Abstract

Abstract. The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the use of mathematics learning media assisted by the Lectora Inspire software to improve the number sense ability of students, (2) to describe the increase in the ability of students' number sense through mathematics learning media assisted by Lectora Inspire software. The ability of the number sense studied is related to ordinary fractional material. Indicator of the number sense ability in question is understanding the basic meaning of fractions, understanding the effect of operations on fractions and using appropriate calculations. This study is a classroom action research, carried out at SD Swasta Kartika I-2 Medan in the academic year 2018/2019. Based on the results of the study showed that the mathematics learning media assisted by the Lectora Inspire software in the developed class V SD fraction material was declared feasible to use because it could affect the students' number sense ability. Based on the results of the final test in cycle I, there were 15 students (41.67%) achieving KKM scores, while the final test results in cycle II obtained 31 students (86.11%) achieved the KKM score. Based on the results of the end of cycle I and II tests obtained as many as 16 students (44.44%) experienced an increase in the number sense ability related to fraction material. The results of the observation sheet for teacher and student activities in the first and second cycles are in good category. Thus it can be stated that there is an increase in the number sense ability of students through mathematics learning media assisted by the Lectora Inspire software.Keywords: Number Sense, Mathematics Learning Media, Lectora Inspire Software

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to find out what cooperative learning method is most effective in improving students’ activity and motivation in Statistics subject. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of this study are the 5th semester students of PGSD Study Program with total number 35 students. Instruments used consist of: (1) Observation sheet of learning implementation; (2) Observation sheet of students’ activity in learning with assessment on students’ oral activities, visual activities, listening activities, writing activities and emotional activities; (3) Observation sheets of group effectiveness with assessment on the efficiency aspects of problem solving and member participation; (4) Questionnaire of motivation to find out to which extent the learning can improve student's motivation which is seen from the students perception of their satisfaction in learning. The research results show that when PBM learning model is used in cycle 1 and Jigsaw learning model is used in cycle 2, Jigsaw is better than PBM learning model.Keywords: Problem-based learning model, Jigsaw Learning Model, activity and learning motivation.

Abstract

This research was primarily carried out to prove that the implementation of Talking Stick method could improve students’ English speaking skill and to describe the students’ responses to the implementation of Talking Stick method in the learning teaching processes of English speaking skill. This research is Classroom Action Research (henceforth, CAR) which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four meetings. The research subject of this CAR are the fifth grade students of State Primary School 028226 Binjai Class V-1 in the Academic Year of 2019/2020. There are 33 students as the research subject. The analysis of quantitative data showed that the students’ mean score increased continually from 55,63 in the pretest, 66,36 in the posttest of cycle 1, to 76,81 in the posttest of cycle 2. The analysis of qualitative data showed that the learning teaching processes of English speaking skill through the implementation of Talking Stick method ran very well. The students were more active, and motivated to learn English speaking skill. The class atmosphere was more alive and enjoyable after Talking Stick method was implemented in the English speaking classes. It is advisable that English teachers of primary school students apply Talking Stick method as one of alternatives to improve their students’ English speaking skill.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Lectora Inspire assisted mathematics learning media on the number sense ability of elementary school fifth grade students. This research is a development research using 4-D design that is Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate or adapted to 4-D model that is defining, designing, developing and distributing. The test sample was the fifth grade students of Medan Kartika I-2 Private Elementary School. Products developed after being declared valid by experts / experts, then tested. Product validation results are stated to be very valid. Based on the results of the validation of learning materials by 93.82%, instructional design by 91.03%, media experts on Lectora Inspire by 87.5%, student responses to Lectora Inspire amounted to 95.57% and the teacher's response to the Lectora Inspire amounted to 89.56 % in very good category. Based on the average value of the data gain the ability of the student's number sense is 0.70 in the high category. Increased ability of student number sense is 0.27. From the results of the analysis, it can be stated that by using Lectora Inspire assisted mathematics learning media in learning related to fractional materials can increase the number sense ability of students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi atau mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa berdasarkan level teori Van Hiele pada materi segiempat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2021. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah empat orang siswa kelas VII SMP RK Deli Murni Bandar Baru yang merupakan perwakilan dari tiap level teori Van Hiele dengan cara memberikan soal VHGT (Van Hiele Geometry Test). Subjek penelitian diberi tes kemampuan representasi matematis dan kemudian diwawancara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis didapatkan bahwa kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dengan tingkat berpikir previsualisasi (level pra 0) memiliki kemampuan representasi visual, namun memiliki kemampuan representasi simbolik dan kemampuan representasi verbal yang masih lemah dan berada pada kategori kurang. Siswa dengan tingkat berpikir visualisasi (level 0) memiliki kemampuan representasi visual, memiliki kemampuan representasi verbal yang masih lemah dan tidak memiliki kemampuan representasi simbolik dan berada pada kategori kurang. Siswa dengan tingkat berpikir analisis (level 1) memiliki kemampuan representasi visual dan kemampuan representasi simbolik, namun memiliki kemampuan representasi verbal yang masih lemah dan berada pada kategori tinggi. Siswa dengan tingkat berpikir deduksi informal (level 2) memiliki kemampuan representasi visual, kemampuan representasi simbolik dan kemampuan representasi verbal dan berada pada kategori sangat tinggi.

Abstract

This research was primarily carried out to prove that the combination of Presentation, Practice, and Production (henceforth, PPP) method and Talking Stick method could improve students’ English speaking skill and to describe the students’ responses towards the combination of PPP method and Talking Stick method in the learning teaching processes of English speaking skill. This research is Classroom Action Research (henceforth, CAR) which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four meetings. The research subject of this CAR are the fifth grade students of State Primary School 028226 Binjai Class V-1 in the Academic Year of 2019/2020.There are 33 students as the research subject. The analysis of quantitative data showed that the students’ mean score increased continually from 55,36 in the pretest, 66,72 in the posttest of cycle 1, to 77,27 in the posttest of cycle 2. The analysis of qualitative data showed that the learning teaching processes of English speaking skill through the combination of PPP method and Talking Stick method ran very well. The students were more active, and motivated to learn English speaking skill. The learning atmosphere was more alive and enjoyable after PPP method and Talking Stick method were implemented in the English speaking classes. It is advisable that English teachers of primary school students combine PPP method and Talking Stick method in order to improve their students’ English speaking skill

Abstract

This research aimed to assess and determine the relationship of landek karo traditional dance and the character education among children aged 9 to 13 years old in the relocation area of Mount Sinabung, Siosar Village, Pertibi Lama, Kecamatan Merek, Kabupaten Karo, North Sumatra. The population of this research were 156 children aged 9 to 13 years old in Siosar village. The samples were chosen by purposive sampling; in this case the researcher selected 35 children aged 9 to 13 years old. They were the dancers of the Siosar Festival event in September 2019 in Siosar village. This research utilized a quantitative method of survey, which aimed to assess the results of the research by using t-test hypothesis testing. The findings of this research indicated that the average score of tcount for landek karo traditional dance was 24.843 which was greater than ttable namely 1.683 with  high category,  while the average score of tcount for character education was 24.843 which was also greater than ttable namely 1.683 with high category. Therefore, Ho was accepted that there was a relationship between the landek karo traditional dance and the character education of children in Siosar village, Kabupaten Karo.

Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan sebuah gambaran penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Inkuiri terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian tersebut dilakukan di SD Negeri 101735 Sei Semayang Kecamatan sunggal pada bulan Juni. Subyek penelitian melibatkan 50 siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain True Experimenal yang dilaksanakan pada dua kelas yaitu kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah soal pilihan berganda. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji “t”. Hasil perhitungan statistik menunjukkan hasil belajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Inkuiri termasuk dalam kategori baik dengan nilai rata-rata 81,44, sedangkan hasil belajar tanpa menggunakan model pembelajaran termasuk dalam kategori cukup dengan nilai rata-rata 66,72. Selanjutnya, pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan thitung  adalah 4,141 kemudian di konsultasikan dengan ttabel pada taraf signifikan ∞ = 0,05 dengan 23 adalah 1,714. Oleh karena itu thitung yang diperoleh lebih besar dari ttabel yaitu 4,141 > 1,714, terbukti bahwa hipotesis nihil atau (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Inkuiri berpengaruh signifikansi terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 101735 Sei Semayang Kecamatan Sunggal Tahun Pembelajaran 2020/2021. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran ini tepat digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran, khususnya dalam mempengaruhi hasil belajar lebih baik.

Abstract

This community service is primarily aimed to give English speaking skill training to primary school students at Tunggurono village, Binjai by applying Presentation, Practice, and Production (PPP) method. This community service was conducted for two days, namely on Saturday, 05th October 2019 - Sunday, 06th October 2019 at 03.30 p.m.-05.00 p.m. The participants of this community service are the primary school students (six-twelve years old children) at Tunggurono village, Binjai. There are 14 students as the participants. PPP method is one of alternatives which can be applied to create an effective and interesting atmosphere of learning teaching English speaking skill. The application of this method functions to connect new information got by the students with their knowledge. Therefore, this method gives chance to the students to apply and develop their ideas or opinions critically and communicatively. It is expected that the primary school students at Tunggurono village, Binjai are more motivated and confident in speaking English and have chance to enhance their English speaking skill.
