Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to find out the different effect of learning models using scientific approach on the students’ learning achievement viewed from the students’ reasoning ability. This study was a quasi-experimental research with a 3x3 factorial design. The population of research was all of the 8th graders of Junior High Schools throughout Tegal regency in the school year of 2014/2015. The sampling technique used was stratified cluster random sampling. The data analysis was conducted using a two-way anava with unbalanced cells at significance level of 5%. The results of research showed: (1) the learning achievement of students treated with PBL PS was equally good to that of those treated with GI PS, that of those treated with PBL PS and GI PS was better than that of those with TPS PS, (2) the learning achievement of students with high reasoning ability was equally good to that of those with medium one, the learning achievements of students with high and medium reasoning ability were better than that of those with low one, (3) in each reasoning ability, the learning achievement of students treated with PBL PS was equally good to that of those treated with GI PS, that of those treated with PBL PS and GI PS was better than that of those with TPS PS, and (4) in each learning model, the learning achievement of students with high reasoning ability was equally good to that of those with medium one, the learning achievements of students with high and medium reasoning ability were better than that of those with low one.Keywords: Scientific PBL (PBL PS), scientific GI (GI PS), scientific TPS (TPS PS) and reasoning ability.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of the learning models on learning achievement viewed from learning style types of the students. The learning models compared were PBL, ST, and direct learning. The type of the research was quasi-experimental research with 3x3 factorial design. The population of this research was the students in grade VIII junior high school in Nganjuk City on academic year of 2014/2015. The size of the sample was 274 students, which was taken by using stratified cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used for data collection were learning style questionnaire and mathematics achievement test. The hypothesis test used unbalance two ways analysis of variance. The results of the research were as follow. (1) Mathematics achievement of students taught by Problem Based Learning and Snowball Throwing gave better than they taught by direct learning, and mathematics achievement of students taught by Problem Based Learning and Snowball Throwing was produce the same learning achievement (2) The learning styles of visual, auditory or kinesthetic was not have an influence on learning achievement. (3) In each learning model, the students with the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles have an equal learning achievement in mathematics; (4) In each learning style, mathematics achievement of students taught by Problem Based Learning provide the same learning achievement with cooperative Throwing Snowball, and mathematics achievement of students taught by Problem Based Learning and Snowball Throwing was better than they taught by direct learning.Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Snowball Throwing, Direct Learning, Learning Style and Achievement.

Abstract

Abstract. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of learning models on learning achievement viewed from student learning creativity. The learning models compared were problem based learning, group investigation and think pair share. This research used the quasi-experimental research method. The population of the research was all of the students in Grade VIII of Junior Secondary Schools of Banyumas Regency. The samples of the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The sample of research consisted of 295 students. Techniques of collecting data used were documentation, test, and questionnaire. Balance test used one way ANOVA test. From the research, it can be concluded as follows. (1) Learning model of PBL gave better mathematics learning achievement than model of GI and TPS, model of GI gave better mathematics learning achievement than model of TPS, (2) students who have high creativity gave better mathematics learning achievement than students who have medium and low creativity, students who have medium creativity gave better mathematics learning achievement than students who have low creativity, (3) in the students with high and low creativity, the GI learning model gave the same learning achievement in mathematics with the PBL and TPS learning model, the PBL learning model gave better learning achievement in mathematics the TPS learning model. The PBL, GI and TPS learning model gave the same learning achievement in mathematics, (4) in the PBL and GI learning model, the learning achievement in mathematics of the students with high creativity were better than the students with medium and low creativity, the students with medium and low creativity gave same the learning achievement in mathematics. In the TPS learning model, the students with high and medium creativity gave the same learning achievement in mathematics, the learning achievement in mathematics of the students with the high and medium creativity were better than the students the low creativity.Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Group Investigation, Think Pair Share, Student Learning Creativity

Abstract

    Abstract: The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of learning models on the learning achievement in mathematics viewed from the multiple intelligences. The learning models compared were the PBL, DL, and PP models. Its population was all of the students in Grade VIII of State Junior Secondary Schools of Demak. The samples of research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The proposed hypotheses of research were tested by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of research are as follows. 1) The students instructed with the PBL model have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those instructed with the DL and PP models, and the students instructed with the DL model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those instructed with the PP model. 2) The students with the logical-mathematical intelligence have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the visual and interpersonal intelligences, and the students with the visual intelligence have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the interpersonal intelligence. 3) In the students with the logical-mathematical and visual intelligences, the PBL model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the DL, the DL model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the PP model, and the PBL model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the PP model. In the students with the interpersonal intelligence, the PBL model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the DL, the DL model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the PP model, but the PBL model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the PP model. 4) In the PBL, DL , and PP models, the students with the logical-mathematical intelligence have the same learning achievement in Mathematics as those with the visual intelligence, the students with the visual intelligence have the same learning achievement in Mathematics as those with the interpersonal intelligence, and the students with the logical-mathematical intelligence have the same learning achievement in Mathematics as those with the interpersonal intelligence.Keywords: Problem Based Learning (PBL), Discovery Learning (DL), Problem Possing (PP) and Multiple Intelligences.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to know the effect among learning models used cooperative learning of Co-op Co-op type with scientific approach, discovery learning (DL) with scientific approach, and  the problem based learning (PBL) with scientific approach. The research method was quasi experimental. The population was all students of grade VIII State Junior High School of district Ngawi Year of 2014/2015. Sampling was taken by stratified cluster random sampling technique. The hypothesis test used two way analysis of variance with unbalanced cell. The results of the research were as follows. (1) The mathematics learning achievement of students treated with Co-op Co-op type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach was better than that of those treated with DL learning model with scientific approach and those treated with PBL learning model with scientific approach, while that of those treated with DL learning model with scientific approach was as good as that of those treated with PBL learning model with scientific approach. (2) The mathematics learning achievement of students with high learning creativity was better than that of those with medium and low ones, while that of those with medium was better than that of those with low one. (3) In Co-op Co-op type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach, the learning achievements of the students with high, medium and low learning creativities were the same. In DL learning model with scientific approach, the students with high learning creativity had mathematics learning achievement as good as those with those with medium one, while those with high and medium learning creativities had better learning achievement than those with low on. In PBL learning model with scientific approach, the students with high and low creativities had mathematics learning achievement as good as that of those with medium one, while the students with high learning creativity had better learning achievement than those with low one. (4) The students with high and medium learning creativities treated with Co-op Co-op type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach had mathematics learning achievement as good as those treated with DL with scientific approach and those treated with PBL with scientific approach. The students with low learning creativity treated with Co-op Co-op type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach had mathematics learning achievement better than those treated with DL with scientific approach, while those treated with Co-op Co-op type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach had mathematics learning achievement with scientific approach and those treated with DL with scientific approach had learning achievement as good as that of those treated with PBL with scientific approach.Keywords: Co-op Co-op, DL, PBL, scientific approach, student learning creativity

Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of this research were to determine: 1) which students have better achievement in learning mathematics among Macromedia Flash and PowerPoint used as learning media 2) which students have better achievement in learning mathematics, ones with high, medium, or low learning motivation, 3) at each leaning by using media (Macromedia Flash and PowerPoint) which students have better achievement in learning mathematics, ones with high, medium, or low learning motivation, 4) at each of categories of learning motivation (high, medium, and low) which students have better achievement in learning mathematics, ones who are use Macromedia Flash or PowerPoint as learning media. The research was a quasi experimental. The population of this research was all students of grade VIII Junior High School of the Surakarta City, academic year 2011/2012. The samples in this research were 177 students taken by stratified cluster random sampling. Instruments used to collect data were mathematics achievement instrument test and questionnaires of student’s learning motivation instrument. Data analysis technique used hypothesis test with two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells resume test of multiple comparisons. From the results of the analysis, can be concluded that: 1) the learning achievement in mathematics of the students who were learning mathematics with macromedia flash were better than with powerpoint as learning media, 2) the learning achievement in mathematics of the students with the high learning motivation were better than the ones with the medium and low learning motivation, however the students with the medium  learning motivation were better  than the ones with the low learning motivation, 3) in students with high learning motivation, students who use macromedia flash have a learning achievement were better than using powerpoint. Students with medium and low learning motivation have the same learning achievement, using either the macromedia flash or powerpoint, 4) in mathematics learning with macromedia flash, students who have high motivation have better math achievement of students with medium and low motivation. But the students who have medium and low motivation the achievement were equally as good. In mathematics learning used powerpoint, students who have high, medium and low learning motivation have the same learning achievement.Keywords: Learning, Macromedia Flash, PowerPoint, Motivation, Achievement Learning Mathematics.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to determine the influence of learning models using scientific approach with the students achievement viewed from the student activities. The learning models compared are TGT, NHT, and PBL. This research is a quasi experimental research. The population is all students of eight grade of state Junior High School in Bojonegoro Regency in the academic year of 2014/2015. The samples are 300 students. The methods of data collection are documentation, questionaire, and test. The technique of data analysis used is two ways analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. Based on the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that : (1) The students’ learning achievement by using cooperative learning model TGT, NHT, and PBL with the scientific approach had the same learning achievement. (2) The students’ learning achievement of students with high learning activity had better learning achievement than students with medium and low learning activity, while students with medium and low learning activity had the same result. (3) For category high, medium, and low learning activities, the learning achievement of students who were given by cooperative learning model TGT, NHT,  and PBL with scientific approach had the same result. (4.a) For category cooperative learning model TGT and PBL with scientific approach, the students’ learning achievement with high,  medium and low learning activities had the same learning achievement. (4.b) For category cooperative learning model NHT with scientific approach the students’ learning achievement with high learning activity had better learning achievement than medium and low learning activities. Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of learning models on the high order mathematical thinking skill viewed from the emotional quotient of the students. The learning models compared were PBL model, GI learning model, and direct learning model. This research used the quasi experimental research. Its population was all of the students in Grade VII of State Junior Secondary Schools in Sragen. The samples of the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique and consisted of 269 students. They were grouped into three classes, namely: 90 students in Experimental Class 1, 90 students in Experimental Class 2, and 89 students in Control Class. The instruments to collect the data were test of high order mathematical thinking skill, and emotional quotient questionnaire. The proposed hypotheses of the research were analyzed by using the two way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research were as follows. (1) PBL model results better high order mathematical thinking skill than GI learning model, and direct learning model, GI learning model results better high order mathematical thinking skill than direct learning model. (2) Emotional quotient gives students different effect on high order mathematical thinking skill of students. The students with the high emotional quotient have better high order mathematical thinking skill than those with the moderate emotional quotient and those with the low emotional quotient, the students with the moderate emotional quotient have better high order mathematical thinking skill than those with the low emotional quotient. (3) There was not an interaction of the aforementioned learning models and the categories of the emotional quotient on the high order mathematical thinking skill of the students.Keywords: PBL model, GI learning model, direct learning model, high order mathematical thinking skill and emotional quotient

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to know the effect of the learning models on the learning achievement of quadrangle viewed from the multiple intellegences of the students. The learning models compared were the cooperative learning model type Talking Stick, the cooperative learning model type Talking Bread, and the direct learning models. The type of research was quasi-experimental research with factorial design 3×3. Population of this research was all students of State Junior High Schools in Karanganyar. The sampling was done by stratified cluster random sampling. The total samples in this research were 271 students (91 students for Talking Bread class, 90 students for talking stick class, and 90 students for direct learning class). The hypothesis test used two ways analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. Based on the hyotesis test, the research finding were : (1) learning activity using cooperative learning model type talking bread produced better echievement than using cooperative learning model type talking stick or direct learning. Learning activity using cooperative learning model type Talking Stick produced better than direct learning. (2) student with linguistic intelligence, space intelligence, and interpersonal intelligence produced the same achievement. (3) the usage of cooperative learning model type Talking Bread, cooperative learning model type Talking Stick, and direct learning produced the same achievement among the students with linguistic intelligence, space intelligence, and interpersonal intelligence. (4) toward students with linguistic intelligence, space intelligence, and interpersonal intelligence, cooperative learning model type Talking Bread produced better achievement than cooperative learning model type Talking Stick or direct learning, while cooperative learning model type Talking Stick produced the same achievement with direct learning model.Keywords: cooperative learning model, Talking Bread, Talking Stick, direct learning, student multiple intelligence, mathematic learning achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of the research were to determine the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from anxiety mathematics learning. The learning models compared were direct, PBL with scientific approach, and DL with scientific approach. This was quasi-experimental research with 3x3 factorial design. The population were all students of Junior High School in Banyumas. The samples are the students of SMPN 1 Patikraja, SMPN 2 Patikraja, and SMPN 2 Kalibagor, taken by using stratified cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used were mathematics achievement test and anxiety mathematics learning. The data analysis technique used unbalanced two ways anova. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded as follows. (1) The students receiving PBL with scientific approach to DL with scientific approach achievement than those receiving direct learning model. The students receiving PBL with scientific approach and DL with scientific approach had the same learning outcome. (2) Students with lower levels of mathematics anxiety learning had better learning outcome than students with medium and high anxiety level. Students’ learning anxiety level on math was better in their learning outcome than students with high levels of learning anxiety mathematics. (3) In each group, the anxiety level of students learning mathematics, learning model PBL with scientific approach and learning model DL with scientific approach provides better performance than direct learning model, learning model PBL with scientific approach produces the same learning outcome with learning model DL with scientific approach. (4) In each of the learning model, students with lower levels of anxiety level of mathematics learning outcome had better math outcome than students with medium and high math anxiety level learning, students learn math anxiety levels were to have better learning outcome than students with high levels of anxiety learn mathematics.Keywords: Direct learning model, PBL learning model with scientific approach, DL learning model with scientific approach, Math Anxiety Learning
