Abstract

This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a randomized pretest–posttest control group design. The research subjects were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The results revealed significant differences between classes implementing inquiry-based learning and those using conventional learning. The mean N-Gain score of students’ science process skills was highest in Primary School A, reaching 0.29, while the lowest N-Gain score was found in Primary School C at 0.15. Regarding the indicators of science process skills, the highest improvement in the experimental class was observed in the hypothesis-formulation aspect, whereas the lowest improvement occurred in the questioning aspect. In the control class, the highest indicator was also found in the hypothesis aspect, while the lowest was in the observation aspect. Overall, the science process skills of students in the experimental class demonstrated higher N-Gain values than those in the control class. These findings indicate that inquiry-based learning significantly improves students’ science process skills compared to conventional learning methods.

Abstract

The research aimed to examine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on improving students’ retention in science learning. Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a learning concept that helps teachers connect learning materials with real-life situations, enabling students to relate knowledge to their everyday experiences. The CTL model emphasizes the presentation of real and meaningful contexts in the classroom. Retention refers to students’ ability to store and recall information after the learning process has taken place. This research employed a one-group pretest–posttest design to analyze the data. A retention test (retest) was administered twelve weeks after the posttest to measure students’ retention. The results showed that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model had a significant effect on students’ retention in science learning among fifth-grade students at SDN 130 Pekanbaru City. The mean score of students’ retention in this study reached 130%, which was categorized as “very good.” Furthermore, the findings indicate that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model dominantly influences students’ memory and retention in science learning.

Abstract

This study investigates peer coaching as an alternative approach to improving teachers’ ability in conducting science learning in the classroom. The research was conducted in Pekanbaru with a total sample of eight teachers, who were divided into experimental and control groups. The results of the study indicate that peer coaching has a positive impact on the success of teachers’ inquiry practices, enabling them to implement and integrate all essential aspects of the science learning process more effectively.

Abstract

Guru, murid, dan bahan ajar merupakan unsur dominan dalam proses pembelajaran yang menentukan kualitas dan efektivitas kegiatan belajar mengajar. Kualitas pengajaran yang baik akan meningkatkan keefektifan proses pembelajaran dan berdampak langsung pada pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA kelas V SD Negeri 099 Pekanbaru yang berjumlah 34 orang, terdiri atas 14 siswa laki-laki dan 20 siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan one-group pretest–posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap pretest, siswa yang mencapai rentang nilai 60–100 berjumlah 5 orang atau sekitar 15%, sedangkan pada posttest meningkat menjadi 25 orang siswa atau sekitar 74%. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis masalah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA kelas V SD Negeri 099 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA yang dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 99 Pekanbaru pada semester ganjil Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013 dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 30 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain one-group pretest–posttest melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Permasalahan penelitian didasarkan pada rendahnya hasil belajar IPA siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh hanya 5 siswa (17%) yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM), sedangkan 25 siswa (83%) belum mencapai KKM. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi lembar observasi, tes hasil belajar IPA, dan angket. Hasil analisis awal menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar IPA siswa tergolong rendah. Sebagai upaya pemecahan masalah, diterapkan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas siswa dan guru memberikan respons yang baik dan positif terhadap penerapan model CTL dalam pembelajaran IPA. Nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 50,0 meningkat menjadi 93,8 pada posttest. Hasil uji statistik menggunakan uji t memperoleh nilai t hitung sebesar 14,61, sehingga hipotesis penelitian diterima. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest setelah penerapan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas V SD Negeri 99 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis melalui pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) pada mahasiswa Program Studi PGSD semester V dalam mata kuliah Statistik Pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas dan kreativitas dosen serta mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan pada setiap siklus pembelajaran. Selain itu, hasil belajar mata kuliah Statistik Pendidikan pada mahasiswa semester V Tahun Akademik 2012/2013 juga mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan, ditandai dengan hampir 50% mahasiswa memperoleh nilai sangat memuaskan. Sebelum tindakan dilakukan, berdasarkan hasil tes awal masih terdapat 7 mahasiswa yang berada pada kategori nilai kurang. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) atau Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR) pada mata kuliah Statistik Pendidikan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study employed a correlational research design aimed at determining the contribution of leg muscle explosive power to squat-style long jump performance. The research sample consisted of 42 male students from the Sports Coaching Education Study Program at Riau University. The independent variable was leg muscle explosive power, while the dependent variable was squat-style long jump performance. Data for variable X were obtained through a standing broad jump test to measure leg muscle explosive power, whereas data for variable Y were collected from squat-style long jump tests using an approach run. The data were analyzed using a normality test with the Liliefors test, followed by correlation analysis and a t-test to determine significance and contribution. The results indicated that variable X was normally distributed, while variable Y was not normally distributed. The correlation coefficient obtained was r = 0.32. The t-test results showed that t_count > t_table, indicating a significant relationship between leg muscle explosive power and squat-style long jump performance. Further analysis revealed that leg muscle explosive power contributed 10.24% to squat-style long jump performance, while the remaining 89.76% was influenced by other factors.
