Abstract

Among inmates, there is also silent community of drug users. Banceuy prison is the special prison in the city of Bandung, for inmates related to drug use crime. Recent data has shown that there are a lot of IDUs among inmates, and the cases of HIV positive among those are in the range of 20-53%. [(Banceuy- Bandung prison, 24% (2002); (Indonesian HIV/AIDS Prevention Care Project (IHCP) and Indonesian ealth Department, 2003)]. The Objective are to explore and understand the knowledge, perception and attitude of prison staffs regarding the program of reducing high risk behavior related to HIV among inmates. Method of data gathering is Focus Group Discussion, was collected from 42 out of 115 staffs and the analyze using qualitative approach. The conclusions is sometimes conflict between prison rules and prison staffs understanding, about handling the HIV/AIDS inmates creates uncertainty on implementing the policy (such as in the case of condom and MMT programs).Key-words : Prison staff, IDU's, Inmates, HIV/AIDS

Abstract

Humans faced with a variety of stressful conditions that can cause strong stress, and then can interfere with the welfare of human life. In extreme cases it can cause people to experience psychopathology. Preventive efforts to avoid disruption due to strong stress is to develop the capacity of the human resilience. Resilience is the ability of an individual to be able to successfully adapt and function well in the stressful situations.Perception of stress depend on primary appraisal, the appraisal of the stressor as harm / loss, threat, or challenge a different appreciation of the human cause. Factors that can affect humans in assessing the stressor is hot cognition refers to the mental process which is driven by the desires and feelings. Humans play an active role in managing stress, and also have limited control of their environment, because it is n e c e s s a r y f o r h u m a n t o b e r e s i l i e n c e .Key words: hot cognition, primary appraisal, resilience

Abstract

This study was aimed to examine the correlation between perception towards celebrity endorsers in cosmetic advertisements with the interest in purchasing of a university student. The hypothesis proposed in this research was that there was a positive correlation between perception towards celebrity endorsers in cosmetic advertisements with the interest in purchasing of a university student. Subjects used in this study were 90 female students of Psychology Faculty, Islamic University of Indonesia. The ages of the Subject are between 18-21 years old. The data collection used two types of scale, namely the scale of perception towards celebrity endorsers in cosmetic advertisements and the scale of purchasing interest. Scale of perception towards celebrity endorsers in cosmetic advertisements was developed by the researcher based on aspects to the celebrity endorsers perception presented by Belch and Belch (1995), which included the aspects of credibility, attractiveness, and power. The scale of purchasing interest was developed by the researcher based on aspects of purchasing interest presented by Krech & Crutchfield, (Prasitejo, 2005), which included affective (interest), cognitive (belief), and conative (decision). The results of testing the relationship between perception towards celebrity endorsers in cosmetic advertisements with interest in purchasing showd that the perception towards celebrity endorsers in cosmetic advertisements associated with level interest in purchasing {(r = 0.607 with p=0.000 (p<0.01)} therefore the hypothesis was accepted). The contribution of perceptions to the celebrity endorser on cosmetics advertisement to the interest in purchasing was 36.9%.Keywords : Interest in Purchasing, Perceptions towards Celebrity Endorsers

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of religious coping and subjective well-being to stress on the non-commissioned members of the police at the police resort Kebumen. Research subjects were the non-commissioned members of the Sabhara police force at police resort Kebumen and muslims. Data collection methods used scale. The results were analyzed using partial correlation analysis. Coefficient correlation between stress and religious coping of - 0.517 with p = 0.000 (p <0.01), while the coefficient of correlation with subjective well-being of - 0.309 with p = 0.022 (p> 0.01). This suggests that there was a significant negative correlation between religious coping, subjective well-being and stress. The higher religious coping and subjective well-being levels, the lower the stress levels. In other words, stress can be predicted based on religious coping and subjective well-being. Abstract

The current global situation is characterized by a variety of leadership requires a paradigm change in accordance with change itself. Leaders who have superior characteristics and exhibit adaptive behaviors to change, leaders are able to capture the phenomenon in the leadership and understand who the followers, so the process of directing, guiding, motivating and preparing future leaders can be achieved with good. This paper intends to provide an overview of the changes in the present paradigm, trying to see the similarities between transformational leadership as the present leadership with recognized leadership rooted in Indonesian society and initiated by Ki Hajar Dewantara. In addition it also presented about followership , which actually integrates with the leadership itself, thus the possibility of achieving success in the lead is not a difficult thing.

Abstract

The General purpose of study was to determine the presence or absence of the influence of interpersonal communication and service quality toward consumer satisfaction. The hypothesis of this study is that there is the influence of interpersonal communication and service quality toward consumer satisfaction. The subject of this study were consumers who had visited Kalimilk. The subject of this study consisted of men and women aged 18-23 years, totaling 60 people at try out and 60 people at the time of the study data collection. Data collected through the scale is was propagated to the subject of research. The data is was then statistically analyzed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS version 16.0 for Windows. The analysis found that the value R = 0.777 with p = 0.000 (p <0.01). The magnitude of the coefficient of determination (R-Square) interpersonal communication and service quality to consumer satisfaction at 60.3% (0.603). The general conclusion of this study is was there is was a very significant positive effect between interpersonal communication and service quality toward consumer satisfaction. The higher the interpersonal communication skills and services quality provided employees the higher the consumer satisfaction.Keywords: Interpersonal Communication, Service Quality, Consumer

Abstract

Psychological Well-Being is a condition where individual able to receive himself/herself just the way it is, creating warm relationship with others, having independence to social pressure, able to control external environment, having meaning in life also make his/her potential into reality continuously. For adolescent who able to pass and conclude the problems faced and compete setting the environment, there would be directed into positive psychological condition and form a good Psychological Well-Being in himself/herself. The research is a qualitative research with phenomenology study approach. Subject used in this research were Al-Qur'an Memorizer Islamic Students of ”Kampung Tilawah” Islamic School (Pesantren). The amount of subjects were five with initial ZN, AY, AZ, IM, and AK. Data collection method used in this research was interview. Data analysis used in this research was qualitative desriptive. Data realibility checking was done using triangulation technique. According to the research, there found that psychological wealth Al-Qur'an Memorizer Islamic student at Islamic School of Kampung Tilawah was variances, where subject ZN and AY are able to accept themselves just the way they are, controlling warm relations with other to fit it with their needs, having purpose, and clear meaning of life, also aware and use their potential in continuous way. While subject IM and AZ are able to control warm relations with other people, able overcome the problems in independent way, able to control environment as they needed, having clear purpose and meaning of life, realizing and accept themselves just the way they are and never felt increasing knowledge. Subject AK is able to create warm relation with other people, live independently in overcoming the problem, controlling environment as he needed, aware and able to use potential in continuous way, but still cannot accept himself just the way he is, and still has not found his meaning of life.Keywords: Psychological Well-Being, Al-Quran memorizer Islamic student

Abstract

Although the issue of sexual behavior has been existed for centuries but it is always interesting when it comes out in a discussion. This is understandable since sex is the human basic need and humans exist because of sex. Therefore sex and human beings are inseparable. Nevertheless, sex behavior must be controlled and with appropriate direction, especially for young generation who are living in a challenging environment. The controls for sex behavior include moral, religion, and information about healthy and responsible sex behavior. Sexual behavior is intended to build physiological, psychological, social spiritual, and procreative partnership between man and woman. The meaning of sexuality is larger than just intimate behavior between man and woman which is merely a biological interaction; it is a reflection of total human relations. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare the friendship quality of university students based on face to face and mediated communication. This study involved 91 students majoring in Psychology at the Universitas Islam Indonesia (sixty five females and twenty six males). Friendship Quality Scale was used to collect the data. This instrument was developed by the researchers based on Asher and Parker (1993) friendship quality aspects. Paired Sample Test technique was used to analyze the data. The researchers used the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS), Windows version 12.0. as a tool to calculate the data. Results have shown that quality of friendship based on face to face communication (mean score = 171,5165) has higher score than quality offriendship based on mediated communication (mean score = 160,0989), t = 7,055, p = 0,000 (p < 0,010).Keywords: Friendship, Friendship Quality, Communication, Communication Media

Abstract

The aim of this study was to understand the relationship between social support and adversity quotient in adolescent school transition. The hypothesis of this study was “there was a relationship between social support and adversity quotient in adolescent school transition”. Subjects in this study are 7th grade students in Sleman. All subjects are female and about 11 to 14 years old. This study used Social Supports Scale & Adversity Quotient Scale made by researchers. The Social Support Scale refer to House's theory and the adversity quotient refer to Stoltz's theory. This study use Pearson's Product Moment Correlation to examine whether there was a correlation between social support and adversity quotient in adolescent school transition. Data analysis showed r= 0.520, p = 0.000 (p<0.01) which mean that there was a very significant positive correlation between social support and adversity quotient. From the result of the study, we can conclude that social support has impact on adversity quotient in adolescent school transition.Keywords: adversity quotient, social support, school transition
