Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the number of egg masses laid by their brood and the population density of Chironomidae larvae in waters. The laboratory experiment was carried out by spreading Chironomidae egg masses with 4 density levels and 3 replications: (A) 3 egg masses / container (B) 6 egg masses / container (C) 9 egg masses / container and (D) 12 egg masses /container. Chironomidae larvae population counted after 8 days of maintenance. Based on this study, population densities of Chironomidae larvae ranged from 2576 to 5817 individuals / m2 with body lengths ranging from 9.067 to 14.265 mm. Increasing the number of egg masses were laid, will decrease the density of larval Chironomidae follow cubic regression model Y = 18287 - 443.6 X + 4.015 X2 - 0.01143 X3

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of adaptability of Tambakan (Helostoma temminckii) were caught from Sebangau river through the process of domestication, and to know the stages in the domestication process. Study was done from April to July 2016. The research method used was observation. For domestification, 500 fishes were reared in plactic tank with the size of 3x2x1 m, and 75 cm of water depth. Feed were given as much as 3% of the fish weight/day, and feeding was done twice a day (morning and afternoon). Survival rate (SR) of fishes during the rearing period amounted to 81%. Feed Conversion Ratio obtained was 3.3. The average weight gains of fishes were 3-4 g / fish every two weekly sampling. The condition of water quality of domestification tank were dissolved oxygen (DO) 3.6 mg/L, pH 7.2 and temperature 29 0C. Key words : Domestication, Helostoma temminckii, water quality.

Abstract

This research aims to know the survival rate of Climbing Perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae fed with live and artificial feed. This study used a Randomized Complete Design with three treatments and three replicates. The treatments were feeding of egg yolks (A), feeding of live feed/plankton (B) and feeding of the factory feed (C). The survival rate of Climbing Perch larvae obtained from the highest treatment B (37.33%), followed by treatment A (23.66%) and treatment C (0.00%). Key words : Anabas testudineus, larvae, live feed, survival rate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of continued substitution of tofu on basal feed (BR-2) on the performance of broiler chickens at the age of 4-6 weeks (Phase Finisher), and to determine the level of substitution of tofu on basal feed (BR-2) to giving the appearance of broiler chickens at the age of 4-6 weeks (Phase Finisher). The study was conducted using completely randomized design (CRD) with A = 100% treatment of basal feed (BR-2), B = 15% + 85% tofu basal feed (BR -2), C = 30% + 70% tofu basal feed (BR-2), and D = 45% + 55% tofu basal feed (BR-2), each treatment was repeated 5 times so that there are 20 units trial. Variable observed included weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion. The results showed substitution of tofu on a basal feed affect the appearance, that were body weight gain, feed intake. and feed conversion at the age of 4 weeks. No effect on feed conversion at the age of 5 and 6 weeks. Treatment A and treatment B were able to give the appearance of good growth.

Abstract

One of the problems in the cultivation of carp (Cyprinus carpio) is disease attack caused by bacteria and viruses. Disease prevention and prevention efforts can be done by increasing the immunity of fish. This study aims to determine the dose of noni (Morinda citrifolia) leaf extract effective to improve non-specific response and survival of carp. Experimental study using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications with treatment A (0 g / kg of feed), treatment B (5 g / kg of feed), C treatment (10 g / kg of feed) The addition of 5g / kg of feed showed the best result to increase leukocyte and survival among other treatments during 28 days maintenance .

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth and survival of snakehead fish (Channa striata) seeds fed with different types of feeds. The experimental design used completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replicates that were fed with earthworms, snails, and pellets. The results showed that the different types of feeds very significant effect on the growth of snakehead fish seed. Absolute weight growth of earthworms treatment, snails treatment and pellets treatment were 0.26 g, 0.12 g and 0.08 g respectively. The survival of snakehead fish seeds during the study were 100% in all treatments. Water quality during the research was still in range for growth and survival of snakehead fish seeds. Key words : Channa striata, earthworms, snails, pellets, growth.

Abstract

This experiment provides an overview on the stocking density of catfish. Its purpose is to know the influence of stocking density variation on the growth of Striped catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) which is maintained in cage. The best results in this experiment was the stocking density of 10 tail/cage. Key words : Striped catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus), Growth, stocking density, cage.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of rice bran fermented with rumen fluid contents on the performances of male quail (Coturnix coturnix japonioca). This research was designd by Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Sixty (60) quail were grouped into four and five replication, each replication consists of three quails. The treatment were P0 (feed basal 100%), P1 (feed basal 95% + rice bran fermentation 5%), P2 (feed basal 90% + rice bran fermentation 10%), P3 (feed basal 85% + rice bran fermentation 15%). The results showed that each treatments were not significant differences on feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The treatment of fermented rice bran 5% for quail males, give positive response to observed variables.

Abstract

Feed that best suits the needs of the larvae is a natural feed (plankton), because it fits the mouth opening of larvae. Natural feed is believed to increase the relative growth and survival of larvae, contains highly nutritious and endo-enzym and micro-sized that fit to the larval mouth opening. Natural feed obtained from fertilization carried out in the pool with organic fertilizer (chicken manure) and cabbage leaves. This study aims to determine the growth of Climbing perch fish larvae fed with the natural feed. This study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were consisting of A (without water filtering), B (filtering 20 liters of water), C (filtering 30 liters of water), and D (filtering 40 liters of water). The sample in this research was the larvae of the Climbing perch fish (3 days after hatching). The results showed that the giving of natural feed from fertilization provided significant effect on the treatment. Feeding with natural feed from filtering 40 liters of water had more plenty and variety of natural food then other treatments. The relative growth and survival rate of fish larvae were 6.3 % and 87.9 % respectively. Key words : Natural Feed, Climbing perch larvae, growth, survival rate.

Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of breeding sex-ratio eggs storage length, and interaction of both treatments on hatchability of quail eggs. The experiment used Completely Randomized Design with 5x3 factorial patterns, with two replications. The first treatment factor was the variation of sex ratio (1: 1; 1 : 2; 1 : 3; 1 : 4 and 1 : 5), and the second treatment was the eggs storage length (1, 4 and 7 days). The results showed that sex ratio, eggs storage length, and interaction between sex-ratio and eggs storage length has no significant effect on eggs weight, fertility, hatchability and DOQ weight (P> 0,05). In general, the average of egg weight was 10.52 g, fertility of eggs on day 7th was 47.33%, hatchability was 77.28% and DOQ weight was 6.84 g. Keywords : sex-ratio, eggs storage length, hatchability, quail birds.
