Abstract

The research objective is to develop a science and social science student worksheet (LKPD IPAS) oriented toward Assessment as Learning (AaL) to enhance the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model. The research population comprises fourth-grade students from the Ki Hajar Dewantara Cluster in Tanjung Harapan in Central Lampung. The research sample includes fourth-grade students from SDN 1 Tanjung Harapan. Data collection was carried out using valid and reliable test instruments. The results indicate that: (1) the AaL-oriented LKPD IPAS is valid, as demonstrated by the validation results from content experts (0.6240), media experts (0.7639), and language experts (0.6250); (2) the LKPD IPAS is practical for use, as indicated by the practicality percentages from teachers (96%) and students (91.9%); and (3) the LKPD IPAS is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills, as evidenced by an N-Gain score of 0.6351. Therefore, it can be concluded that the AaL-oriented LKPD IPAS is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing the critical thinking abilities of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement an integrated learning model combining Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Guided Inquiry Learning (GIL) to enhance science literacy in students within the advanced science education course. The study was conducted to students from the Elementary School Teacher Education Program at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas, focusing on the topic of States of Matter. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test – post-test control group design was employed, where the control group received conventional teaching methods, and the experimental group engaged in the integrated PjBL-GIL model. The results reveal a significant difference in science literacy improvement between the groups. The experimental group, using the integrated PjBL-GIL model, showed a greater improvement (22.4%) compared to the control group (7.7%). Statistical analysis using a two-sample t-test confirmed the significance of this difference, with a t-value of 5.16 and a p-value of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group. The effect size, measured by Cohen's d, was 2.53, indicating a large effect. ANCOVA results showed that even after controlling for baseline differences, the experimental group still demonstrated significantly higher post-test scores (p-value = 0.000). Furthermore, Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between collaboration and science literacy improvement (r = 0.62, p = 0.01), emphasising the importance of collaboration in enhancing learning outcomes. These findings suggest that the integrated PjBL-GIL model is effective in improving critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the application of scientific concepts. And it is recommended that this model be expanded in science education in Indonesia to further improve the quality of learning and students' science literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement a digital flipbook to improve the learning outcomes of IPAS grade IV elementary school students. The research was conducted on grade IV students at SDN 026560 Binjai on the material of the form of substances and their changes. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) study with a 4-D development model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The research subjects were fourth-grade students who studied in the odd semester of 2024/2025. The process of developing digital flipbooks to improve the learning outcomes of grade IV students consists of 3 stages of development: the defining stage, the design stage, and the development stage. Based on these stages, the validity of the digital flipbook developed by the researcher was obtained, with the research results from the validity test of media experts in the 93.3% convenient category, material experts of 92.9% in the convenient category, linguists in the 76% valid category, and linguists of 88% in the convenient category. The overall average value of the validity of digital flipbooks is 87.3% with a convenient category, which means that digital flipbooks are suitable to use.

Abstract

The present study is motivated by ninth-grade students' low science learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 2 Labuhan Deli. The study aimed to improve students' science learning outcomes using the concept map method. The research instruments used in this study were observation and test questions. The data analysis shows an improvement in students' learning outcomes. In the pre-test on dynamic electricity, only seven students (33.3%) achieved a score of 70 or above, while 14 students (66.6%) did not. The average pre-test score was 62. After being taught using the concept map method, in the post-test, 18 students (85.7%) were deemed to have achieved mastery if their scores were equal to or above the minimum passing grade of 70, while three students (14.3%) did not achieve mastery. Thus, applying the concept map learning method to dynamic electricity material is quite effective because it can improve student learning outcomes. The N-gain test data calculation also yielded an N-Gain score of 46.01%, which falls under the Effective N-Gain Interpretation Category. -Gain Interpretation Category, where a score of 46–75 is interpreted as sufficiently effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Ulos, as one of the traditional fabrics of Batak Toba, can be used as a learning resource, especially for geometry. Every motif and colour on ulos has particular meanings and messages related to beliefs, myths, history, and Batak cultural values. Need help from Desmos to visualise the geometric concepts found in ulos. This research aims to develop a learning media using the Desmos application integrated with Ethnomathematics-Ulos to enhance mathematical literacy. The research method used is Research and Development with the ADDIE model. The research instrument uses a rating scale and an essay test. The results of developing material and language on geometry obtained a percentage of 93,69% with a very valid feasibility category. The results of product validation by practitioners as media experts got a very valid category with a rate of eligibility of 91,91%. Moreover, the teacher evaluation results got an efficient category with a percentage of 92,88%. The N-Gain value is 0,80 > 0,7, in the “High” category, meaning that the learning media effectively improve students' mathematical literacy skills.
