Abstract

ABSTRACT Political problem that happened in Thailand started by demonstrations to oppose Thaksin Sinawatra’s government that done by a group led by Sondhi Limthongkul in the end of 2005. Scandal of Shin Corp’s sale which as a important telecommunication enterprise in Thailand to foreigners at the end of January 2006 triggers many groups to involve in demontration with forming a social movement that named People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD). PAD’s efforts in order to oppose Thaksin Sinawatra in Thailand such as demonstrations in many places, occupations of government buildings and airports. Political disorder in Thailand has great impact into bilateral relations between Cambodia and Thailand. It caused by a deal that signed by Thailand's Government which support Cambodia to propose Preah Vihear temple as world heritage site to UNESCO. That moment used by PAD to inspire nationalism of Thailand's people because of that temple still become an object of dispute between two nations. This research aimed to describe the implication of PAD movement toward Thailand’s foreign policy related to bilateral relations of Thailand and Cambodia in year 2008-2011. Abstract

ABSTRACT Democracy has successfuly promoted to international community through the process of Globalization. One of the process could be conducted through information transfer. International media known with its ability to set a certain agenda, while also enhance with the ability to multiply information. VOA Burmese as an international source of news intrinsively involved in spreading the value of democracy in one of the most secretive nation, Myanmar. Through the exposure of uncensored information, VOA Burmese has influenced the people of Myanmar on the issue of democracy and information transparency. Moreover, VOA Burmese has contributed in raising the awareness of democratric movement to the people of Myanmar. Abstract

ABSTRAK     Proses Integrasi Uni Eropa sejak tahun 1990-an menuai reaksi negatif dari masyarakat negara anggotanya. Reaksi negatif yang lebih dikenal sebagai Euroscepticism ini diekspresikan dengan memberikan dukungan pada partai radikal kanan yang mengadopsi paham nasionalisme dan perspektif anti-Uni Eropa. Penelitian ini menganalisis fenomena tersebut melalui contoh kasus peningkatan elektabilitas Partai Golden Dawn dalam pemilu Parlemen Yunani tahun 2012. Peran Uni Eropa yang tinggi dalam isu imigrasi menyebabkan Pemerintah Yunani yang didominasi oleh partai politik mainstream harus menyesuaikan kebijakan imigrasi Yunani dengan kebijakan Uni Eropa. Padahal, kebijakan imigrasi tersebut bertentangan dengan kepentingan masyarakat Yunani yang menginginkan pengurangan jumlah imigran di Yunani. Sehingga, masyarakat Yunani memilih mendukung partai radikal kanan Golden Dawn yang dianggap mewakili kepentingan masyarakat Yunani melalui agenda anti-imigrasi yang ditawarkan.     Kata kunci: Euroscpeticism, Partai Radikal Kanan, Anti-Imigrasi

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cambodia, as one of the countries that have ratified the 1972 UNESCO Convention Text has a famous World Cultural Heritage is Angkor Wat. As one of the World Cultural Heritage belongs to Cambodia, Angkor Wat has experienced variety of problems from lack of attention and management that lead to various problems for the continuity of Angkor Wat as a World Cultural Heritage site. To prevent further damage, UNESCO as an international organization to perform its role and together with the Government of Cambodia form two pieces of documents of cooperation. In 2009-2010 formed Cambodia-UNESCO country programming document which through this document plan framework further to protect Angkor Wat, namely Heritage Management Framework that formed in 2010-2013, established by UNESCO, the government of Cambodia and Australia. Heritage Management Framework provides a variety of management strategies and policies that are effective in the protection of Angkor Wat. This study aims to describe the role in the protection of Angkor Wat UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. This study use the concept of the role of UNESCO and the World Cultural Heritage. Abstract

ABSTRACT Liberia’s civil war happened in two periods, first period was 1989-1997 and second period was 1998-2003. The socio-economical impacts themselves brought quality degradation of society life. The end of civil war was a momentum for Government of Liberia to open widely cooperation and receive assistances from external actors. One of international organizations that helped Government of Liberia was United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The existence of UNDP in Liberia was to help and to give assistance in order to support post-conflict peacebuilding. Liberia’s condition after civil war supported socio-economic recovery as part of post-conflict peacebuilding. UNDP carried out roles as development agency and also humanitarian agency to help Government of Liberia through socio-economic recovery related programmes and activites. The roles of UNDP to support Government of Liberia was addressed to create sustainable peace from negative peace to positive peace. This study aims to describe the roles of UNDP through socio-economic recovery as part of post-conflict peacebuilding in Liberia. This paper is also studied using concepts of civil war, international organization, and peacebuilding. The locus of this study is from 2005 to 2011. Abstract

ABSTRACT Terrorism is oneeof the serious threats toward national security moreover international security. After 9/111tragedy, terror incidents has been increasing in many countries, one of them is Pakistan. The terror incidents escalation gives impact to the emerging problems in various aspects. To handle terrorism, Pakistan conducts several attempts to address the problem through joint cooperation with United States. This research aimed- to describe the efforts undertakenbbyyPakistan and United States to handle terrorism. Abstract

ABSTRACT Environmental issue such as deforestation is one of serious threats toward national development. Especially for Indonesia as developing country. Society does not have power to fight the palm oil exploitation in Sambas District, West Kalimantan. Awareness-Raising as empowerment so that people have power against deforestation issue in Sambas. Advocacy helps people to gain their rights back on environment-based education against deforestation through forest conservation learning at school. The effort is a political act to influence people and government. The efforts as a bottom-up approach through the green schools in Sambas. This research aims to describe the effort undertaken by World Vision as INGO helped forests conservation in Sambas, West Kalimantan. Key words: World Vision, empowerment, Bottom-up Approach

Abstract

ABSTRACT   The Iran’s nuclear development program got a serious attention from the IAEA for their improprieties in the conduct of Uranium enrichment and the involvement of the Iranian military at the Parchin site. As a result of Iran’s non-compliance to the IAEA, the UN Security Council had given some resolutions to Iran. These resolutions containing sanctions and provisions for Iran to obey and to give access to IAEA for an inspections at the Parchin site. The Security Council resolutions were a manifestation of the strength of an international organization. The Security Council sanctions have made significant impacts on Iran. The Iranian government reviewed their policy to cooperate and grant an access for IAEA to inspect the Parchin site. This study aims to describe the power of the UN Security Council as manifested in their resolutions to force Iran to give an access for IAEA inspections on Iran’s nuclear development facility in Parchin in 2012. This study assessed by using the theory of organizational architecture and two concepts; legal rational organization and the power of IOs. The locus of this study is from 2006 to 2012. Abstract

ABSTRAK Defence Cooperation Program (DCP) merupakan sebuah kerjasama pertahanan yang dilaksanakan antara badan pertahanan Australia dan Timor Leste. Kerjasama ini ditujukan Australia untuk meningkatkan kapabilitas badan pertahanan nasional Timor Leste, bernama F-FDTL, lewat penyediaan bantuan keuangan dan pelatihan. Apabila dilihat secara sekilas, bisa dianggap bahwa Timor Leste merupakan pihak yang diuntungkan dengan pelaksanaan kerjasama ini, akan tetapi penelitian ini mendapati bahwa Australia tidak bekerjasama tanpa terdorong oleh kepentingan-kepentingannya sendiri. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa Australia memiliki kepentingan keamanan dalam dua area keamanan, yakni keamanan militer dan keamanan maritim, yang menjadi pembahasan utama dalam tulisan ini.   Kata kunci       : kepentingan keamanan nasional, keamanan militer, keamanan maritim, Australia, Timor Leste

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was made after an  issue about Japan’s interests through JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) with the loan aid to Indonesia in DSDP (Denpasar Sewerage Development Project) Project Bali, Indonesia. DSDP is the first sanitation project in Indonesia that the research was conducted by JICA and the loan aid was given from Japan. This mega project could say as one of many ways to accomplish Japan's interest in Indonesia. Many reasons make this research happen, some of them are the difference of Indonesia’s respond to both of the ex-colonial country, Netherland and Japan, through the aid project and also JICA persuasive approach that becoming suspicious if there is a bigger reason behind this realization of this project. The goals of this study is to show the reader about Japan’s interest clearly by the realization of this project. Keywords :JICA, DSDP,  National Interest, aid, state agency
