang tampaknya profan ternyata terkait dengan wilayah sakral seperti yang terjadi pada masyarakat Sumba. Keberadaan ternak khususnya kerbau menjadi penghubung antara wilayah sakral dan profan. Memelihara ternak, khususnya kerbau merupakan aktifitas sehari-hari yang bersifat profan namun menjadi sakral manakala kerbau hadir dalam ritual kematian. Sehingga secara nyata aktifitas profan dalam memelihara ternak khususnya kerbau akan menjamin tetap tegaknya agama Marapu. The objective of this study is to reveal the meaning behind the sacrifice of buffalo in the death rituals of Merapu religion. The observation was done among Sumba community, the followers of Merapu religion. Religious phenomena in the anthropological community can be seen from the sacred and profane dimension. In sacred level, religious phenomenon builds the vertical relationship between man and God as the owner of supernatural power. While the level of profane views religious phenomena in a horizontal relationship built within particular social relations. This paper shows that in the level of everyday life, the sacred and the profane are not separated at all as best exemplified by Sumba community ritual of buffalo sacrifice. Seemingly profane activities were related to the sacred as exemplified by Sumba people particularly the followers of Merapu belief. The presence of livestock especially buffaloes became a liaison between the sacred and the profane. Livestock, particularly buffalo are daily profane activities, but when the buffalo are present in the death ritual, they become sacred. Profane activities in raising livestock especially the buffalo ensures the upholding of Marapu belief.

Abstract

Laws of specialization is one indicator in personal branding that includes ability, behavior, lifestyle, mission, achievement, profession and service. Laws of specialization is an important indicator of personal branding that must be known by various segments of voters in the community as a source of information relating to the president and vice president. But in reality, laws of specialization experience a distortion of meaning so that these personal characteristics become biased and are often associated with various political interests. This often leads to conflicts that are based on differences in understanding, as well as the emergence of an attitude of distrust of presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates for the 2019 general election. This study uses a quantitative approach, descriptive statistics. Through this research, the people of Bandung City already know and are able to distinguish and provide responses about the laws of specialization of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2019 general election. This research has implications for community leaders, political figures and the government.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengeksplorasi proses dan tahapan pembelajaran Sosiologi pokok bahasan masyarakat multikultural dengan menggunakan media komik di SMAN I Bawang. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS 2 SMAN 1 Bawang  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru mesti melakukan persiapan sebelum pembelajaran dengan menyiapkan atau memilih komik tepat. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  siswa lebih senang pembelajaran dengan media komik tersebut dibanding dengan metode konvensional ceramah. Saat guru meminta siswa untuk membaca komik, siswa terlihat tertib. Semua siswa membaca komik dengan semangat karena di dalam komik terdapat gambar-gambar yang berhubungan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari dan kata-kata yang digunakan merupakan kata-kata yang mudah dipahami. Siswa pun dengan aktif merespon apa yang mereka diskusikan. Pada saat diskusi kelompok berlangsung, siswa terlihat aktif. Kelompok satu menanggapi kelompok yang lain. Dari data tersebut, berarti komik yang diterapkan  dapat menunjang aktivitas belajar siswa. The objective of this study is to explore the processes and stages of learning the subject Sociology multicultural society by using comics as learning medium at SMAN I Bawang. The subjects were students of class XI IPS 2 SMAN 1 Bawang. The results show that teachers should make preparations before learning by preparing or selecting appropriate comics. Research also shows that students prefer to study with the comic medium compared with the conventional lecture method. When the teacher asks students to read a comic, students look enthusiatic. All students read the comics with the comic enthusiastically because there are images that relate to everyday life and the words used are words that are easily understood. Students also actively respond to what they were discussing. At last group discussions, students were active. The group responded to the other one. From these data, the comic is applied to support the students’ learning activities.

Abstract

The term of undocumented marriage is only known in Muslim community in Indonesia. Undocumented marriage is a legal type of marriage based on Islam as long as it is meets the marriage’s legal requirements; however, it is diverge from the state rules because it is not registered in the authorized institution for marriage. A woman who married with this type of marriage, based on law and administration, has no clear identity before the state. It will make her difficult to have her right as a wife. Undocumented marriage will give weak position for children by law. In addition, women’s position in this type of marriage is the disadvantage object. Although undocumented marriage has negative impact especially on women and children; in Warurejo, however, this marriage is widely dispersed among the community. Research is conducted in Warurejo village, East Java using qualitative, quantitative and semantic approaches. Research result shows that the women’s position in this undocumented marriage is having discrimination, subordination, no bargaining power in the family, and susceptible for cervix cancer. They do not have any option for the future because it is determined by family, norm and value system prevailed in the community. Istilah nikah siri hanya dikenal pada masyarakat muslim Indonesia. Nikah siri adalah bentuk pernikahan yang sah secara agama Islam sepanjang memenuhi syarat sahnya pernikahan tapi dianggap menyimpang dari peraturan negara karena tidak terdaftar pada lembaga yang berwenang mengurusi masalah perkawinan. Perempuan yang nikah siri, secara catatan hukum atau administrasi tidak memiliki identitas yang jelas di hadapan negara. Sulit untuk mendapatkan hak-haknya sebagai seorang istri. Pernikahan siri berdampak pula pada kelemahan posisi anak secara hukum. Selain itu, posisi perempuan dalam nikah siri juga lebih banyak menjadi objek yang dirugikan. Walaupun nikah siri mempunyai dampak negatif khususnya terhadap perempuan dan anak tapi di Warurejo nikah siri begitu berkembang dan meluas pada masyarakat. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di desa Warurejo Jawa Timur dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, kuantitatif dan semantik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa posisi perempuan dalam menikah siri mengalami diskriminasi, subordinasi, tidak memiliki posisi tawar dalam keluarga, rentan terhadap kanker serviks. Perempuan tidak memiliki pilihan untuk menentukan masa depannya karena masa depannya ditentukan oleh keluarga dan norma dan sistem nilai yang berlaku pada masyarakat tersebut

Abstract

The researcher applied qualitative research and cultural analysis  to analyze the material and social culture of rakut si telu. The reseacher  participated the  wedding ceremony to explore the practicing  of   rakut si telu.  He has the wedding ceremony texts recorded. Colleting data, classifying  the data, and  analyzing data were done scientifically. The result shows the concepts of harmony among Karonese society are the center of  practising  rakut si telu. The role of rakut si telu in Karonese society are important as social standard control. The present of kalimbubu in a wedding party increases prestige of sukut. Anakberu has the role to keep the prestige of sukut. The role of anakberu are responsible to arrange activities in the wedding ceremony. Both groom’s and bride’s anakberu serve their each kalimbubu. Both anakberu are as mediators of each kalimbubu in proposing and responding the wedding regularities. Rakut si telu must be preserved  to avoid  negative impact of modern science and to keep  the harmony of the way humanity come to think.

Abstract

AbstractIn this article, I describe a methodological model I used in a experimental study on how to integrate character within the practice of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) at the higher education Indonesia.This research can be added to research about character education and CLIL in tertiary education, giving nuances to the practice of CLIL so far predominantly a practice in primary and secondary schools.The research was conducted in Semarang State University, in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, in Sociology of Religion bilingual class. The research indicates that the integration of character within CLIL enrich the perspective of CLIL by strengthening the use of CLIL for intellectual growth and moral development. On the other side, the use of CLIL with character education gives methods and perspectives to the practice of character education which so far only emphasise contents reforms without learning methods reforms. The research also reveals that the weakness of CLIL in using text for classroom learning can be overcome by the use of specific reading and writing strategies. I develop a practical text strategy which can be effectively used in highly conceptual subject such as sociology of religion. AbstrakArtikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan model metodologis yang saya pakai untuk mengintegrasikannya karakter dalam Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) pada pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini memperkaya penelitian mengenai pendidikan karakter dan penerapan CLIL di perguruan tinggi, selama ini penelitian semacam itu hanya biasa di level lebih rendah. Penelitian dilakukan di Universitas Negeri Semarang, pada kelas bilingual yang diikuti 25 mahasiswa, dan diujikan pada mata kuliah Sosiologi Agama. Pelajaran dari penelitian ini adalah integrasi karakter dalam CLIL dapat memperkaya CLIL. Sebaliknya penggunaan CLIL untuk mendidikkan karakter di kelas bilingual mampu menjawab berbagai tantangan pendidikan karakter di Indonesia yang sebagian besar masih berupa pengintegrasian karakter dalam kurikulum saja, tanpa disertai perubahan metode pembelajaran. Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa kelemahan CLIL dalam mengintegrasikan teksbook dalam pembelajaran kelas bilingual bisa diatasi dengan penggunaan strategi reading dan writing yang spesifik.© 2013 Universitas Negeri Semarang

Abstract

This study took a closer look at the socio-condition of the Javanese people in Surakarta at the time Dharmasonya (Ds) text was produced through a perspective of critical-sociological studies. The present Ds text was read through seeing the historical life of the Islamic religion. The main objective of this study was to probe socio-cultural life of the society in the age the Ds text was produced. The data source used was the translation of Ds text by Suratmin which was issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. To obtain the objectives, study on the Ds text was compared with other similar ancient texts of the same themes produced in the same time; these texts were Serat Wedhatama by KGPAA Mangkunegara IV (1853-1881) and Serat Tjemporet by R.Ng. Ranggwarsita. The data was analyzed through perspectives of Hermeneutic and Semiotics methods. The result shows that in Ds text, social criticism was an attempt to resist against the dynamic circumstances faced by the society at the time wherein the social status and nobility became people’s life concern. Such circumstance has apparently been used at least by a stream of Islamic group to write religious text in literary form, since religious doctrine was considered as one of the powerful weapons to control the society. Thus, most people would forcefully obey and submit to the teachings of Islam based on the Sharia law.

Abstract

This paper discuses integration between Green Islam and an agro-ecological movement in establishing food sovereignty practiced by a community of Pesantren Ath-Thariq Garut, West Java. They have struggled for food sovereignty through agricultural production models by prioritizing local wisdom, respecting to organisms, dividing land with zoning systems, planting with polyculture system, consuming diversified food, and self-mastering to make fertilizer. Furthermore, they also have preserved local and inherited seeds as an approach to cultivate their farming.

Abstract

Integrasi muatan pendidikan karakter di sekolah-sekolah merupakan hal yang baru dimplementasikan di lingkungan pendidikan Kabupaten Pekalongan. Pendidikan karakter masih banyak mengahadapi kendala dalam pelaksanaannya terutama dalam hal pemahaman guru tentang pendidikan karakter. Pemahaman guru tentang pendidikan karakter akan berpengaruh terhadap pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di dalam kelas. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah adakah pengaruh pemahaman guru tentang pendidikan karakter terhadap pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter pada pelajaran Sosiologi di Pekalongan. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah guru mata pelajaran Sisiologi di Kabupaten Pekalongan yang berjumlah 38 guru. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada pengaruh antara pemahaman guru tentang pendidikan karakter terhadap pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi di Kabupaten Pekalongan sebesar 14,3%, artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara pemahaman guru tentang pendidikan karakter terhadap pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi di Kabupaten Pekalongan.The integration of character education in schools is a new thing just implemented in Pekalongan educational system. Character education is still facing many obstacles in its implementation, especially in terms of teachers’ understanding of character education. Teachers’ understanding definitely affects the implementation of character education in the classroom. The main question discussed in this article is how teachers’ understanding of character education effeccts the implementation of character education on the subjects of sociology. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is influence between teachers’ understanding of character education on the implementation of character education on the subjects of Sociology and to find out how much influence. Respondents in this study are Sociology teachers in the district of Pekalongan Sisiologi, that has total number of 38 teachers. The results of this study show that there is positive corelation between teachers ‘understanding of character education on the implementation of character education on the subjects of Sociology in Pekalongan District with score 14.3%. This means that the effect between teachers’ understanding of character education on the implementation of character education on the subjects of Sociology is really significant.

Abstract

This study discusses the status of adat which has the power of formal law which gradually impacts on the addition and strengthening of political rights of traditional leaders. This phenomenon occurs in the Sakai Minas Traditional Village, Siak Regency. The community of the traditional village made a rule that the chief (Village Chief) must come from ethnic Sakai or who have blood ties with the Sakai community. On the other hand, there is a dichotomy of the political rights of people outside of Sakai Ethnicity. This study aims to analyze the strengthening of the authority of indigenous actors in Kabupaten Siak. This study uses a qualitative method. Analysis of data using emik based on the results of in-depth interviews and related documents. The results of the study showed that after the establishment of Sakai Minas Traditional Village status, customary actors experienced formal political authority (de jure) strengthening compared to before the establishment of traditional village status. Strengthening this authority comes from the interpretation of the Perda Kabupaten Siak No. 2 of 2015 concerning the Establishment of Traditional Villages.
