Abstract

The role of this research is to get a clearer picture of how remuneration system influence lecturer and employee performance moderates by motivation, specifically in the state universities. This study commenced in 3 major state universities in Central Java Indonesia in order to have Structural Equation Modelling (SEM)  method was applied to examine and analyse the relationships between determinants.  The results of this study show that ‘performance feedback’ has negative effect on ‘competence’; the relationship between ‘competence’ and ‘motivation’ is negative;‘remuneration’ positively affects ‘motivation’; the greater the level of remuneration, the greater the level of working performance intention in the institutions’;and there is positive and significant relationship between ‘motivation’ and ‘performance intention’. The study provides the importance of how the remuneration system can be applicated as one focal scheme to enhance instituions performance in general, especially applied to college.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of market power and type of ownership on bank’s income diversification in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and China. Banks diversifies their source of income to stabilize profitability level. Bank’s market power is a critical factor which affect its income diversification efforts. This study uses Lerner Index as a proxy for banks’ market power. By using a sample of 80 banks in five countries from 2012 to 2016 and operating Fixed Effect Model and Generalized Least Square, the result shows that banks with greater market power earn more non-interest income, except in the Philippines. Also, government ownership is proven to heighten the relation between market power and income diversification, with consistent results shown in each subsamples. Foreign ownership also heighten the relation between market power and income diversification, except in Thailand.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze pricing and promote strategies to increase customer loyalty of sharia banks in Kudus, Central Java, Indonesia. This research method using qualitative and quantitative approach. The data used is time series data. The population of this study are customers who actively transact in Islamic banks in Kudus. Sampling technique using non probability sampling with accidental type of sampling. So the number of respondents needed in this research is a number of 100 active bank customers. The analytical method uses correlational descriptive analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), correlational assumption test and classical assumption test using AMOS 20 software. The result of this research explains that price and promotion contribute to increase customer and product loyalty which can become empirical variable. This proves that Sharia Bank is expected to have a special strategy to increase customer loyalty. How to increase loyalty in addition to improving the quality of Islamic banking products such as murobahah, musyarokah and mudharobah is to improve the characteristics of macro and Sharia micro finance institutions. This is because the excess of syariah bank products has never been found in conventional financial institutions in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines TPC model in the context of utilization of accrual-based SIMDA Finance version 2.7 at Local Government of Indonesia. The success of SIMDA Finance development is not only determined by how the SIMDA Finance can process quality information, but also determined by its suitability to the work environment and its user duties. This study uses 2.056 of financial administrators of Local Government Department, consisting treasury admission, spending treasury, and operator. Online questionnaire distributed by snowball sampling with 24.5 percent of response rate and examined by Partial Least Square (PLS) technique. This study found that Job Characteristics and Techology Characteristics effect on Task-Techology Fit (TTF), Utilization, and Performance Impact. Theoretically, the study found that the TPC model was able to explain the context of public sector organizations, especially government agencies in Indonesia, outside of the organizational context when the TPC model was developed and developed earlier. Practically, the implications of research findings for stakeholders of SIMDA Keuangan are discussed further.

Abstract

This paper aims to find out the determinants of amount of cash holdings in developed and developing countries. One of the reason is because majority of studies that exist only focus on developed countries such as US or UK. Therefore, it is important to study cash holdings in the context of developing countries as well. Samples are drawn from DataStream Database using a sample period between 2009-2014 by including recent output with firm selection criterion based on data availability of firms (Al-Najjar, 2013), whereas financial firms with SIC codes 6000-6799 were not included as well as utility firms with SIC codes 4000-4999, resulting in total sample of 5402 observations from 23 countries. EViews was employed for the regression analysis with amount of cash holdings as the dependent variable. The results show that most of the hypotheses are not confirmed because of insignificant results and/or unexpected signs of coefficients. As the research about cash holdings in developing countries is not extensive yet, it is possible that there are differences to be found between developed and developing countries.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the impact of knowledge sharing and knowledge absorption on the innovation capability and the performance of Sharia banks. The rapid competition in banking industry among conventional and Sharia banks requires innovation capability in order to enhance the performance and achieve the sustainable competitive advantage. The development and performance of Sharia banks at the present still tend to be low. Innovation on product and service is one of the success keys of Sharia banks in enhancing the performance and competitiveness. Innovation capability can be developed if the employees within the organization are able to perform knowledge sharing or knowledge absorption. The sample of this research includes the employees of Sharia Banks in Semarang as many as 102 respondents. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with criteria; permanent employees who have been working no less than 5 years. The data collection method is performed using questionnaire, while the data analysis technique uses SEM. The finding concludes that knowledge sharing and knowledge absorption significantly impact the innovation capability and performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between store environments consisting of social cues, design cues, ambient gestures, and merchandise cues and their impact on cognitive and affective consumer evaluations of stores and merchandise that will influence approach behavior. The retail industry in Indonesia has increased inevitably. This development is predicted to continue to increase to 8% by 2018. As a result, stores are competing to offer new and unique experiences for both cognitive and affective customers. Over the past decade, similar research has rarely been done. In addition, item cues variables are also rarely mentioned in previous studies. Therefore, this study aims to explain more about merchandise cues. The basis of this research is quantitative method, using descriptive research type with research object Foodmart Primo Maxxbox Lippo Village. The sample size involved 200 respondents selected by applying purposive sampling. After data collected, the data were analyzed by using structural equation modeling (SEM). There are three out of 12 hypotheses that were not supported in this study. The three hypotheses are the relationship between ambient cues with consumers’ cognitive evaluation of the store, and no relationship between consumer cognitive evaluation and approach behavior. Theoretical and managerial implications and suggestions for further research are also discussed in this study. This study aims to determine the relationship between store environments consisting of social cues, design cues, ambient gestures, and merchandise cues and their impact on cognitive and affective consumer evaluations of stores and merchandise that will influence approach behavior. Abstract

This paper aims to explore barriers that prevent Moslem fashion industry to adopt and indulge more innovative apparel and accesories design. As Moslem fashion gains more popularity in Indonesia, Moslem fashion is now adapting a more modern and contemporary approach rather than using the traditional method in designing the apparel and accessories product lines for the customers. Nevertheless, Moslem fashion industry also faced barriers in pursuing and creating an innovative product design in order to gain the competitive advantage in the industry. There were 70 personal communications conducted from SME Moslem fashion key personnels across Indonesia. This research applied qualitative approach, mostly using semi-structured interview’s techniques in exploring the barriers of innovation from each SMEs. As the result, it was found that human resource barrier (lack of skills and shortage of skilled staffs), operational resource barrier (rare raw materials and difficculties to find a high-quality material), financial problem (high cost in innovation, lack of fund and poor financial management) and imitations from competitors were the most prominent factors that prevent Moslem fashion SME brands to create innovative apparel design and innovative fashion product lines.
