AbstractThis paper wants to remind of Schumacherâ€™s thought in order tocelebrate of one hundred years of his birthday. From his philosophical thought we are able to hope a fresh thought that bring human being to an enlightenment to go out from uncertainty life as an effect of science and technology. Schumacher was an amateur in economics who struggle in underground arena; he was popular for his concern to common people. He used eastern economic tradition that came from Buddhism and Gandhiâ€™s thought that concern to common people interest. He also tried to realize his ideas in the concrete life. It was made him as a pioneer in the concept ofmiddle and appropriate technology. Small is Beautiful was hismasterpiece beside many other writings; however, if we retrace his works, all of his writing was a unity. We can not differentiatewhich one a philosophical view and other economical view are, for he gave the same attentionâ€”freedom to human being in his activities and creativities.Keywords: Schumacher, economic, philosophy, and commonpeople.

The focus of the discussion in this article contains an analysis of reality, from the lowest level to the highest, based on physical science, Metamathematics and The Higher Infinite. Incompleteness theorem will play an important role in this discussion. As an application of such analysis, it will be discussed in this article the interpretation of Jalaluddin Rumiâ€™s mystical experience of reality via his poem entitled â€œA Garden Beyond Paradiseâ€. In this poem, Rumi emphasized that there is a reality that is much higher and greater than paradise, namely the reality of the Godhead. Human should not be satisfied with just paradise, he should continue his spiritual journey to unite with the Godhead.Â

The methodical aspects to analyze these research are interpretation, intern-coherency, holistical, and heuristical methods.The power in Javanese tradition is a metaempirical ideas that metaphysically is The successfully leadership will bring a good social order and the fail leadership will cause a chaos society. To reach the succesfully religion is used to legitimate the leadership sometime, everthought this way brings a negative aspect.This research will explain how mystic-religion ideas or religions influence a Javanese leadership, and its contribution to national leadership. This research is a libralian research. The material object of this research is to the tradition of Javanese leadership reached to the spiritual activity to accumulate the cosmic power in to a leader itself.The leadership therefore, is valid because sources from adikodrati power. The manunggaling kawula Gusti as religion-mystic ideas does not only explain relation between a leader with God, but between a leader with people also.The power of Javanese ideas usefull for national leadership development. It is important to remain that in the leadership personality there is a cosmic harmony. Believing to God and concern to the people are requierment in building a tight leadership.

The backgrounds of this research was the three major difficulties experienced by Indonesia nation after the political transformation of 1998, i.e. economic crisis in 1998, terrorism, and natural disasters. People who live in difficult situations need a way to solve the problem. Besides the physical solution, mental solutions (e.g. spirituality and religiosity) have significant role as a way out of trouble. In this context, the excitement of spiritualism in the community, whether urban or rural, is marked the strengthening of local spirituality and beliefs, for example sufism. Sufism has become a necessity of life of modern society. Even recently there is an interesting phenomenon of the urban community stretching to the study of Sufism. This study focused on understanding and history of Sufism in general, the emergence ofÂ Urban Sufism in Indonesia, the types and the contributing factors.This research is a library research which used philosophical hermeneutic method. Elements of methods used are description, historical, language analytics, verstehen, and heuristics.The result of the research are described as follows: Urban Sufism is a religious social phenomenon of urban society arising from the quest on spiritual dimension of religion. One significant factor that encourages the emergence of this movement isÂ people missed the spiritual aspect wich is almost missing in daily life. Based on the organization or community, urban Sufism has different shapes, such as Salat Khusyuk Community and "Majelis Zikir".Keywords: sufism, urban society, spiritual dimension

This research starts from the problems of education in Indonesia in which Heru Nugroho call them â€œintellectual banalityâ€. The intellectual banality is a situation which is characterized by unconscious superficiality of thought, and degradation of intellectual and academic quality. Basic idea of this research is to look for roots of the intellectual banality at the level of philosophy of science because educational practices presuppose a perspective to science. Roots of the intellectual banality in this research are: first, there is a priority of quantitative perspective to measure intellectual quality. Prioritization of the quantitative perspective can be viewed as a romanticism of induction method triumph;.second, ignorance the aim of science which is create the humanitarian welfare in general, not only one or a small group of person.

The relationship of individual man and society is natural. The individual man will never exist outside his society. The individual can be more dominant than the society or vice versa. In Japan, society or group posseses a stronger role than individual. Japan is well known with its groupism. This sense leads Japan to mastering sciences, technology, and economics fields. The objectives of this research are: a) to know the phenomena of collective life; b) to kwon the dialougue between the conservative collective life and the penetration of the modern values; c) to know Japanese cultural values that bases itself on groupism and leads Japan to be a modern society.This research is a bibbliographical study, using hermeneutics with its three steps: description, interpretation, and philosophical reflection. This research is started with collecting data than describing the groupism phenomena in Japan. The compiled data are analysed and interpreted to find the meaning or values of the groupism of collective life phenomena. Philosophical reflection is used to analysed human and social cost of development. Finally, the result of the research are reported after revision.The result of this study that, first Japanese society is an organizational society. Second, Japanese development and success has changed the society to a complex culture with its pragmatic materialistic, individualistic, and hedonistic attitude. However, the Japanese traditional values have become the root of the development of the Japanese modern corporation that manifested itself on the ethical code of the companies. Third, Japanese groupism with is sense of organization is very accomodative to modern bussiness ethics.
