Abstract

This study aims to determine effect of boiling time, concentration of curing materials: salt, palm sugar, ginger and lemon grass, and interaction between boiling time and concentration of curing materials on the hedonic quality test of shredded broiler chicken. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial pattern with 2 factors namely factor boiling time (P) with 3 levels of treatment and factor concentration of curing materials (C). The observed parameters include colour, smell and flavour of shredded broiler chicken performed using the panels to assign values of the samples characteristic. The research showed the hedonic quality test of colour and smell characteristics of shredded broiler chicken had no significant effect, while the hedonic quality test of flavour characteristic had very significant effect. Key words : Boiling time, curing, hedonic test, shredded broiler chicken.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the rate of growth of Sangkuriang Catfish that kept in tarpaulin pond with the provision of probiotics EM4. This study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 3 treatment with 3 replications The treatments used in this study were :Treatment A = Dose EM4 given as much as 15ml/liter of water, Treatment B = Dose EM4 given as much as 10 ml/liter of water and Treatment C = not given EM4. The results of this study showed that better treatment were the treatment of A and B. While for the C treatment slightly inhibited for the growth of Sangkuriang Catfish. Water quality of tarpaulin ponds during the maintenance of Sangkuriang Catfish shows the condition of temperature, DO and pH that could still been tolerated and feasible for the growth of Sangkuriang Catfish. Key words : Sangkuriang Catfish, probiotic EM4, dose, tarpaulin pond, water quality.

Abstract

This study was conducted to obtain the effects of taro corm meal addition level on quality of elephant grass silage. There were four levels of taro corm meal (DM basis) i.e. 0% (control), 5% (P1), 10% (P2), and 15% (P3) (w/w). Each treatments consisted of 5 replications. Silage were placed in plastic bags as silo. This study was designed in Completely Randomized Design. The observation conducted to physical quality and chemical composition of silage. The physical quality of silage were color, odor, texture, and growth of fungi. Chemical composition of silage consisted of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), extract ether (EE), and Nitrogen Free Extract (NFE). The study showed that silage from P0, P1, P2, and P3 had brownish green color, acid odor, non-sticky texture, and no fungus found. The addition of taro corm meal significantly affected DM, OM, CP, CF, EE, and NFE content of elephant grass silage (P

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effectiveness of various probiotics product on the growth and egg production of quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). The study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatment 5 replicates. The results showed that use of various probiotics product very significant effect on feed intake at fifth week. The use of various probiotics product effectively improve body weight gain at first week and fifth week. The efficiency of feed use is indicated on feed use of probiotics at fifth week. Various probiotics product effective in improving hen day up 66.43 to 67.62% compared with no probiotics. Key words : Quail, probiotics, growth, production.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain innovative diversified products that are highly nutritious with the physical quality that can be recommended. The research activities include physical test by using folding test. Folding test is one of the test of fish gel quality (Kamaboko) which is done by cutting the sample with a thickness of 3 mm. The sample pieces are placed between the thumb and forefinger, than folded to observe wheter or not there is a crack in the fish gel (Kamaboko). Testing conducted by 10 panelists. In this study using the 4 treatment such as : Treatment O without the addition of corn starch (control) + tapioca flour 10 %, treatment A with addition of corn starch 2 % + tapioca flour 8 %, treatment B with addition of corn starch 6 % + tapioca flour 4 %, and treatment C with addition of corn starch 10 %. The highest folding test value is in the treatment A with the composition of corn starch 2 % and tapioca flour 8 %. Key words : Kamaboko, eel fish, tapioca flour, corn starch

Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the herbal plants which effective to increase the survival of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) seed. The treatments of this experiment were addition of extract ciplukan leaf, sweet potato leaf, betel leaf, and without addition extract herbal as control. The results of this study showed that the use of extract of ciplukan leaf, and sweet potato leaf 5ml/L in rearing media during acclimatization could increase the survival of tilapia seed. Key words : Oreochromis niloticus, ciplukan leaf, sweet potato leaf, betel leaf, survival rate.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine optimal stocking density of Climbing perch larvae were reared in container. This study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications that was stocking density 10 larva/L (A), 20 larva /L (B), and 30 larva /L (C). The observed parameters were the survival of the Climbing perch larvae and water quality include water temperature, DO (dissolved oxygen), and pH. The results showed the highest survival rate in treatment A in the amount of 55%, followed by treatment B 45.8%, and the lowest by treatment C 38%. Water quality parameter were in the tolerance range of Climbing perch larvae with temperature 27.1 – 27.0OC, DO (dissolved oxygen) 3.8 - 5.3 mg / L and pH 4.6 – 6.6. Key words : Stocking density, survival rate, Anabas testudineus larvae.

Abstract

This research studied to know the effect of feed cassava flour (Manihot utilissima Pohl.). This research was designed by Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and Variant Analysis (ANOVA), if the obtained data showed significant differences then tested further using HSD test α = 5%. Four (4) treatment that P0 (feed control treatment), P1 (feed treatment 95% + 5% cassava flour), P2 (feed treatment 90% + 10% cassava flour) and P3 (feed treatment 85% + 15% cassava flour) and five replication each replication consists 4 quail. The result showed not significant (P>0.05) on all treatments, but the substitution 5% of cassava flours still consumed by quail without rising negative effects. Key words : Cassava flour, feed, performance, quail males.

Abstract

These experiments provide information on artificial feed, which is needed by fish in its growth. The goal is to determine the effect of artificial feeding with a different percentage of the growth of catfish (Pangasius pangasius) maintained in a plastic container. The best results in this experiment is the artificial feeding 7% of the protein content of 25-30%, fat 5-7%, carbohydrates 4-6%, and DE 2.600 to 2.800 Kcal / gram.
