Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe the interests of Indonesia to host the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in 2018 amidst society rejection and natural disasters that were happening in several regions in Indonesia. The economic sector was a top priority in the national interest of President Jokowi, seen from progressive infrastructure improvement, strengthening tourism sector and MSMEs as well as efforts to attract FDI. However, the benefits of Indonesia are estimated to be not only short-term but also long-term benefits. Therefore, the Researchers used the national interest concept to explain Indonesia’s interest and the place branding concept as the strategy to attain these interests. The research then perceives the answer that Indonesia has four economic interests through tourism sector, MICE industry, investment and infrastructure. Abstract

ABSTRACT The terrorist attack that occurred in the United States on September 9, 2001 often remembered as the 9/11 tragedy, is the worst terrorist attack the United States has experienced in its history. In combating the terrorist groups for the responsibility for these attacks, the United States responded by launching a campaign against terrorism known as Global War on Terrorism by issuing military strategies as a form of implementation. To deal with increased terrorist activity in the Niger region, the United States uses a varied military strategy, one of those strategy is UCAV usage.This study analyzes and describes the reasons for changes in United States military policy using Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) in Niger in 2018. This study uses a rational choice framework and national security strategy to explain the reasons for changing military policy by using UCAV drones in Niger. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research attempt to explain bargaining power of Indonesia and PT Freeport Indonesia in negotiating the transfer of Kontrak Karya to Izin Usaha Pertambangan Khusus from 2017 to 2018, using qualitative methods and the concept of Bargaining power as a framework. Indonesia is the Host Country of PT Freeport Indonesia. PT Freeport Indonesia also a subsidiary of Freeport McMoran. In 2017, Indonesia and PT Freeport Indonesia negotiated the transfer of Kontrak Karya to Izin Usaha Pertambangan Khusus which both of the actors used their power for the negotiations. In this research, analyze the power that owned by each actor will determine the outcome or the result of the negotiations. In addition, the negotiations in this research were carried out by two different actors, Indonesia as a State, and PT Freeport Indonesia as a Multinational Corporations which has different cost and benefit calculations. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to provide description about the Chinese Government's Efforts to Achieve Economic Interest by Leveraging the Foxconn Labor Exploitation Issue in 2010-2016. In the economic development in China, Deng Xiapoing issued an open door policy that caused foreign companies to enter, one of them and the biggest one was Foxconn. Foxconn entered China in 1988 and greatly influenced the economic development in China. But over time, Foxconn exploited his workers. China Labor Watch has a report on the exploitation and China still allows Foxconn to operate. China actually seeks to keep Foxconn investing. This research uses an explanative qualitative method with data collected through literature study. The conceptual framework used to examine the data is of national economic importance. This study found China's efforts in the form of subsidies, workers search assistance to tax cuts. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the reasons Australia refused New Zealand foreign aid to accommodate refugees and asylum seekers of Australia in Papua New Guinea 2016. The Australian government has refused an offer submitted by The New Zealand government to accommodate refugees and asylum seekers Australia in Papua New Guinea since 2013. Australia has also severely restricted refugees and asylum seekers to enter their country since 2013. Australia’s refusal is related to the government’s desire to protect its national security from illegal refugees and asylum seekers behind the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement (TTTA) relationship with New Zealand. This Research uses descriptive qualitative method with a framework of foreign policy related to foreign aid and national security in order to answer the formulation of the problem submitted. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to explain AIPAC attempts in accomplishing their group’s interests through US’ foreign policy. The Researcher uses qualitative methods. The background of this research is AIPAC’s interest in recognizing Jerussalem as Israel’s capital. Upon the previous administrations, The US Government had failed to move US Embassy into Jerussalem until the administration JURf Donald Trump issuing the policy of relocating US embassy into Jerussalem from Tel Aviv. The Researcher uses the concept of foreign policy and interest groups as the framework. The level of analysis used in this research is state level of analysis. This research perceives that AIPAC successfully performed their function, such as lobbying fuction and participating function as an interest group in US. While performing their attempts in accessing the policy makers and forming coalitions. AIPAC managed to influence the foreign policy of US Government in relocating US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerussalem. Keywords: AIPAC, Interest Group, Foreign Policy, United States of America.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to explain the reasons for the Philippines under Duterte's administration in establishing a Joint Coast Guard Committee (JCGC) with China in 2016. JCGC is maritime cooperation in the form of joint patrols in the South China Sea dispute area conducted by the Philippine coast guard and the China coast guard. The decision to establish cooperation with China is a new thing in Philippine foreign policy, given the relations between the two countries in the previous government, which was not good. The theoretical framework in this research used the concept of absolute gains in the view of neoliberalism. This research found that this cooperation could help the Philippines achieve its national interests in maintaining territorial integrity and can minimize the disputes between the Philippines and China in the South China Sea. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe the strategy of the Goverment of Timor Leste inregistering Tais weavingin the list of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage through its foreign policy using descriptive qualitative research methods. Timor Leste is a newlyi ndependent country,so there are still many shortscoming in the fields of education, economy, politcs, social, and culture that the government needs to collaborate with many countries in the world and with international organizations. The activity received encouragement from various international and local organizations to work together. Therefore, researchers use the framework of thinking about Goverment to Government as First Track Diplomacy and Intangible Cultural Heritage concepts in answering the research issue. The research found that Timor Leste had a national interests in the 2011-2030 development strategy plan. Abstract

ABSTRACT In supporting efforts to bring about peace, ICJ always strives to provide the best solutions for countries that are involved in conflict. For example Thailand and Cambodia in a territorial disputes. This research will look at how ICJ through the PDZ mechanism helped Thailand and Cambodia to reach a point of peace after the conflict since the crowning of the historic Preah Vihear temple in 2008 by UNESCO, in 1962 the temple was legitimately owned by Cambodia but the ownership of the area around the temple is not yet clear. This research uses descriptive qualitative research using the concept of the role of international organizations. This concept analyzes ICJ policy and ASEAN's involvement as a mediator. Then it was found that the policies of the ICJ through the formation of the PDZ were able to encourage the two countries to stop armed clashes until finally finding a point of peace. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to explain what are the reasons behind the initiation of Saudi Arabia to shut down Al-Jazeera by using a qualitative explanative method. This Qatar owned media is a media that dare to criticize a government and provide a platform for opposition groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood. As a mass media, Al-Jazeera in fact has the power to shape the mindset of society and trigger political change in a country such as for example during the Arab Spring. Arab Spring is a large-scale pro-Democracy movement in the Arabian Peninsula that is able to change monarchical political systems in several regional countries.
